The University of Akron has put its foot down against a professor who planned to raise the grades of female students so they would stay in his field of information sciences. After The College Fix quoted an email to students from Liping Liu, an administrator told The Fix that the business and management professor’s gender-based approach was “unacceptable” and that no grades have been artificially raised.

The City University of New York (CUNY)-Guttman recently published a new guide for students that adds “zim,” “ver,” and “emself” to the list of acceptable “gender-inclusive” pronouns that can be used. The “Gender Identity and Pronouns” guide tells students that the “dichotomy of ‘he and she’ in English does not leave room for other gender identities,” and to fix this, the guide offers a list of alternatives students may use instead. The guide claims that possible alternatives include “zie/zim/zieself,” “vie/ver/verself,” as well as the irregular set of pronouns, “zie, hir, hirself.” To refer to a student using these pronouns, you might...

ONTARIO, May 8, 2018 (LifeSiteNews) – A biological male who identifies as neither male nor female has received Ontario’s first birth certificate with an “X” designation in place of his biological sex. Joshua M. Ferguson is a Vancouver-based filmmaker who says he considers himself “non-binary” because he is biologically male but grew up with more feminine features. Last year he applied to Service Ontario for a “non-binary” birth certificate, filed a human rights complaint when he was rejected, and has finally gotten his wish, CTV News reports. The move follows new guidelines Ontario adopted last year allowing certificates to display...

In boxing, a fighter’s weight is measured and reported to the audience. Size matters in a fight. I’m a 5’3” female and I weigh in at a whopping 104 lbs. (Tiny person, mighty spirit.) But presumably I wouldn’t do well fending off a physical attack. So when liberals started talking about female empowerment and fighting rapists, I got excited. Turns out, we had some disconnect on what empowerment really means. My internal conversation with liberals went something like this: Libs: “We need to empower women. We need to fight against rape and bad men. Gender equality!”Me: “Alright! Let’s teach women self defense,...

New York Mayor Bill De Blasio has announced that prisoners in the city will be housed according to the gender with which they identify instead of biological sex. "In New York City, we believe transgender rights are human rights. And we'll fight to protect those rights in city jails as well," he tweeted Monday. "It's the city's responsibility to protect the rights and safety of all New Yorkers, and that means protecting transgender individuals in city jails as well," the mayor said in a statement, according to AM NY. "New York City is one of the first major cities to...

cultural preferences, government decree and modern medical technology in the world’s two largest countries has created a gender imbalance on a continental scale. Men outnumber women by 70 million in China and India. The consequences of having too many men, now coming of age, are far-reaching: Beyond an epidemic of loneliness, the imbalance distorts labor markets, drives up savings rates in China and drives down consumption, artificially inflates certain property values, and parallels increases in violent crime, trafficking or prostitution in a growing number of locations.

If you want to empower women, stop talking about the mythical gender pay gap. ... It’s important to understand how the left is twisting numbers for political purposes, but it’s also vital to rebut the destructive message they’re sending. The subtext of Equal Pay Day is that women can’t. No matter how hard women work, no matter how smart they are, no matter their choices, women can’t earn as much as men. Try your hardest, sister, but your gender will keep you down.

When someone here has a name like Morgana, metmom, or MNdude, it is easy to guess the gender. However, I have to admit I probably do not know the gender of over half of you now when I think about it, even though I read posts from you for many years. If you have a gender-neutral name like reformedliberal, could you let us know which gender you really are? This way I will never accidentally call you ma'am if you are male!

Canada’s government says front-line employees may no longer use the terms “mother” and “father” in official correspondence. Instead, they must use gender-neutral terms like “parent” when speaking to the public. This directive was published Wednesday by Radio Canada, the French-language arm of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Other forbidden terms include “sir,” “madam,” “Mr.,” “Mrs.” and “Miss.” Instead, Service Canada’s front-line staff must call people by their full names until they have asked them how they wish to be addressed. An “In-Person Quality Monitoring Program” will oversee employees and ensure they comply with the new directive. “This avoids portraying a perceived...

NEW YORK (AP) — Whether Royal, Charlie or Salem, Skyler, Justice or Oakley, unisex names for babies are on the rise among parents more willing than ever to embrace the possibility of gender fluidity in their children and attempt to head off sexism on their behalf. “We’re definitely seeing more conversation today around the distinction of a truly gender-neutral name,” said Linda Murray, global editor-in-chief of BabyCenter.com. “This generation is truly interested in gender neutral names.” The Social Security Administration puts out a top 10 list of popular baby names every year based on its registrations, but it also keeps...

A student at Indiana University of Pennsylvania was kicked out of a religious studies course when he stood up in class to argue that, biologically, there are only two genders. As reported by Campus Reform, Religious Studies major Lake Ingle was in a class February 28 that included a video lecture by “transgender woman” Paula Stone Williams, a man who used to be a prominent pastor and church planter before deciding that he felt more comfortable as a woman.

As a female and a Republican – yes, shock and awe, there are women Republicans in Montgomery County – I cannot stop laughing at the recent decision by the Maryland Democrat Party to adopt separate but equal elections for their central committee members. Half of their central committee members must be female and the other half male, but that is not new. What is new is that during this year’s June 26 primary for 17 counties, each voter will HAVE to Vote for one or more MALES on the Male ballot and one or more FEMALES on the Female part...

My brother was kind enough to pass this article along to ruin my weekend: We Nneed the Singular ‘They’ – and It Won’t Seem Wrong For Long. He thought it could provide fodder for my Monday Moanin’ post, and that it did, splendiferously. He noted that while “it was written by an educated woman who clearly knows better, her allegiance to the 198 or so newly discovered genders demands that she take this position.”The article is written by Stephanie Golden, a ground breaking editor in her own right who has been serving humanity with gender equality copy since the late...

On Sunday night, in a restroom at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, I was washing my hands when someone in a crimson ballgown swept past me toward the stalls. There was something about this person's energy that was different than that of other women who were milling around, redoing their lipstick, chatting about the Oscars show. I felt I knew this person in the crimson gown. Or had seen them somewhere before. So I left the bathroom and waited outside, in the lobby. And when this person left the ladies room, I stopped them to chat.

In recent years, society has focused more on issues affecting girls and women than on those related to boys and men. But now, in all 63 of the largest developed nations, boys are falling behind girls in all academic subjects – especially the biggest predictors of success, reading and writing, in their mental health (depression, suicides), physical health (lower sperm counts), IQ, ability to create friends, and so on.Dr. Warren Farrell, who has written extensively on men and family, just released a book with co-author John Gray, the bestselling author of Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus. The Boy...

The Kennesaw State University LBGT Resource Center recently produced a new pamphlet that adds “ne,” “ve,” “ey,” “ze,” and “xe” to the list of gender neutral pronouns. *snip* The pamphlet—which lists seven different types of gender neutral pronouns—encourages students to ask their friends, classmates, and coworkers how they identitify before making any assumptions. The guide does warn, however, that students “may change their pronouns without changing their name, appearance, or gender identity,” and suggests that preferred pronouns be re-confirmed regularly during “check-ins at meetings or in class.”

Bosses of the BBC Proms have promised to make sure women make up half the contemporary composers whose music is performed each year. The Proms is among 45 international music festival and conferences that have pledged to achieve or maintain a 50/50 gender balance by 2022. David Pickard, director of BBC Proms, said: 'Achieving a 50/50 gender balance of contemporary composers is something we have been committed to for some time and consider vital to the creative development of the world's largest classical music festival.' At last year's festival, ten out of 29 contemporary composers were women.

Students at Carleton College recently hosted an “all-gender” rendition of The Vagina Monologues in an effort to eschew the play’s roots in a “cisgender lens.” While productions of The Vagina Monologues have been a mainstay of campus feminist groups since its debut in 1996, the play has often been criticized by college students for its lack of focus on people of color and trans students.
