  • The Audacity of Barnes & Noble: Search for 'God' Yields Obama Book

NewsBusters reader Shane S. shared this experience: I was searching for a book I read in college, "God: A Biography." I searched Barnes & Noble's website using the book's title as my search term. The book I was looking for was the first result given. The second result? "The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream" by the Messiah Himself, Barack Obama. I tried the experiment myself, and sure enough. Here's the link to the search page. After the jump you'll see the image of the search page result.

If ever y'all get back around to discussing RKBA, like real Republicans, I am ready to listen. I would really prefer a one on one debate with Rudy, but I don't expect the little urban pissant to have the balls, to take on, a "real" American!

Sorry folks, but I can no longer lend my support to the War on Terror. I'm tired of being lied to by our elected leadership. What am I talking you about, you ask? Specifically, when I'm a told by the President of the United States, that Islam is a "Religion of Peace". How am I supposed to square that statement with reality? How am I supposed to support the decision and policies of our government in waging war when our leaders can't even begin to tell the truth about the enemy we're fighting? If the president fears he may offend...

Our right to peace and quiet is guaranteed by fining taxi drivers from India who honk as they drive: a habit acquired through years of dodging cycles, cows, cars and the carefree in the crowded streets of Calcutta and Karachi. Flights are not allowed to land in Washington DC beyond late evening so that those living around the airport enjoy what is now widely regarded as the human right to undisturbed sleep. Yet, noise pollution, practised with abandon in your face and in your ears, is tolerated in enclosed spaces in buses, trains, restaurants and cinemas and is spreading like...

EATING disorders aren't just for girls anymore. Dennis Quaid confesses in the new issue of Best Life that he battled "manorexia" in the mid-'90s. After losing 40 pounds to play Doc Holliday in "Wyatt Earp," Quaid says, "My arms were so skinny that I couldn't pull myself out of a pool. I'd look in the mirror and still see a 180-pound guy, even though I was 138 pounds." Quaid, now fit and elegant on the mag's cover, says, "for many years, I was obsessed about what I was eating, how many calories it had, and how much exercise I'd have...
  • Slovakia Outraged by 'Hostel' (CLUELESS IN HOLLYWOOD ALERT)

Government officials in Slovakia have expressed their concern that new backpacker horror movie Hostel makes their country appear dangerous. The Eli Roth-directed movie, which shows three travelers heading to a Slovakian city and falling prey to a brutal torture ring, has caused outrage among the country's politicians, who feel it will tarnish their nation's reputation. Member of Parliament Tomas Galbavy says, "I am offended by this film. I think that all Slovaks should feel offended." Galbavy called Hostel, which was shot in the neighboring Czech Republic, "a monstrosity that does not at all reflect reality" and added it would "damage...

Clooney: I ruined Kerry's presidential race Ireland Online ^ | 1/14/06 | Ireland Online Posted on 01/14/2006 5:31:52 PM PST by wagglebee George Clooney is convinced he ruined John Kerry's chances in the race for US president in 2004 - by snubbing an invitation and hurting his feelings. The Ocean's Twelve actor was one of several screen stars invited to ride on Kerry's election train, but it all went downhill for the Democrat when Clooney stayed away. He recalls: "Kerry asked me to ride on his train - he had a train going cross-country after he was nominated and some...

I decided to end my self-imposed exile from posting due to information that I received this past weekend from Ďa little birdieí in Washington, which I subsequently had confirmed by another Ďinsiderí if you can call him that. You know I wonít tell, so donít bother asking me for names, links, or further information. I trust these individuals, and have received accurate information from them before and shared it here on Free Republic. Of course, all are free to either accept or reject what I am about to share, but if you know anything about the Dog, I donít change...

On this day in 1933, Wiley Post touched down his airplane in New York, becoming the first pilot to fly solo around the globe! On this day in 1934, Public Enemy #1, John Dillinger, was gunned down in the streets of Chicago. And on this day in 2004, the one and only Dashing Dasher, after slamming down 4 martinis, signed up on FreeRepublic. These historic events have much in common. Wiley Post was a brave pilot, risking life and limb in a rickety single engine plane. Dasher is FR's resident pilot racer, tormenting her male colleagues above the western fruited...

Six months ago, Free Republic was riding high, and I was proud to be a part of it. It was coming off having blown the cover off of Dan Ratherís use of forged memos against the President. The President was well on his way to winning re-election. It was a great time to be a Freeper. However, things have changed. It started with the justifiable removal of ALIPAC. I supported that move by Jim Robinson, but the ugliness directed towards Alberto Gonzales. He was accused of everything under the sun, and Senator Mel Martinez was viciously attacked for speaking Spanish...

It's time for anyone considering retirement in Florida to SERIOUSLY re-think their plans. There are many other states (and countries, for that matter) where they will be safer from murder under the color of authority when they get a little infirm and inconvienent. If you are retired in Florida, and you are still able, you might consider getting out while you still can... Let Florida know killing the inconvenient has economic consequences.

The last few months I've seen an increasing trend for FReepers to start going for each others jugular. Sometimes we forget (I've certainly done it myself) that in the grand scheme of things, we are on the same team. We may disagree on priorities or how far we are willing to go, but we have enough enemy in the left without creating more amongst ourselves. We can disagree but be civil to each other. We can debate nuance, but not believe that our personal positions are more important than the health of the whole. Let's argue vigorously but remind ourselves...

I've e-mailed them once, and it doesn't seem to be getting their attention. Julian Phillips on the weekend Fox and Friends is blatantly shoving his liberal crap down the throats of the viewers. Not only that, but he keeps calling our President just "Bush" Here is an example of what he has been saying... "Bush needs to be held accountable if we don't find these weapons of mass destruction. I understand that they are hard to find, but thats the only reason Bush went in there in the first place." He said over and over virtually the same thing yesterday,...
