I admit that I am truly baffled and quite irked by the decision of Premiere Radio Networks to hire Senator John McCain's daughter, Meghan McCain, to host the nationally syndicated radio talk show, America Now. I'm baffled, because America Now is carried on conservative talk radio stations, and Meghan McCain is not a conservative (more on that in a moment), so conservative talk show listeners will tune out each time she signs on. That's a fact. We are bombarded with leftist media tripe everywhere we turn. We don't want it on our conservative talk stations, too, thank you very much....

No group in the United States today is making a stronger stand for liberty than the Little Sisters of the Poor, an order of Catholic nuns dedicated to running nursing homes for the elderly poor. Every friend of freedom should rally to their cause. The federal government is now seeking to deny these sisters freedom of conscience. It has already taken its case against their liberty all the way through the U.S. Court of Appeal for the 10th Circuit. If the government succeeds, it means Catholic nuns in this country can no longer freely exercise their Catholic faith. They must...

So sad. A Canadian arctic research expedition to study "climate change" (always meaning global warming) has been derailed. Why? Heavy ice. However, readers of the CBC News account of the story are left in the dark as to the exact nature of the expedition that is not to be this year. Fortunately, a quick search has turned up a Daily Kos Kossack who is a member of that attempted expedition who was happily chirping out what it is all about last Thursday. Here is the CBC News report that tells what happened to the Canadian Coast guard cutter without telling us what the...

Mayors emboldened by an appeal from Pope Francis are committing themselves to a new set of U.N. goals to end poverty and promote sustainable development over the next 15 years. At the end of a two-day Vatican summit on Wednesday, several dozen mayors from around the world unanimously adopted a declaration pledging to endorse the goals and work to implement them in their home cities. …

While leaders meet in the Vatican for a climate conference, talk of record high global temperatures will fuel hysteria. But there's truly nothing to see here. Voices of the unreasonable screeched Tuesday across St. Peter's Square. California Gov. Jerry Brown was the most colorful. He took the opportunity to call anyone who doesn't believe in man-made global warming as he does a "denier," which is also the pejorative used to describe those who say the Holocaust never happened. He also called those who don't conform to his way of thinking "troglodytes." New York Mayor Bill de Blasio joined the choir,...

Pope Francis is not as popular a pontiff as he used to be in the United States — especially among conservatives — according to a new Gallup survey out Wednesday. A larger share of American Catholics say they don’t have a favorable view of their church’s spiritual leader. A little more than seven in 10 (71 percent) have a favorable image of Francis, a drop of 18 percentage points from last year.

Vatican City, Jul 22, 2015 / 03:31 am (CNA).- Pope Francis’ recent trip to Latin America has rekindled questions about whether he endorses socialism, or even communism. The gift of a “communist crucifix” from Bolivia’s president Evo Morales and uncertainty over the Pope’s response fueled controversy for several days, while Morales told the Associated Press after the visit that he thought that the Pope’s emphasis on a world without exclusion amounts to socialism. “I don't know whether it’s communism, but it is socialism. He's talking about community, about living in harmony,” Morales said July 10. He added: “I feel like...

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, late as usual, arrived in Rome Tuesday morning to pontificate at the Vatican about the dangers of climate change. Delayed by fog that forced his plane to land in Milan, de Blasio arrived 80 minutes after his allotted time to speak at the gathering of mayors invited by the Vatican. Once he was given time to speak, though, he waxed eloquent about “powerful corporate interests,” adding, “Is it not the definition of insanity to propagate corporate policies and consumer habits that hasten the destruction of the earth?”

Heavy ice in Hudson Bay derails CCGS Amundsen's research plans http://t.co/HUUDCMStkm pic.twitter.com/DLlYFAcqjq— CBC Canadian News (@CBCCanada) July 22, 2015 You don’t say…According to a Coast Guard officer, the icy conditions are the “worst he’s seen in 20 years“: A carefully planned, 115-day scientific expedition on board the floating research vessel, the CCGS Amundsen, has been derailed as the icebreaker was called to help resupply ships navigate heavy ice in Hudson Bay.“Obviously it has a large impact on us,†says Martin Fortier, executive director of ArcticNet, which coordinates research on the vessel. “It’s a frustrating situation.â€During the summer, the Amundsen operates...

"Climate change is not science fiction"Arnold Schwarzenegger has added climate change advocate to his resume. The actor and former California governor has been selected by the French government to join Nobel Peace Prize winners, U.N. secretary generals and Pope Francis to advocate on behalf of the environment ahead of the U.N. climate change meeting in Paris in December. “I’ve starred in a lot of science fiction movies and, let me tell you something, climate change is not science fiction,

Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley blamed climate change in part for the rise of the Islamic State terrorist organization Monday in an interview with Bloomberg’s With All Due Respect. “One of the things that preceded the failure of the nation state of Syria and the rise of ISIS was the effect of climate change and the mega-drought that affected that nation, wiped out farmers, drove people to cities, created a humanitarian crisis that created the symptoms, or rather, the conditions of extreme poverty that has now led to the rise of ISIS and this extreme violence,” he said.

Recent reports have unveiled the utterly barbaric practices of Planned Parenthood. Not only do doctors snuff out the lives of millions of unborn children— they allegedly transfer and sell their body parts. That is deplorable, and Americans across the country have been righteously outraged. The discovery comes weeks after the Iowa Supreme Court ruled in favor of Planned Parenthood and reauthorized the practice of telemedical abortions. Contradicting a 2013 conclusion by the Iowa Board of Medicine that telemed abortions should cease, the Court cleared a path to take the lives of the unborn through drugs authorized via webcam and administered at...

In the wake of last month’s Supreme Court ruling establishing same-sex marriage as a nationwide constitutional right, critics and supporters of the decision alike wondered what the future might hold for Americans of faith whose objections to such unions were unswayed by the judicial outcome. Will Evangelical photographers, Muslim florists, and Catholic bakers be coerced into serving gay weddings, or will they be sued and harassed into dust by the Left’s highly-choreographed pro-“tolerance†enforcement squad? Early indicators are mixed, so expect a lot more litigation on this front in the coming years, including lawsuits against churches and religious charities....

Thank goodness we last November gave the Republicans the Senate majority.Who besides the GOP would resurrect government money for ridiculous “green” “energy” – which is neither green nor energy? To the tune of tens (if not hundreds) of billions of dollars more down the juice-less rat hole. Oh yeah – every Democrat on the planet. Senate May Revive Expired Green Energy Tax SubsidiesThe Senate finance committee will be holding a markup hearing on expired tax subsidies members want to be revived for their constituents and campaign supporters, and this includes now defunct subsidies for green energy.A document released by...

Gov. Jerry Brown, in an ominous appeal on climate change, said Tuesday that the world may already have “gone over the edge” on global warming and that humanity must reverse course or face extinction. “We don’t even know how far we’ve gone, or if we’ve gone over the edge,” Brown said at a climate summit at the Vatican. “There are tipping points, feedback loops, this is not some linear set of problems that we can predict. We have to take measures against an uncertain future which may well be something no one ever wants. We are talking about extinction. We...

After ostensibly trying to separate global warming from national security concerns, Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley Monday jumped on the bandwagon of those claiming global warming created the conditions necessary for Islamic State to grow.“One of the things that preceded the failure of the nation-state of Syria and the rise of ISIS was the effect of climate change and the mega-drought that affected that region, wiped out farmers, drove people to cities, created a humanitarian crisis that created the symptoms — or rather the conditions of extreme poverty — that has now led to the rise of ISIL and this...

Ioane Teitiota has been battling deportation to Kiribati since 2011, when he overstayed his visa. He argues he faces indirect persecution from global warming in his home country. In its decision, the Supreme Court said while Kiribati undoubtedly faces challenges, Mr Teitiota did not face serious harm if he was returned there. The court said there was no evidence the government of Kiribati was failing to take steps to protect its citizens from the effects of environmental degradation. Kiribati's president, Anote Tong, recently described climate change as the biggest humanitarian challenge of our time. He said Kiribati and other low-lying...

As usual, the neo-Catholic cover-up of disaster has failed. Pope Francis not only accepted but took home with him the blasphemous depiction of Christ on a hammer and sickle—the very symbol of the massacre of scores of millions of Christians in the name of an ideology whose aim was to wipe Christianity off the face of the earth. As Francis revealed on the flight home during his usual off-the-cuff blabbing to reporters: Reporter on plane: Did you leave it there [in Bolivia]? Pope Francis: No, it’s traveling with me. Of course, Francis never said: “that’s not right” when presented with...

The plan for a museum in the city that would focus on climate and climate change, with exhibits that could relate to health, social justice and rain-delayed baseball games, moved a step forward Monday, officials said. The state Board of Regents, meeting in Albany, approved a five-year provisional charter for the museum, Regents spokesman Tom Dunn said. The vote means “there is absolutely going to be a museum,” said Miranda Massie, executive director of the Climate Museum Launch Project. She said the museum is now “empowered to hold collections in trust for the public.” Supporters say it would be the...
