Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Gharibashvili announced on June 12 that his country is considering a draft law that would put an end to the country’s booming foreign surrogacy business. The Health, Labor, and Social Affairs Ministry’s current law would put an end to the country’s women carrying and delivering the biological children of foreigners after 2023. Gharibashvili cited several reasons for the law change, including safety concerns, human trafficking risks, and the fear that children are going to the homes of same-sex couples. “There are reports that same-sex couples are picking up the babies born here and there can...

"Mattress Mack," also known as Houston furniture store owner Jim McIngvale, has placed a $1.2 million bet on the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide (+125) to defeat the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs in the College Football Playoff National Championship (Jan. 10, 8 p.m. ET on ESPN). Should he win the bet, placed through Caesars Sportsbook, McIngvale would win $1.5 million. Mattress Mack said Georgia (-3) being listed as an early favorite got his attention and created a promotion at his stores tied to Alabama.

Georgia VBM numbers appear promising for Trump. Superficially, Democrats have a large lead in requested and returned VBM ballots. Black voters have requested 31% of VBM ballots, and have returned roughly 33% of VBM ballots, a number a little above their voter registration %. Not surprising as there is a well-funded black senate candidate on the ballot AND the DNC/state party have been pushing VBM. However, there is a lot of good news. First, men are returning a higher share (14.4%) of their VBM than women (13.2%). Second, Fulton County (Atlanta) voters have only returned 5% of their VBM as...

Tim Shaw, a police chief in Temple, Ga., remembers well his run-in with a "sovereign citizen." The individual, part of a movement that claims the laws of the land do not apply to them, started harassing him about a year ago, following a traffic stop by one of his officers. The individual began sending a string of bizarre legal documents demanding more than $800,000. Shaw then received a set of driving directions -- from his harasser's house to his house, and to his parent's house in Florida. "He was trying to extort over $800,000 out of me," Shaw said. Thankfully...

ABOARD THE USS MOUNT WHITNEY (AP) — The flagship of the U.S. Navy's Mediterranean fleet has delivered 17 tons of humanitarian aid to a strategic Georgian port — and Russian troops have been watching every move. (snip) U.S. Naval officers say a Russian warship trailed the American ship across the Black Sea. They also say Russian military forces onshore were keeping a close eye on the Mount Whitney from a position just 3 miles away...

Despite the team’s 8-1 record and an offense that’s averaging 32 points per game, you won’t find the North Georgia Falcons ranked among the top 10 in the latest prep football poll. You also won’t find them running drills on a freshly-cut practice field, or playing a game in front of a packed stadium on any given Friday night. In fact, you won’t find the Falcons doing many of the things that are taken for granted by the state-sanctioned high school football teams in Georgia. But what you will find when you finally locate these Falcons — who sometimes practice...
