I fundamentally disagree that Republicans (or Conservatives, or the Tea Party) lost on this.

It was a fight worth having, and left us in a very good position for what’s coming: a focus on the implosion of healthcare.gov and how it’s going to undermine confidence in government and the Democrats, driving the collapse of Obamacare.

Ezra Kleins panic stricken piece in the WaPo points the way forward for us. At Halloween social gatherings, and around the Thanksgiving table and Christmas tree the discussion WILL be about the major and insumountable implementation problems.

Come January and February, when the shutdown and debt ceiling get revisited, Obama will probably be BEGGING for a delay. Will the Republicans be able to stand up and say “NO!”, though?

I wish they were just clueless however I firmly believe that the two parties are just different sides of the same coin. The ‘business as usual’ is about power and money. Nothing more. They all understand the basics of exponential math. They know that this whole economic/financial mess will end badly, that their polices and the polices that they have allowed are the causes of the nations predicament. I feel badly for my kids, grand-kids as they are going to be the ones that will have to suffer for the stupidity of my generation.

Certainly, mistakes were made — either by Ted Cruz and House hardliners (as I believe) or by Republicans who disagreed with Cruz’s approach. And, in principle, it is time to move on.

I withdrew my Republican affiliation some time ago. The next election I got one call from a staffer for a Democratic candidate for the US Senate.

I haven’t been contacted by any Democrats since.

After watching this debacle, and the way that true America loving conservatives were treated by their own party, I have decided to pay a visit to the county registrar and change my affiliation to Independent. I understand this will now mean I’ll be bombarded with ‘Rat literature along with Repub. stuff in the run up to elections, but I just don’t want to be a member of a party that will eat its own. We are in a nightmare and we can’t wake up. It looks like Virginia is now rushing headlong into making the same mistake that the country made in ‘08, by electing a governor whose only experience is in sleazy ‘Rat fund raising and helping the Clintons bury the bodies. It took us 4 election cycles, 16 years, after Goldwater’s defeat for the Reagan Revolution to win. I’m willing to wait again if that’s what it takes.

If the Republican elite give the boot to the Tea Party wing, then the Democrats will compete with and compromise with an unprincipled democratic-socialist party. They can work with that since it’s really no different from the Democrat Party except in relatively insignificant details and it keeps the facade of present real choices to voters.

Yet POTUS Obama decided to manipulate the facts into a full blown racial incident to furthur a socialist concept and inflame a political base makes the Je Accuse Dreyfus scandal look like French pastry.

Letting POTUS Obama and his media get away with this travesty particularly by the clueless political opposition boggles the mind. But the facts are that’s what the conservative movement called the “tea party” is dealing with those leading the retreat into oblivion..
