Here is video of Sean Hannity tonight talking to Frank Luntz about the "language" of President Obama's Health Care speech to Congress. His discussion with Luntz begins at the 5:14 remaining mark of the video. The first minute or so is a Griff Jenkins report with the Tea Party Express in Pennsylvania. Luntz said he thinks Obama may gain from his using the words "bad people" in connection to Health Insurance Executives. Luntz said he thinks Obama will regret putting a $900 Billion price tag on the cost of Health Care. Everything the Government has ever done has cost far...

Barack Obama is making an enormous mistake on the most important initiative of his presidency. In recent weeks, Obama has stressed that health care reform is the essential ingredient for the success of his economic recovery plan. Yet the president, easily the most gifted White House communicator since Ronald Reagan, has the message all wrong. [snip] He has said the same thing on many other occasions, almost always stressing the threat of runaway cost. When Obama talks health care, it's cost, cost, cost. But that's not what people want to hear, or at least not all they want to hear....

Ann Coulter Responds to Media Matters Attacks Wednesday, January 7, 2009 7:50 AM By: Phil Brennan The far left attack dog Media Matters for America is obviously unhappy with Ann Coulter’s new book “Guilty: Liberal 'Victims' and Their Assault on America.” published a 6,000 word compilation of a dozen alleged lies contained in her book which unmasks some of the left’s sleaziest tactics. Media Matters, according to widely respected pollster Frank Luntz is “one of the most destructive organizations associated with American politics today … They are vicious. They only understand one thing: attack...” Newsmax asked Ms. Coulter to respond...

I am just getting around to write about this from last night...but did anyone view The O'Reilly Factor last night? Bill had Frank Luntz on there to go over the dial reaction to Obama's infomercial and Bill's appearance on Letterman and The View. When O'Reilly asked Luntz what will he do once the election was over...Frank slipped in a few words that O'Reilly never called him out on. Luntz said that they were going to continue wiring people up through November 4th for reaction and then will wire people up through Barack Obama's first 100 days in office to get...

Just listened to Luntz on Neil Cavuto's program. He said it's over and McCain can't win. How good is this guy?

Its time for Bush to get worried By Frank Luntz October 15, 2004 The big story of the US presidential election up to Thursday was how few undecided voters there were. Now the final presidential debate is over, these voters have essentially made up their minds - and it is George W.Bush who should be worried. If John Kerry is elected the 44th president, it will be because of a single night in Miami, Florida, when he came to debate and Mr. Bush came to - well, no one is quite sure. The double-digit lead that Gallup polls, long considered...

I'm rather skeptical as to whether or not the composition of focus groups is truly reflective of the electorate, or of "undecided" voters. CNN and Fox News both had such groups featured tonight. How are these groups put together? Do the participants get paid? I would imagine that they do. Is that truly reflective of the electorate? I know that the little focus group meters they have seemed off. When McCain was sticking it to Obama, it seemed like the GOP line never really went up that high. Like, for example, when the debate turned to spending and McCain called...

Like so many of his colleagues, Jeff Greenfield comes to the MSM from a background in Dem politics, having served as a speechwriter to RFK. But more than most, the CBS senior political correspondent demonstrates an ability to put partisanship aside in his analyses. Witness Greenfields's comments on this morning's Early Show regarding Barack Obama's speech on race on this morning's Early Show. The show's intro referred to the speech as "a defining cultural moment in America" and a "moving moment." Greenfield was considerably more restrained in his praise, suggesting that Obama failed by declining to disassociate himself from a...

I post this question not as sour grapes but just as an observation. It seems like every time I watch one of these debates and FoxNews has one of its focus groups, the room goes from all undecided to almost ALL Romney. And something about it doesn't pass the smell test. The reason is because the voters go from apparently undecided to making very strong statements in favor of Romney. And that's not to say Romney hasn't done well in these formats, but if you look at neutral observers on the net, the results are much more balanced. It also...

Frank Luntz declared Fred Thompson the winner of the Republican debate based on his focus group. They didn't like McCain on torture, they liked Thompson's fiscal conservatism, his visible fire in the belly, etc. etc. Romney is the second choice.

Excerpt - Matt Sheffield's post over at Ace's place ("The Attempted Crucifixion of Frank Luntz") noted the heat PBS had received for having GOP pollster Frank Luntz participate as an analyst at last Thursday's Democrat debate: The blog left's puppet master, David Brock, sends out an "alert" informing them that someone who might possibly be conservative is going to be allowed to report as a "mainstream" journalist. ..... Thankfully, PBS has not backed down. Luntz, who is a respected pollster and is often quoted in liberal publications is not getting the shaft, making him one of the very few Republicans...

Pollster Frank Luntz for the past decade has issued warnings to his fellow Republicans that they did not want to hear, but never has he been so out of touch with them as he is today. "The Republican message machine is a skeleton of its former self," Luntz told me. "These people have no idea how the American people react to them." Luntz sees a disconnect between Republicans and voters that projects a grim future for the party. That contradicts what House and Senate Republicans are saying to each other in closed party conferences. While Luntz views 2006 election defeats...

WASHINGTON -- Pollster Frank Luntz for the past decade issued warnings to his fellow Republicans that they did not want to hear, but never has been so out of touch with them as he is today. "The Republican message machine is a skeleton of its former self," Luntz told me. "These people have no idea how the American people react to them"... ...He has clashed frequently with Rep. John Boehner, the current Republican leader of the House who stifled ethics legislation last year when he was still majority leader. Boehner, elected chairman of the House Republican Conference when the party...

Soon after the November elections leading Democrats agreed that the party was ailing and in dire need of a new direction, a new focus, new ideas to lead it forward. "It's critical we realize why the electorate voted the way it did," Representative Bob Menendez, of New Jersey, the chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said of the party's devastating loss in the presidential election and its setbacks in both houses of Congress. In February, House Democratic lawmakers held a retreat in Virginia to hash out what to do next. Something miraculous happened. They recovered—or at least they're behaving that...

I‘VE BEEN a pollster and wordsmith for senators and CEOs for more than a decade, and I have a particular interest in language. What’s the clear, common-sense way to say what you mean? And how can politicians best educate and express their ideas? That’s why I wrote a “A New American Lexicon” for my business and political clients. But it soon made its way to the Internet, where it raised a storm among Democrats in Washington, D.C., and in the blogosphere, who accused me of the worst kind of spin. They say I’m manipulating the debate in an attempt to...

When asked - Frank said that the President has the momentum at the moment in the national polls. However, the race is really close in the Electoral College. He said that due to increased voter registration and the last remaining undecided voters - who tend to break towards the challenger - he believes that Bush will need at least a 3 point lead in the popular vote (national polls) to win enough battle ground states to win the electoral college. He states that conventional wisdom says it's one thing to register a lot of new voters, but it’s another to...

Debate Score: Bush 3, Kerry 0 Written by Gregory Borse Saturday, October 16, 2004 Senator Kerry’s nuanced (read hypocritical) foreign policy record includes politically opportunistic votes on the idea of war (he’s for it when it’s politically expedient, or supported by Clinton, and against it when Howard Dean proves that it’s politically expedient in the Democratic Party to be against it). But Kerry has also voted against military funding every time the issue has been brought to the floor of the senate. Kerry’s foreign policy position in a time of war includes attempting to co-opt Ronald Reagan in Wednesday night’s...

Pollster Frank Luntz is crying foul after MSNBC canceled his long-scheduled focus group two days before the debate. Luntz, who is under contract to MSNBC, had already spent $30,000 on recruits for several focus groups and invited reporters in Florida to watch -- only to be told that the network didn't want to declare a winner in the debate. "I think they buckled to political pressure," says Luntz, who has advised Republicans from Newt Gingrich to Rudy Giuliani but says he's done no GOP work since 2001. "They caved. . . . Why is it that Democrats are allowed to...

From Roll Call, subscription only. Here's the relevant bit: Looks like the letter had an impact. Although MSNBC did not respond to Brock, a spokeswoman for the network told HOH late Wednesday that the network has decided “not to go with Frank for the debate.” In fact, MSNBC won’t conduct polling at all now, she said. Brock was delighted to hear the news. “It is encouraging that MSNBC responded to criticism in a constructive way. Clearly they realized that employing a partisan pollster does not reflect well on them as a responsible media outlet.” --------------------- From Media Matters: From: Jeremy...

Luntz Research gathered 21 OH "swing voters" in Cincinnati to "dial test" Pres. Bush's acceptance speech. "All are undecided in their current preference." Moderator Frank Luntz (R) called "Bush's speech was an overwhelming success in the minds of these voters. By the end of the evening": 15 would vote for Bush and 6 for Kerry if the 2004 election were held today. (note: 12 voted for Bush in 2000 and 9 for Gore) 13 of the undecided voters had made up their minds to vote for Bush Thursday night specifically because of his speech, while only one person switched form...

The focus group gathered by pollster Frank Luntz appeared to like Zell’s speech better than Cheney's. They're describing it as, "stronger... focused on the family... dead on, convincing coming from a Democrat." Then there’s one woman: “His entire focus was on terrorism and why we should be afraid.” The "spitballs" line got a big laugh. The focus group seemed to like the line, and many thought it illustrated a serious point well. Cheney’s line about “as if al-Qaeda will be impressed with our softer side” did well with his group, and in particular, "He declared at the Democratic Convention that...

On MSNBC "Countdown: Iraq," highly respected pollster Dr. Frank Luntz just reported that the more the Hollywood crowd pushes the anti-war war position, the more the public *supports* the war. This corresponds with a report on Drudge that the support for the war is growing as well as frustration with the UN. This also seems to correspond with the decline in favorable numbers towards Bush (public eagerness to get the ball rolling). However, I'm betting the downward trend for support for Bush will change once the war begins. Whenever that happens. So maybe all that Hollywood anti-war noise is a...

December 28, 2002 President Bartlet, Please Take Me BackBy FRANK LUNTZ cLEAN, Va. -- There is a small, humorless segment of conservative society that is now convinced more than ever that NBC's "The West Wing" is a plot, a weekly Hollywood conspiracy to overturn the electoral outcome of 2000. I should know. In 2001, I joined Marlin Fitzwater and Peggy Noonan as one of three consultants hired to provide a conservative perspective to the show's writers. Then, in the summer of this year, all three of us were dumped. To conservatives, it was proof that "The West Wing" hates...
