FReeper jehardy has passed away. Just a note to let you know that we've lost another member. Judy was a friend of mine for the past 12 years and a former co-worker. She did not post a great deal, but always appreciated being part of this community, to which I introduced her back around 2006. Judy was a warm and funny person, with a ready smile and a great laugh. Like her husband Herb, she was a true patriot and defender of the Constitution, notably the 2nd Amendment, which led us to share and compare our firearms purchases and also...

OK, I admit it. I love snark. I love a well-crafted one, and I love to try my hand at it. Perhaps too often, I will concede. You definitely don't want to be considered "too snarky". But I can't help it. It's just too much fun. When I see a headline that is just screaming out for snark, I jump on the thread, and all too often see that another Freeper has beaten me to my snark. Did you know that the plural of snark is snark. As in "I posted 5 snark today". Honestly. While I play at snark,...

I heard Rush mention Free Republic Freepers on his show today. I am not a Rush Subscriber so I cannot post link.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Here is Bill in Gainesville, Florida. Bill, I'm glad you waited. It's great to have you on the program today, sir. Hello. CALLER: Hey, Rush, I'm honored. I think this is a great segue, I hope. I'm grateful for Mr. O'Keefe. I'm 53 years old and single. I'm self-employed. I've got a big footprint. I've got six kids that I've raised here in Gainesville, Florida, and the only ability that I feel like I have is my vote, and I wanted to ask you about the birth of the Tea Party. RUSH: Yeah? CALLER: I think it...

I was going through some old files on my hard drive, when I discovered a series of threads I preserved from the 1999-2000 timeframe. I started reading through them and I was amazed at the number of people who had been on here, who I lost track of, or no longer see on the forum. I know, some of them are dead, some of them banned, some of them moved on... some of them even changed name! But I would love if any or all of you checked in, informing me of your status. I'm especially interested in hearing from...

I am taking part in tonight's townhall with more than 2 dozens other (Black) Conservatives which will be hosted by Foxnews's Sean Hannity. The townhall, which was the brainchild of Deneen Borelli brought together (Black) Conservatives from all walks of life and is meant to show the American public that our community is not monolithic as many Americans have been lead to think and that there are Conservatives within the Black Community despite what the Liberal Left tells Americans. The following is a list of those Conservatives who took part in this first townhall: DR. BEN CARSON, BISHOP COUNCIL NEDD...

THE HISTORY OF LENT.. For our traditional Italian Roman Catholic family, Lent is a very special time of prayer, penance, sacrifice and good works in preparation of the celebration of Easter.. I have searched the internet researching the various ways that this wonderfully religious season is celebrated from it's earliest biblical beginnings.. Since the earliest times of the Church, there is evidence of some kind of Lenten preparation for Easter. It starts with Ash Wednesday, when Catholics had their foreheads marked with ash crosses, a symbol of penance signaling the start of Lent. During the 40 days leading up to...

All Freepers, Took this photo this Saturday AM on Hiway 67 on the way to Cripple Creek, Colorado. Looks like someone in Southern Colorado is tired of the juvenile antics of the left. Thought you would enjoy. X1stCav

Come everyone. Just a few bucks to finish off Q4 before the traffic gets too heavy. Let's get this done so we can concentrate on the future. If you feel guilty because you haven't donated before, just jump in. The water is fine and it makes you feel good. Do it.

We lost another FReeper last week - Waco. His sister GrannyK wanted to post about it. He was very active on FR until May of this year when he entered the hospital. He was an Air Force veteran (74 yrs young) & very conservative.

Dreams from My Father by Barack Obama came out in 1995 and has sold over a million copies, but to rightbloggers it is a constantly fresh source of discovery. SNIP "I don't believe Obama had many girlfriends. Personally, I always pegged him to be gay," said Support Your Local Gunfighter. "Obama admits to writing fiction... The only real question here is if, by 'multiple,' he meant 'imaginary,' or if by 'girlfriends,' he actually meant 'boyfriends,'" said Vox Day. "Composite sketch expert renders Obama's 'girlfriend,'" wrote I Own The World, offering a drawing of a guy with a "Ramrod Club" tattoo...

We are the Free Republic Pre-War on Terror Class of Freepers. Having been a freeper for over a decade, and having experienced both a pre 9/11 presence here and a post 9/11 presence, having experienced the Hanging Chad Wars of GW's first election, Sore Loserman and all, what stands out for you regarding the growth of Free Republic over the years. What are your thoughts on the independence of Free Republic, and Jim Robinson's decision to go advertisement free all these years. My first thought is that his financial independence is what has freed him to tell the GOP-E to...

A dozen conservative activists interacted with dinner attendees including Woody Harrelson and Chris Matthews. As the nation’s elite journalists arrived at the Washington Hilton to hobnob with President Obama at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, many were met by a small group of protesters shouting "don't believe the liberal press" and holding signs adorned with photos of deceased conservative activist Andrew Breitbart. A few notable attendees politely mixed it up a bit with the protesters, who also shouted accusations of hypocrisy at the well-dressed journalists and Hollywood celebrities. Protester Kevin Martin asked MSNBC host Chris Matthews why he wasn't driven...

During the Clinton era, this site was a major thorn in the Clinton's butt. We were taking out full page ads during the early days of impeachment. We did stuff to combat what we were seeing. In hindsight the Clinton's weren't that bad, in comparison. Should we be doing more?

Just a heads-up:FReepathon is upon us... The trailblazing Free Republic conservative forum -same one that was instrumental in ridding our country of fifth-columnist Dan Rather's damaging influence and took the clueless, defeatist Dixie Chicks to task- is the one forum you need to check-out if you're not already a regular "FReeper" yourself...I myself enjoy the debate immensely, and in the darkest depths of the grim Obammunist era, FR serves as a powerful grass-roots political force: constitutionally-aware patriots can be found in the numerous local FReeper chapters throughout the United States- imo, the TEA Party owes them quite a bit... _________________________________________________________________________________ From Free...

Happy Thanksgiving! I know this is a vanity but it is my first one in over five years. I really just wanted to thank everyone for educating me, putting in my place (on occasions), being friends, and so many other positives. I cannot put into words how Free Republic has changed my life. This is not only the source of news that I receive, but it is also a place that I come to for assistance from time to time. My education has gained a ton since joining here. I apologize to those who I really irritated over the years....

Fellow Freepers, I want to humbly thank you for the support you gave to Christine O'Donnell here in Delaware. So many of you gave money, prayers and moral support as we here tried to break the Democrat hold on the good people of Delaware. Today, you will hear stories about Christine--about what a poor candidate she was, how Mike Castle was the better choice and a guaranteed win in DE for the GOP, and that she ran a poor campaign. Believe NONE of it. I had the distinct pleasure of meeting and talking with Christine numerous times during this campaign...

FReepathon 2010 is upon us... The trailblazing Free Republic conservative forum that was SO instrumental in ridding our country of fifth-columnist Dan Rather's damaging influence is as lively as ever in these momentous times- no doubt I enjoy the debate immensely, and in the depths of the grim Obama era they're also highly effective as a grass-roots force- imo, the TEA Party owes FR a lot. From Free Republic's Statement from the Founder: _______________________________________________________ In our continuing fight for freedom, for America and our constitution and against totalitarianism, socialism, tyranny, terrorism, etc., Free Republic stands firmly on the side of...

Mexican officials have reportedly identified two men they say are suspects in a pirate attack nine days ago on a Texas couple Jet Skiing on a border lake in which the husband was killed. Mexican officials have not released photographs of the two men, but identified them as Pedro Saldiva Farrias, 27, and his brother, Jose Manuel Saldiva Farrias, Juan Carlos Ballesteros, an investigator with the attorney general's office of the Mexican state of Tamaulpas told ABC affiliate KRGV-TV in McAllen, Texas. Both were said to be suspected members of the Zeta drug cartel from Nueva Ciudad Guerrero, near the...

If you’re at all web-savvy, you’ve probably heard of Digg.com. Founded in 2006, Digg is the reigning king of the social news ecosystem, cracking the top 50 websites in the U.S. and the top 100 worldwide. Its million-plus users democratically filter the torrent of online media, upvoting or “digging” desired content while “burying” rubbish and spam. The most popular content is promoted to the site’s highly-trafficked front page. The result is a peek into the consciousness of the internet: a mixture of comics, videos, sensationalism, and breaking news that is the growing face of new media.Digg’s popularity makes it...

The Internet is a large-scale version of the "Committees of Correspondence" that led to the first American Revolution — and with Washington's failings now so obvious and awful, it may lead to another. People are asking, "Is the government doing us more harm than good? Should we change what it does and the way it does it?" Pruning the power of government begins with the imperial presidency. Too many overreaching laws give the president too much discretion to make too many open-ended rules controlling too many aspects of our lives. There's no end to the harm an out-of-control president can...

The pioneering Free Republic is as lively as ever- I enjoy the debate immensely, and in the darkest depths of the grim Obammunist era they're also highly effective as a grass-roots conservative force: concerned patriots can be found in the numerous local Freepers' chapters throughout the United States, as you all well know- imo, the TEA Party owes YOU all a lot. If you can spare even $10 it really helps them bring the fight, which is what America really need right now... the next four months we will surely be nothing less than an all-out political war for the...

Every afternoon around cocktail hour (two for one specials on Tuesdays), members of the Freeper crowd get together in front of their computers and TV sets to watch and comment on The Glenn Beck Show. Someone brings out a tray of non-alcoholic cocktails (in Glenn's honor), someone else serves mini Vienna sausages, cheese balls, pizza quiches and other delectables, and we all settle in for an hour of shock and awe. We're never disappointed. Especially lately. Today Glenn told the Crime Syndicate that he's not going to shut up. "I'm going down swinging", he warned them. During today's show, some...

<------ C'mon, Give it up for the chick... Whenever I want to know what's happening right now, I head to Twitter for snap news. Then I click over to Free Republic where some "freeper" is sure to have posted about it, with links to the sourced article. Today I was there when Kristinn Taylor posted a one liner noting that FOX was running a banner announcing that up to eight others in Pakistan have been taken into custody in the Times Square bombing attempt. It didn't take long for readers to post their comments. They were choice. (Or as Spencer...

Any other FReepers (besides my chatroom friend in Frankfurt)stuck in Europe? Germany? Zurich? I think we have the makings of a Continental Tea Party Gathering. Perhaps we could charter a flight home? Sounds like the US is a bit less concerned about this ash cloud than the European governments here. An interesting group in the breakfast room at our hotel this am, tho -- a man who was stranded in Vienna, who researched for 2 days and decided that Zurich was the place to be (why? the airport is like a ghost town); one man who had just gotten in...

What are you doing with your vacation time this year? Could you donate some to help your country? I knew you would. Take a day or two, or even the whole week! Let's get our requests in early! Days to take If you can only take one day, make it Tuesday the election day. If you can take two, make it Monday and Tuesday so you have the whole weekend and a day before the election. If you get more, take off the Friday the week before and work backwards from there. Take the following Wednesday if you want to...

There is no underestimating the importance of today's events. I don't think anyone subscribing to this forum would refute that. Many people here wear their hearts on their sleeves and are rightfully distraught about the possibility that this monstrosity could be voted into law today. Reading through the threads, it is a very personal matter for all of us and we are all concerned about the future of our country, our children, and the world. There is a higher degree of awareness here and it is productively channelled into fruitful activities. The passion of our fellow posters is palpable and sometimes...

Tea Party Anniversary Rally Saturday, February 27th At The Duck Pond in Temecula, California The turnout was great despite the rain. All told, with people coming and going between cloudbursts, the estimate was put at around 200 people. Thank you to everyone who took time on a very wet Saturday afternoon to wake up their fellow Americans. The Patriots who came out today sent an even stronger message in defense of liberty by doing so in midst of a downpour. The support for our message was strong as evidenced by the honking, waving and thumbs up from drivers passing by...

What happened to FR, it is deader than a squirrel on I-10 going through Dallas. It is almost as if the internet is down East of California. What gives? Inquiring minds want to know.

Have not done this in a while and I know we all love it lol. I have been posting this every now and again, but don't believe I have seen one this year. :) Let's just have a fun post today.

This is a public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood Admin Moderators (Sidebar gave us some attitude so we shoved him in the closet for a while. He never recovered from the Yacht incident) For a while, we have noticed some things happening that we need your help with. The Free Republic community is strong; we are almost a family, albeit very dysfunctional at times. Like any community, we have new members joining us daily. Unfortunately, the air of suspicion and the desire to keep things “the way they are” has fostered a feeling of distrust with new members. Almost...

American conservatism is devoted to conserving the American republic. Since the American republic is commonly classified as a “liberal” regime, the question of this symposium almost seems to answer itself: Conservatism today serves liberalism. (“Liberalism” in this context refers to its original 18th-century variety, meaning a limited government whose chief aim is to secure individual rights, rather than the modern variety, meaning a positive state that seeks to establish “social justice.”)

A new post a Free Republic detailing how a al-Qaeda production is being spread through the Ansar.net website. And how Jihadtube er uh excuse me, Youtube is a critical step in that process. In the last post I put up, I showed you how the terrorists use the videos that they post at YouTube. Now I'd like to show you what some of those videos are about. I was surfing around terrorist websites and found this gem. The site is Ansar al-Mujahideen, which is a website for the Mujahideen terrorists (as you might suspect from their name.) Here are some...

Mark Thompson found an interesting quote that is relevant to the current healthcare debate: Nor is there any reason why the state should not assist the individuals in providing for those common hazards of life against which, because of their uncertainty, few individuals can make adequate provision. Where, as in the case of sickness and accident, neither the desire to avoid such calamities nor the efforts to overcome their consequences are as a rule weakened by the provision of assistance – where, in short, we deal with genuinely insurable risks – the case for the state’s helping to organize a...

Here is newly posted video of March On Washington. This video includes a couple of Freepers! Myself, Wpin and Pete Kessler are the longer haired (twins) who are speaking in this video. Sorry it is up so late, our video editor was on his honeymoon. We should be posting several more videos next week, including some from the National Freeper Convention held that weekend in DC. It was an amazing series of events you will all enjoy.

WHO IS JIM THOMPSON? He is everyone, and no one in particular. He is strong-jawed, but smiling. He is iron-willed, but willing to listen. He is tough as steel, but putty in the hands of his daughters. Jim Thompson believes in God. He is disciplined, but not a Puritan. He is pious, but not a Pharisee. He goes to church on Sunday because he likes it. He tries to love his neighbor as himself, and often succeeds. Jim's the boy for work. As an employee, he gives the job everything he's got. As an entrepreneur, he works twice as...
