  • Vanity: Russian Conspiracy Theory, CrowdStrike, and the Atlantic Counsel

    04/04/2017 9:12:52 PM PDT · by TigerClaws · 41 replies
The key to all of this is the Atlantic Council. The vehemently anti-russian think tank that Dr. Farkas is a senior fellow. Most people think that the FBI analyzed the DNC servers and came to the conclusion based on their analysis that Russia hacked the DNC. That is not true. The DNC refused to let the FBI look at their servers. Instead the DNC hired a private company, Crowdstrike, to do an analysis of their servers. It was Crowdstrike that concluded that Russia hacked the DNC. They then turned over those findings to the FBI. If this sounds incredibly shady...
  • Mika Skeptical of Stephanopoulos as Dem Debate Moderator

File this one under A Liberal Discovers Media Bias . . . Back in 2012, George Stephanopoulos somehow was permitted to moderate a Republican primary debate, and proceeded to harangue frontrunner Mitt Romney on the arcane matter of the right of states to prohibit contraceptive sales, thus abetting the Dems' "GOP War on Women" narrative. Republicans were rightly outraged. Now, in an ironic twist, it's the turn of some liberals to doubt Stephanopoulos' ability to serve as an impartial moderatot . . . of a Dem debate. On today's Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski repeatedly expressed skepticism at the notion of...

Hillary Clinton says Donald Trump's strong standing in the Republican primary race can likely be boiled down to his time in the national spotlight. When asked by ABC's George Stephanopoulos on Sunday about Trump's status as the Republican front-runner, Clinton said Trump's appeal was rooted in his long stint as a reality-television star.

In the wake of the CNBC debate debacle, Joe Scarborough went on an epic rant on liberal media bias on today's Morning Joe. He summed things up this way, in challenging the panel: "you can't do it and nobody here can do it: name the single Republican that has hosted a Sunday show, that has been an anchor of a news network for the big three networks over the past 50 years: you can not do it." Mark Halperin largely agreed, saying "there's huge liberal media bias." But Mike Barnicle actually claimed that having fair moderators would be a bad...

Did Joe Scarborough just suggest that the suits at his own network are craven cowards who put bucks over ethics? On today's Morning Joe, Scarborough predicted that if Matt Lauer had pulled a Stephanopoulos, NBC would hesitate to punish him [just as ABC hasn't disciplined Steph], because Lauer's morning Today show "is where they make the money." • Mika Hits ABC's 'Lack of Judgment' In Hiring Stephanopoulos

On today's Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski criticized George Stephanopoulos for covering the story of the Clinton Foundation story without disclosing that he had donated to it. But Brzezinski's biggest blast was reserved for ABC, which had hired the hyper-partisan Clinton adviser in the first place. Brzezinski hit the "lack of judgment of the people who are hiring him to think that he can just erase [his close Clinton ties] from his brain." View the video here.

As this campaign season draws to an end, doubtless many will comment on what was right and what went wrong for each party. Let me beat the crowd by stating whatever the outcomes of the Congressional and state races the notion of Republicans continuing to allow Democratic operatives posing as newsmen and women to act as moderators in candidate debates is one of the most inexplicably stupid blunders of all. And yet each election it is repeated. Let this be the last time. Here are some names and incidents that should be engraved forever on the RNC steps and in...

There was a really delicious exchange on ABC’s This Week Sunday that conservatives across the fruited plain will greatly enjoy. After hate-spewing MSNBC contributor Michael Eric Dyson bashed former Vice President Dick Cheney for once wanting Nelson Mandela put on a terrorist list, Matalin shot back, “When will you ever get tired of beating up on Darth Vader” (video follows with transcript and commentary): Mary Matalin Smacks Down MSNBC’s Dyson: ‘Will You Ever Get Tired of Beating Up On Darth Vader? Speaking with Laura Ingraham this afternoon, George Stephanopoulos addressed Republican Sen. Rand Paul‘s suggestion that the ABC host purposely aided the Obama White House in driving the “war on women” narrative of 2012. In an interview with Geraldo Rivera last week, Sen. Paul asserted that Stephanopoulos’ “obscure” question about contraception during a GOP debate might hint that the newsman colluded with the Obama campaign to generate the resultant “war on women” narrative.

Last year NewsBusters repeatedly made the case that members of the press – in particular ABC’s George Stephanopoulos – aided and abetted President Obama’s claim that the Republicans were engaging in a so-called War on Women. In a radio interview with Geraldo Rivera Wednesday, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said this might have been the case (video follows with transcript and commentary): GERALDO RIVERA: Reince Priebus, the RNC chair was on the Republican, top politician on the Republican side, just saying that if CNN and NBC don’t cancel their planned films about Hillary Clinton, that he’s not going to allow any...

Mike Rogers (R-Mich.), the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, on Sunday had harsh words for the Guardian’s Glenn Greenwald revealing last week that the National Security Agency is looking at phone records of virtually all Americans. Appearing on ABC’s This Week, Rogers said, “I know your reporter that you interviewed, Greenwald, says that he’s got it all and now is an expert on the program. He doesn't have a clue how this thing works” (video follows with transcript): Congressman Rogers on NSA Phone Surveillance: ‘Greenwald Doesn’t Have a Clue How This Thing Works’ GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Finally, we're just about...

Ping-pong diplomacy worked with China, so why not b-ball diplomacy with North Korea? Mika Brzezinski is clearly not buying that line of logic. On today's Morning Joe, Brzezinski confessed to being "angry" with George Stephanopoulos for having the extraterrestrial otherwise known as Dennis Rodman on This Week to discuss his recent trip to North Korea, which included meeting with its new leader, Kim Jong Un. Mika didn't spare her fellow MJ panelists, calling them "idiots" when they persisted in discussing Rodman's trip and TW appearance. View the video here.

ABC’s Terry Moran was caught on-screen Sunday laughing as Barack Obama surrogate Martin O’Malley (D-Md.) bashed presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney. When the Nightline host filling in for This Week’s vacationing George Stephanopoulos realized he was on camera, he tempered his glee and put on a more serious face (video follows with transcript and commentary):

On this weekend’s broadcast of ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos,” outgoing Democratic Rep. Barney Frank locked horns with Tennessee Republican Rep. Marsha Blackburn, who wanted to focus on economic issues instead of gay marriage. Frank, an openly gay member of Congress, claimed that Blackburn was relying too heavily on talking points. Blackburn objected to Frank’s assertion, but then Frank lashed out at Blackburn and host George Stephanopoulos.

After last Saturday night’s Republican presidential debate, “Good Morning America” co-anchor and “This Week” moderator George Stephanopoulos took criticism for his handling of a debate question about contraception and his persistence on the issue with GOP front-runner Mitt Romney. On Comedy Central’s “The Colbert Report” on Wednesday, Stephanopoulos gave his side. The question “was about the right to privacy,” Stephanopoulos said. “One of the candidates said he believes the states have the right to ban contraception. I was asking Mitt Romney the same question.” ...more (w/video)...

ABC News commentator George Stephanopoulos has a previously undisclosed connection to President Obama – the two were part of a small group at Harvard University that met for a period of three years purportedly to promote involvement with U.S. community institutions. Participants at the research project, which took place between 1997 and 2000, included scores of individuals with ties to Obama, including several activists who were later appointed to positions in the Obama administration. Other participants were instrumental in promoting Obama’s political career. Just yesterday, Stephanopoulos was the subject of conservative criticism for pointed questions he asked Republican presidential candidates...

Karl Rove thinks Mitt Romney probably should have begun attacks on Newt Gingrich much earlier in the presidential campaign, he told me on Good Morning America. But Rove is not convinced that a drawn out primary will hurt Republicans and he said a fight for their nomination could create a better nominee to face President Obama. Rove said he is not very impressed with the attacks that Romney has launched so far. Today he described them as “flailing” so far.
