California would need to triple the rate of emissions cuts that the state has undertaken since 2010 in order to meet its climate goals for 2030, a new report has found. The Golden State’s aim of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40 percent below 1990’s levels by 2030 may be unachievable, according to this year’s California Green Innovation Index, released Thursday by the San Francisco-based nonprofit Next 10. After California’s emissions plunged during the pandemic, they jumped 3.4 percent, per the report, prepared by Beacon Economics and citing information from the California Air Resources Board (CARB). “The increase in emissions...

Meeting federal emissions goals may require federal agencies to acquire about 30,000 emissions-free vehicles per year and about 25 times the current number of charging ports, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO). The Biden administration in December issued an executive order mandating all new federal vehicle acquisitions be emissions-free by 2035, with the requirement applying to all light-duty vehicle acquisitions by 2027. The order covers about 380,000 vehicles, including about 260,000 light-duty vehicles, according to the GAO report.

The 1958 book by Cleon Skousen, The Naked Communist , set forth 45 goals communists need to achieve to take over the United States without firing a shot. Some of them are outdated and immaterial. Some are debatable. Let’s see how many commie goals have been achieved. 7. Grant recognition of Red China. Admission of Red China to the U.N. DONE. The United Nations General Assembly Resolution 2758 made Communist China a member of the U.N. Today, China is one of five permanent members. 15. Capture one or both of the political parties in the United States. DONE. Communists were...

I am a big goal-setter. Every January 1st, my wife and I have a goal-setting date. We’ve done it for years and years, and we go to the same restaurant every year. We sit down, and I have this notebook. We go through last year’s goals, this year’s goals, and where we want to be. And then we do it with the company, as well. We do a company retreat at the beginning of the year and figure out where we want to get to. And then all of this COVID-19 stuff happened, so we just took all of our...

The First Amendment to the United States Constitution reads: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” When the amendments to Constitution were set forth and codified, the word “Abridged” meant: “deprive, to reduce in scope, to diminish.” Yet complicit with Congress, that is exactly what the so-called “press” is committed to doing to you and me. The very first newspaper published in...

**SNIP** But Douglas Holtz-Eakin, a former Congressional Budget Office director who has advised Republican leaders, said Mr. Obama may not be able to convince the country that he has made enough progress fixing the economy. “It will be an uphill battle, as his policy record on growth is not strong, the recovery is still unsatisfying and the inequality message is not popular, which is why he abandoned it so quickly after declaring it the issue of our time,” he said. Stuart Stevens, an adviser to Mr. Romney during his 2012 presidential campaign, said Mr. Obama has no popular mandate for...

With the 114th U.S. Congress having launched Jan. 3, it's time we the people step up and hold our representatives' political feet to the fire in order to see real, demonstrable change that will heal and improve our country, especially during these last two critical years of Barack Obama's presidency. Here are my top 10 resolutions for the new Congress: 10) Reel in executive power and presidential orders.I know that every president since the dawn of our republic has used executive orders. Theodore Roosevelt was the first to rack up over 1,000 during his nearly eight years in office. But...

. September 12, 2014 Newt Gingrich : The Five Strategic Failures in President Obama's ISIS Speech ===================================================== President Obama gave a pretty good speech Wednesday night. Pressured by the American people's overwhelming support for defeating ISIS, President Obama gave a speech his predecessor, President George W. Bush could have applauded. Many of President Obama's words were reassuring. He was dedicated to defeating ISIS. He would pursue anyone who threatened America. He was committed to a long, difficult campaign. Unfortunately for the President and the country, there were five major strategic flaws in his speech. These flaws are so profound that...

A group calling themselves "White Roses" created a video to inform non-Muslims about Islam. The name of this video is Three Things About Islam. White Roses is headquartered in Sweden. This first version is in English. The name "White Roses" is based on a student resistance group "Die weiße Rose" in Nazi Germany. The group became known for an anonymous leaflet campaign, from June 1942 until February 1943, which called for active opposition to Adolf Hitler's regime. I urge all of you to view this video and forward it to your E mail list. You may be familiar with the...

In the wake of President Obama’s liberal Progressive second Inaugural speech, it is time for another look at greater underlying agendas and perhaps a time to remember that Progressivism = Socialism = Fascism = Marxism = Communism. Ask almost anyone and you’ll hear, “Communism is dead! The Berlin wall came down, the USSR is gone, China is our trading partner, the cold war is over…” That is one of the problems with America and the western world; we live in the now and our attention span and planning is short term unlike those in movements promoting Communism, Marxism, Socialism, Fascism,...

It's the beginning of a new year and a great chance to start over -- but how? Here are 10 ways to gain a fresh start in 2013. 1) What's past is past. Wipe all the disappointments of 2012 from your mind. They cannot be changed, and any amount of dwelling and wallowing will not help. Pretend you have amnesia and that it never happened, while retaining the lessons learned from the experience. Then do this again every month, every week, every morning. 2) Define success. Whether it be money made, time spent, lives changed, experiences created, every person has...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A $500-million "green jobs" program to train U.S. workers for new jobs and help spark recovery from the great recession has fallen far short of its goals, according to a report from the Labor Department's internal watchdog released on Friday. As of June 30, fewer than 31,000 people who went through training programs got green jobs, only 38 percent of what had been projected, the department's Inspector General said in the report. Of those workers, less than 12,000 kept these jobs for more than six months, a mere 16 percent of what organizations that got grants had...

California's increasing use of renewable power will come at a price, pushing up electricity bills across the state. And while it's impossible to tell how big the cost to consumers will be, some experts fear the total cost of renewable energy in California will be in the billions of dollars. In the next three years, many long-planned solar plants and wind farms will come online, bringing California closer to its goal of getting one-third of the state's electricity from renewable sources by 2020. As soon as they start delivering power to utility companies, the utilities' customers will start paying for...

Getting healthy is a top priority One of my New Year’s resolutions is health-related. I’m not alone. Steve Vernon of moneywatch.com states: “According to a recent poll taken by the Society of Actuaries, about 80 percent of respondents said that taking care of their health was their top strategy for managing their medical bills, well ahead of buying medical insurance.” He advises: “Take just a few steps in January to establish good nutrition habits, and you’ll be well on your way to improving your health and increasing your lifespan.” (In America, it will take energy to escape Obama-approved death panels.)...

It’s nice to be right once in a while. This was that while: taking into account Romero’s performance, it was easy to guess that Argentina would never have a chance against Germany. But can we work our statistical magic for the rest of the tournament, and answer such questions as: Is the World Cup getting harder to win? Is the game becoming more rambunctious? And what will be the likely outcome? The first Cup was held in 1930: there were only 13 teams that participated, and over the course of 18 games, 80 goals were made. Only one man was...

Would Obama dare tell Russian to make goodwill gestures toward the attackers? As Jews worldwide prepared for Seder night, the Russian capital was rocked by twin blasts that left 39 dead and scores wounded, some of them critically. Muslim terrorists in the Caucuses apparently blew themselves up during the morning rush hours with the aim of killing as many passersby as possible. Yesterday, two more explosions were detonated in Kizlyar, near the Dagestan-Chechnya border. As crowds gathered after the first car bomb went off, another was triggered to hit onlookers and rescuers. We in Israel are unfortunately no strangers to...

WASHINGTON, Dec. 14, 2009 – The active-duty services met or exceeded their November recruiting goals, Defense Department officials announced today. Of the six reserve-component services, only the Army National Guard and Air National Guard did not meet their goals; however, officials said, that’s because officials adjusted November accessions to make up for projections that the Guard components would exceed their authorized strength. Here’s the November recruiting breakdown: -- Army: 7,063 accessions with a goal of 6,858 for 103 percent; -- Navy: 3,291 accessions with a goal of 3,291 for 100 percent; -- Marine Corps: 1,789 accessions with a goal of...
