Detroit has a long history of making stuff — cars, steel, even popcorn. Now, the city is home to a manufacturing facility devoted to the production of an item not made at this scale in the U.S. for decades: Wristwatches. A Dallas-based company has set up a production line for its Shinola brand of watches in Detroit. Shinola officials say their watch production target for this year is 45,000, to be sold online, at flagship stores in Detroit and New York and at fashion and jewelry retailers and department stores around the country.

George Carlin on environmentalism. Some inappropriate language. Not language that use or like but he totally demolishes the eco-wackos so I found it easy to overlook. Hilarious, brilliant, powerful.

A coalition of atheists and Christians will protest during World Youth Day against the Pope's visit to Sydney. With slogans including “Gay is great” and “Condoms save lives“, the NoToPope Coalition is planning a peaceful rally and march on July 19, the day Pope Benedict XVI travels to Randwick racecourse in Sydney's east.    “The Pope is homophobic,” coalition spokeswoman Rachel Evans said in a statement today.    “Pope Benedict also condemns millions of people to AIDS via his world-wide anti-condom policy.”    Members of the NoToPope Coalition include The Metropolitan Community Church, Atheists Sydney, The Socialist Alliance, Resistance, and Community Action Against...

FRIDAY24MARCH2006123456789101112............The Bill Of NO Rights... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- We, the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid any more riots, keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren, hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense guidelines for the terminally whiny, guilt ridden, delusional, and other bedwetters. We hold these truths to be self-evident: that a whole lot of people are confused by the Bill of Rights and are so dim that they require...

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common Sense who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. he will be remembered as having cultivated such value lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm and that life isnt always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (dont spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting stategies (adults, not kids, are...

With that said, Lets go through a few hurricane rules: (Unlike an earthquake, we know it's coming) #1. A mandatory evacuation means just that..Get the hell out. Don't blame the Government after they tell you to go. If they hadn't said anything, I can see the argument. They said get out... if you didn't, it's your fault, not theirs. (We don't want to...

This is sort of a quiet time of year for most people. Most news organizations do that tired old “that was the year that was” review, telling you all the stuff that you went through in the previous twelve months, as if your attention spans had been MTV’d down to around the goldfish level. You’re still sorting through all the wrapping paper you used at Christmas, hoping that your local Earth Liberation Front cell doesn’t get back at you for your blatant destruction of the forests by burning your house down. You’re still recovering from having relatives come and visit...

Comedian George Carlin, 67, known for his shockingly obscene monologues got himself in trouble in Las Vegas recently – but not because of his filthy mouth. In the his last performance at the MGM Grand after four years before 700 paying customers, he reportedly said: "People who go to Las Vegas, you've got to question their f-----g intellect – traveling hundreds and thousands of miles to essentially give your money to a large corporation is kind of f-----g moronic. That's why what I'm always getting here is these kind of f-----g people with very limited intellects." But that's not the...

December 7, 2004 -- GEORGE Carlin ended his relationship with the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with a devastating diss the other night. The caustic comic finished his four-year run with a dark set that included riffs on suicides and beheadings, and made it clear that he couldn't wait to get out of "this [bleeping] hotel" and Sin City.

Patriots: Anti-American comedian George Carlin is coming to Syracuse on Dec. 11th for a concert at the Landmark Theatre. Guess who's going to be there to greet him? Join me in letting George Carlin and his fans know that we take exception to his claim that 3000 Americans somehow deserved what they got on Sept. 11th. Spread the word, bring a friend, bring a sign. I wonder how many concert-goers are aware of his beliefs relative to the War on Terror and 9/11? Those plunking $40 to support this vile person and his affluent lifestyle might re-think that purchase if...

LOS ANGELES - George Carlin (news) famously dissected "The Seven Words You Can't Say on Television" as a way to explore what everyone was so uptight about. Thirty-two years later the same debate is still raging, now fueled by Janet Jackson (news)'s Super Bowl flash, the suspension of Howard Stern's raunchy radio show from six stations and new House legislation that would raise a performer's indecency fine from $11,000 to $500,000. So what does the 66-year-old Carlin think of the current handwringing over what is indecent, profane, obscene, immoral, lewd or insulting? "More of the same, more of the same....

I consider myself part of the base of the Republican party. I think everyone should own a gun. I think abortion should be outlawed, but I understand that at this point in time it will be difficult to accomplish. I think taxes should be cut, terrorists should be killed, and laws should be enforced. Government is a neccessary evil that we must deal with. It isn't my savior, and I shouldn't have to pay for it to be anyone else's either. Cut as much government spending as possible and force each person to be responsible for themselves. Once people realize...

HOW TAXES WORK... This is a VERY simple way to understand the tax laws. Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand. Suppose that every day ten men go out for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this. The first four men -- the poorest -- would pay nothing; the fifth would pay $1, the sixth would pay $3, the seventh $7, the eighth $12, the ninth $18 and the tenth man -- the richest -- would pay $59. That's...
