It's time India got angry and stopped all this 'bouncing back' nonsense By Amrit Dhillon in Bombay (Filed: 16/07/2006) A backlash against the authorities is taking hold in Bombay, five days after the bombings that killed 181 commuters and injured almost 900. There is a sense of anger and betrayal among those living in India's commercial capital that the state has failed to protect them from yet another terrorist attack. A Hindu demonstrator expresses his anger "Blood has become cheaper than water," said Atul Pataonde, a shopkeeper in the Bandra district. "These bombs keep happening but nothing changes." To many...

If we've got a missile, let's fire it into George Bush's window, say N Koreans Sergey Soukhorukov in Pyongyang and Colin Freeman (Filed: 25/06/2006) In a land where anti-Western propaganda is the norm, one might have expected a triumphant state broadcast - or, perhaps, a rallying denunciation of "American lies". But last week, as North Korea created a diplomatic storm over claims that it was preparing to test fire a missile that could hit the United States, television sets in Pyongyang were tuned into a rather different drama. North Koreans have long been urged to hate the United States Instead...

Think Pompeii got hit hard? Worse eruptions lurk By Maggie Fox, Health and Science Correspondent Mon Mar 6, 5:03 PM ET WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- The preserved footprints and abandoned homes of villagers who fled a giant eruption of Mount Vesuvius 3,800 years ago show the volcano could destroy modern-day Naples with little warning, Italian and U.S. researchers reported on Monday. The eruption buried entire villages as far as 15 miles (25 kilometres) from the volcano, cooking people as they tried to escape and dumping several feet (metres) of ash and mud. New excavations show far more extensive damage than that...

MacRanger (who is-Former Career Military (logistics, intelligence) reports: Early today I watched the 'Spector House' Able Danger hearings on CSPAN. I watched closely, because at 8am, my cell was buzzing, a call from a friend. I had asked him to get some clarification on Shaffer's story that Rummy told 'em not to testify. The word I got from him was that contrary to popular knowledge, Rummy didn't pull the plug on the witnesses, it came from "Cobweb", which is just a little - OK, a lot higher up the chain. Here's what I know. Spector is being "allowed" this little...

Now, I got one more thing on this Social Security business. Apparently some people misunderstood what I said when recently discussing the program. I never said that the first recipients didn't get any benefits. What I said was the first recipients didn't pay into the system or very much. The first recipients of Social Security were pretty much near retirement age or were at retirement age when FDR introduced the program. They were the real, true beneficiaries of this program. That's when it took 16 workers to pay the taxes for those people that had not put anything in the...

Tip O'Neill once said that all politics is local. Denise Majette's defeat of Cynthia McKinney is a true case in point. While McKinney's father, state Rep. Billy McKinney (D-Atlanta) and other anti-Semites would like to blame "the J-E-W-S" for the loss, Cynthia McKinney has no one to blame but herself. No amount of creative scapegoating can erase the simple fact that the voters of the 4th Congressional District chose Majette because McKinney did not represent us effectively. McKinney chose to divide us --- not to unite us. Nor can anything change the fact that many of McKinney's traditional supporters chose...
