Hello and happy Holy Days to all! I hope it is okay to post this today, as I am sitting here in my room in Rowland Heights, a good looking never been married man of 49, by myself on Christmas day. Although I am perfectly happy by myself, it would be so nice to share this and many other days with a bright and cute woman of the same conservative ideals that I have! Maybe this thread can be a beginning point for other FR sinlges to someday meet and get to know each other?

SAN ANTONIO -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry remains one of the front-runners for the Republican Presidential Nomination, and depending on who you ask, many think he'll get it. John Sharp, the recently confirmed Chancellor of Texas A&M University who ran against Perry in the 1998 general election for Lieutenant Governor, gave his take on the race while visiting Texas A&M- San Antonio on Tuesday. "It's a full time deal running against Rick Perry, and anybody who sells him short is an idiot, because it will be a tough campaign," Sharp said. Sharp has known Perry since his college days, where...

Rick Perry, fresh off a Republican presidential debate in Simi Valley Wednesday night, campaigned in Newport Beach Thursday morning, with a rally at Roger’s Gardens. The emotional peak of the rally was OC Republican Party Chairman Emeritus Tom Fuentes, who is in the final stages of cancer, leaving his hospice bed to lead the invocation. After the rally, Perry went across the street to Fashion Island for a private fundraising event. Here are some photos from the Roger’s...

Unprecedented accusation against Mahmoud Ahmadinejad: a Muslim cleric accused the Iranian president of wanting "friendship with Israel," an Iranian website associated with the opposition reported on Thursday. According to religious scholar Mahmoud Nubian, Ahmadinejad's top adviser Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei stated three years ago that Iran should have "friendly ties" with the Jewish State, but Ahmadinejad has refrained from reiterating this position in public because of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's fierce objection. Nubian further claimed that the Iranian president personally told him that he supported Mashaei's statement, but couldn’t say anything out of respect to the leader.

Have you ever stopped to think about the Genesis account of creation in light of God’s own admission that something wasn’t good? After all, we see in Genesis 1 that after everything God created he declared it “good,” culminating with the creation of man, which He called “very good.” So why in chapter 2, verse 18 does God admit that something is “not good?”

Last night I had the opportunity for the first time to see the Passion Play. Aside from the positive message presented in the play, what struck me most about the performance was the number of local actors involved and the ramifications that such a number of Christians equipped to share Christ’s message could have on the local region.

Girls ask themselves this question. Guys ask the same thing too. Movie stars ask this question. First grade teachers ask it as well. This question greatly troubles some individuals, while others don’t struggle with it too much. Yet, the question is there. There are people who make this the objective of their life. It does not matter what they have to do, they will do it to bring about the desired result. Many parents worry about this with their children. They do so to their own detriment. Politicians typically don’t care about this as long as they get votes. Someone...

Friendships are an important part of our lives. Ever since we were young, we have formed these relationships with other individuals and they have brought us times of sadness and happiness, exhilaration and frustration. Some of these friendships have been more shallow and superficial while others have been much more strong and long-lasting. As we grow and mature, we discover that these strong, fulfilling friendships require much effort and work to maintain. That’s probably why most people have so few of them. I’ve heard many individuals say, on a number of occasions, that they can count the number of good...

Introduction How many people do you know by face or name? Most of us likely cannot count the faces we have known over the years. Faces come and go. When you are a child, it is easy to think that everyone is your friend. It is fun to talk about the things you are going to do together right up until the last day. Time often reveals that we do not have as many friends as we would have hoped. When you pass on, you will have been very fortunate to have had a group of true friends. There have been...

Thank you for the joy you bring You have given everything Don't deserve the gifts you share Thank God I have friends...

Dallas police are investigating the bizarre death of a man who they say asked a friend to shoot him so he could blame his injuries on his ex's new boyfriend and gain custody of his son. Police said Dwayne Moten, 20, was shot Saturday. He was driving a car in Dallas, stopped at an intersection and got out of his car, screaming for help. "He yelled he had been shot," a police spokeswoman said. Police arrived on scene and found Moten was suffering from "several gunshot wounds." Sr. Cpl. Kevin Janse told Fox News that Moten was shot by a...

Good Friday through Resurrection Sunday An Easter Thread of Friendship HE IS RISEN HE IS RISEN INDEED Matthew 27:50-53 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.(NIV) "Why do...

Dear Friend or Foe, I'm kind of a geeky person and have never had many friends. When I graduated from college, I moved in with a female roommate who monopolized my social life. Eventually we both moved on to romantic relationships without any drama. But she suddenly manufactured a huge fight, and we stopped speaking. Then I married, became involved in my husband's church, and made friends there. After I divorced, the church took the attitude that "nice women don't do that." My husband, who had never even attended regularly, was suddenly invited to eat Thanksgiving dinner with the minister,...

The Simple Joys of Life by Ari Bussel The future is anchored in the past. Growth is fed by family values, honesty, integrity and always stepping back to look at the bigger picture, putting oneself in the shoes of another, asking: Am I behaving the way I would want to be treated? A momentary immense anger can dissipate into nothing if we only evaluate the situation and ask ourselves: Why are we angry? What is it we are fighting? Is it worth our energy and emotions? Life is a blessing. I sometimes buy a lottery ticket, when the jackpot is...

In what the Obama Administration is characterizing as “innovative diplomacy,” it was announced that President Obama and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Il have become “Facebook friends.” “Facebook is a great way to build networks of friends and improve communications,” explain Press Secretary Robert Gibbs. “It’s easy to use and can link up diverse participants. Kim will be invited to become friends with those listed as friends of the President and vice versa. The potential is virtually unlimited.” Gibbs stressed the “breakthrough” nature of the move. “No previous administration ever thought of doing this,” Gibbs boasted. “It’s a fulfillment of...

SHALOM? How close is President Obama to Israel? The degree of his affection is subject to interpretation. House Minority Whip Eric Cantor, Virginia Republican, suggested the relationship is tepid, telling the Politico that Mr. Obama does not appear to be a "true friend" to the Jewish nation. Some beg to differ, however. "Mr. Cantor has decided to position himself as the arbiter of who is and who isn't pro-Israel in this country. Setting aside Cantor's lack of sterling professional foreign-policy credentials, is it wise for him to set himself up as such a figure?" asks Ira N. Fornan, CEO of...

This time of year we hear of many people writing list of goals for the new year, a New Years Resolution. The problem most people face is that mid-January they stop working towards those goals. Why do people lose track of goals like this? The answer is the simple fact that they lack the ability to commit. A commitment is a vow you make between you and someone else. Whether it's just for yourself, or between a spouse,a friend, or the Lord. Commitment is by definition:

Last week, I took my favorite train to one of my favorite parts of the city, Main Street, Flushing, and a world unto itself. After soaking up some of the exuberant street life, I hopped a bus to Whitestone, Queens, and a cozy house on a tree-lined thoroughfare of clipped hedges and tidy lawns. This is a tranquil neighborhood. There’s a seminary up the road. It’s the perfect outpost for someone who’s helped restore your faith in humanity. He was already a legend when I met him at the Irish Echo, 24 years ago. They said his generosity was incomparable,...

Man Claims Panic Led Him to Chop Up Dead Pal's Body, Stuff It In Barrel Wednesday, July 25, 2007 BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A man charged with improperly disposing of a corpse claims he chopped up his friend's body, stuffed the parts in a metal drum and rolled it into a river in a panic after the friend died of a drug overdose, police said. The drum, with the body parts inside, was found floating in the Pequonnock River in Bridgeport last week. Felix Rivera, 23, was charged Tuesday with improper disposal of a dead body after he told police his...

THE FIRST TIME the Rev. Jerry Falwell put his hands on me, I was stunned. Not only had we been archenemies for 15 years, his beliefs and mine traveling in different solar systems, and not only had he sued me for $50 million (a case I lost repeatedly yet eventually won in the Supreme Court), but now he was hugging me in front of millions on the Larry King show. It was 1997. My autobiography, "An Unseemly Man," had just been published, describing my life as a publisher of pornography. The film "The People vs. Larry Flynt" had recently come...

Is there is such thing as friendship between a man and a woman? Needless to say, friendships differ. A friendly relationship between men breeds respect, friendship between women can be admired yet friendship between a man and a woman is often viewed with suspicion, mistrust and even enmity. Let us try to look into some of the reasons behind this attitude toward the phenomenon. Friendship between man and woman doesn't exist (orlandofloridaattorneys.com)

On Good Friday Christians remember the day that Jesus was killed put on the cross. This is the reason why the cross is an important sign for Christians today. There are crosses in churches and many Christians wear a cross on a chain. It is is pecular to the English language to call it Good Friday one theory is that it was originally God's Friday in the same way the good bye was originally God be with you. Another theory is, but there is very little evidence for this, that good and holy were once one and the same word....
