Pelosi critical of Baucus billBy GLENN THRUSH | 9/17/09 5:04 AM EDT House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s reaction to the release of the Max Baucus health care reform bill was chilly at best — with a not-so-subtle swipe at the Senate Finance Committee’s stripping away the public option preserved in current House proposals. “As this proposal evolves, we hope to see modifications that result in the Senate bill better reflecting the work of the House to make health care more affordable for all Americans and promote competition that is key to keeping costs lower,” Pelosi said in a statement. “I believe...

It was surreal to step onto the stage and to feel the unity, energy, and absolute commitment to this nation on the National Mall yesterday in Washington DC. It was even more surreal to know that all who were there had come from every different corner of life imaginable in the United States. Nonetheless, we were honored to join Parcbench, the National Tea Parties, and every patriot who stood up on 9.12 for the future of America:

As longtime readers know, in the past several years, I've gotten a lot of death threats, ALL of them from Muslim residents of the United States a/k/a the "moderate" ones. Three of the four have been prosecuted, but the Justice Department refuses to pursue the most scary and frequent of the death threat perpetrators (Lola Elzein, who contacted me six times with escalating threats of rape, torture, and death to myself and my family members). Rahm Emanuel is an anti gun politician who recently became Barack Obama’s chief of staff. He was previously the the US Congressman for Illinois’ 5th congressional district - a congressional seat that is now vacant. The seat will soon be filled through an election, with the primary occurring on March 3, 2009, and the general election on April 7, 2009. Getting a pro gun rights individual elected would be a nice change, especially since the president is anti gun, and both chambers of congress are controlled by anti gun politicians: Rosanna Pulido is running for congress to fill the seat...

If the S.C. Republican establishment (including Senate President Glenn McConnell and Lt. Gov. Not only that … Jay-Z’s hit “99 Problems” wouldn’t be the official theme song of South Carolina’s so-called “deliberative” body. Anyway, McConnell and Bauer (like the rest of the “Republican” Caucus) chose not to back Jenerette’s campaign, deciding instead to support behind the campaign of their big government buddy Sen. Yet when you see the political left and right coalesce on anything having to do with the White House, you're left to wonder: What could cause such an event of biblical proportions? Two words: Tony Snow. Snow is the Bush administration's new press secretary. So let the gravitas flow freely: Apparently one man is seen as worthy -- and, get this, from both sides of the aisle.

I'm reading an astonishing number of comments on Free Republic these days by posters who have joined the ranks of the anti-American left in calling for an immediate withdrawal from Iraq. Some claim to have military experience, some claim to be patriotic Americans and some claim to be smarter than the rest. These posters are joining the Murtha-Rangel-McDermott treason caucus. Oh, they say they love the troops, but their decision to abandon them in the field speaks otherwise.Three years ago, the United States led an international coalition to rid the world of one of the worst regimes on the planet. Saddam...

Are you the poster who embodies the caricature that left-wingers have established of Freepers? I just wasted an hour viewing some left-wing sites, and I noticed a lot of Freeper-bashing. I've noticed this before, of course; but it got me to wondering who exactly they're talking about. The DU'ers, etc have plenty of negative adjectives for and descriptions of Freepers, but they never specify who exactly on Free Republic fits these descriptions. So in the spirit of bipartisanship that is swarming over Washington I figured I might help them out. Once we decide who fits the caricature they have of...

On Sunday, Mike Huckabee crossed the New York City Marathon's finish line after a grueling race that he says was both his proudest, and for sure, his most painful. Until last week, he was unsure if he would be able to run in what would be his fourth marathon, due to a nagging knee injury that had forced him to go under the doctor's knife twice to drain a buildup of fluid. The thought of not running on Sunday was devastating to a man who had trained so hard for so long. He finally told his doctor that he...

It was exactly one year ago today that I first joined Freerepublic! It's been a great year. I love this site, we talk about everything, disagreements are usually kept polite and civil, and I really feel a sense of friendship among my fellow Freepers. Thanks for everything, you guys, I just hope my future years here go as well as this first one did!

On this page, there are several definitions of a Freeper. We are getting a very bad rap. We need to Freep the thumbs up and down and correct this. You will also find other definitions like, Moonbat, DUmmies, and Free Republic. We need your help, please! See some of the definitions below: 1 - Right-wing political activist. So-called, because it is the nickname of the denizens of the ultra-right wing Web site FreeRepublic.com. Similar to "ditto-head." Also spelled FReeper Bill thinks that anyone who opposes President Bush should be thrown in jail. He's a total Freeper. 3 - A pseudo-conservative...

Hey y'all...happy Saturday to you. :) I am in need of some help with my FReeper page, specifically, how to place something on it. I'd like to know...how do I place a running timer or countdown on my FReeper page? How do I get the Amber alert banner to display real-time information as their website says we can do? Are we able to post a visitor counter on our FReeper pages? These are some of the things I've attempted to do in the past, but haven't been able to figure out. Can anyone help me? Thank you for your help...
