Marie Gardner, a past President of The Gold Star Mothers past away last friday and I thought others should know about her passing. What surprised me about this is, I did a search for an article and was dumbfounded...not a peep, nada, nothing in the news. A woman who met Presidents, spoke nationally, received awards...nothing! An Open Letter From Gold Star Mom Debbie Lee To President Obama It is with a heavy heart for my country that I write to you today. I pray that you will be inspired, challenged, and that you will reconsider decisions that you have made in the past week since you took the oath to preserve, protect and defend our constitution. Many in my family have taken a similar oath in the military including my sons Kristofer & Marc, my son-in-law Chris, my brother Jim and my Father. “I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and...

Lord God, there is no other God but You. You alone are Savior. You alone are Redeemer. When we trust in You, when we fear You alone, there You are, by our sides, protecting, providing in Your ever-perfect Way….especially when we do not understand. Lord God, You came on that first Christmas as the Prince of Peace – not the Prince of peace as the world defines it but the peace which You bring to tortured souls, the peace which surpasses understanding and the peace between Jew and Gentile that anyone, yes, anyone who proclaims belief in You as Savior...

SIERRA VISTA — Allison Taylor has been in Girl Scouts since she was in kindergarten. And over the summer, the 17-year-old earned the highest award she could as a Girl Scout, the Gold Award, making her the first person in Senior/Ambassador Troop 785 from the Fort Huachuca Service Unit — to the best of the current troop leaders’ knowledge — to receive it. “It’s such a rare thing, but the leadership qualities you gain from earning it I really wanted,” Taylor said of her decision to work toward the award. For her project, Taylor wanted to do something that would...

After standing with the D.C. Chapter at Arlington National Cemetery Monday morning to protest Cindy Sheehan's campaign rally there, two women whose husbands were killed serving in Iraq confronted Sheehan and her supporters outside Rep. John Conyers' office on Capitol Hill several hours later. The two Gold Star wives stood in the hallway right outside the door to Conyers' office to rebuke Sheehan for betraying the sacrifices made by their husbands. Sheehan blew them off, raising and extending her right hand to ward them off as she approached the office and the assembled media horde. Sheehan's posse quickly surrounded the wives,...

As if the embattled White House didn't have enough problems, it's apparently decided to follow a policy that insults the families of Marines killed in Vietnam. Christina Stacey, spokeswoman for U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, D-4, McCandless Township, called to tell us about the saga of Ellwood City resident Allys Boyer, 84, and her two daughters, Sandra Lee Boyer of Zelienople and Beverly Boyer of Arizona. Allys Boyer's 22-year-old son, Cpl. Larry Boyer, was killed in May 1969 while on patrol. After much research, I have discovered many Gold Star parents who are in the same financial boat. Benifits from our fallen heros go to the spouse and children, as it should be. Many parents however, do not have the funds to travel to events for families of the fallen. I have even applied to some for help with airfare. I would like to start a non-profit for this specific reason, help for the parents of fallen heroes. If there is an attorney in California that can help me file the papers, please freepmail me. Thank you, Deb Argel Bastian Proud...

The Clinton era is again pointing the finger at the Bush Administration. What else is new? I am looking forward to the ads produced by Move America Forward, in an effort to call the Clinton Administration to task. Mr. Clinton has recently claimed that he did everything possible in the war on terror. I want to remind readers just what the Clinton Administration did for our troops. In 1996, Hillary banned the military uniform from the White House. President Clinton cut our troops in half, sending them to the welfare line and the poor troops applying for food stamps. He...

For the past eight months, my son, who grew up with sea breezes and San Diego sunshine, has lived in a place called the “Triangle of Death.” Not that that's how I've addressed the letters I've sent him since his second deployment in Iraq began. Roman's official Army address is a code-like combination of letters and numbers. The “AA” after the number “101” means Air Assault. The “INF” after the “1-502” stands for infantry. The “2BCT”? Not sure about that one. “Triangle of Death” is how people in the media refer to the area south of Baghdad patrolled by Sgt....

..... Honor our fallen heroes ------------------------------- Posted: May 26, 2006 1:00 a.m. Eastern© 2006 WorldNetDaily.com Today, millions of families across America will begin packing their bags and getting ready for the Memorial Day weekend. I wonder how many people will take the time to actually pay tribute to the true intention of the holiday: to honor those who have given their lives for the cause of American freedom. The barbecues, swim parties and discount sales at the shopping malls continue unabated, but the holiday's true significance seems to have faded for some in this nation. It's sad to see some...

Tracy 's support for war may be waning Phil Hayworth Tracy Press Have the deaths of five Tracy servicemen softened public support here for the war in Iraq? It’s difficult to tell. Most of Tracy’s 80,000 residents are transplants from somewhere else, and their sentiments about the war seem as amorphous as Tracy’s ever-changing demographics. The one stark fact is that Tracy has lost more servicemen per capita than any city in California: 6.25 per 100,000. “My feeling is that the people who cheered and yelled when the thing first started are not as gung ho as they once were,”...

In Minnesota we are in the middle of a story that has dropped from view in the media, but it is a story that should attain national prominence. The Democratic Party has undertaken a campaign to suppress two advertisements giving voice to the sentiments of Iraq war veterans and Gold Star Families who support the war. Brian Melendez is the chairman of the Minnesota Democratic Party. This past Thursday Melendez called a press conference and condemned the first of the two advertisements -- the one featuring the veterans -- as "un-American, untruthful and a lie." When Cindy Sheehan showed up outside of President Bush's Crawford, TX ranch in August, it was, to a certain degree, understandable that there would be some press coverage. She was there, the media was there, there wasn't alot to talk about. But the coverage was weak and biased in almost all cases, carrying her message uncritically, with no evaluation of who she was or what she was saying. The attitude seemed to be that she lost her son, she was criticizing the President, so she was credible and newsworthy, no matter what else there was in her views and attitudes....
