• Detroit Water and Sewage Department Shows Problem With Government Unions

There’s something rotten in the state of Detroit Water and Sewage Department operations. A new report by the independent firm EMA out of St. Paul, Minn., shows massive overspending and recommends that four out of every five jobs be outsourced or eliminated. Stephen Henderson, editorial page editor at the Detroit Free Press, observes that this entity has become a jobs program run for the benefit of its employees, not taxpayers and water consumers: For years, hundreds of thousands of metro Detroiters have been paying millions of dollars for what they thought was water. Instead, they were funding jobs at the...

Every problem seems to require a government solution in modern America. This is a clear departure from our nation's early history, as described by French historian and political theorist Alexis de Tocqueville. In his famous work, Democracy in America, Tocqueville marvels at the American tendency to embrace voluntary associations in order to solve our problems. "Americans of all ages, all conditions, all minds constantly unite. ...Americans use associations to give fêtes, to found seminaries, to build inns, to raise churches, to distribute books, to send missionaries to the antipodes; in this manner they create hospitals, prisons, schools. ...Everywhere that, at...

A potentially large change of events as former Virginia Governor Doug Wilder appeared at a Romney fundraiser today. This came after his criticism of Joe Biden for his "chains" comments the other day. According to Pajamas Media, Wilder (D-VA) was a surprise guest and was introduced by current Governor Bob McDonnell at the fundraiser in Richmond, VA. Wilder had said that slavery was not something for Biden to joke about:

Twelve years ago Eric Holder enabled the pardon of Marc Rich, the biggest tax thief in history, at Israel's request, instead of Jonathan Pollard, the Israeli spy now in his 27th year in prison. Now Israel is pushing for Pollard. It's again Holder's turn to call the shot. Don't think Pollard will get thumbs up from Holder as Rich did. Holder only does favors for four groups now as I explain below in my blog entry. (Only partly tongue in cheek.) Then there’s Eric (“the Unconscionable”) Holder, the guy who’s supposed to make the call. To get Holder to recommend...

When Barack Obama made his since-gone-viral “you didn’t build that” speech (Twitter #YDBT) he turned over a very telling card in a socialist hand that he’s been building since his 2008 campaign. Now that DC Hold’em 2012 is in full play, the cards are taking shape for everyone to see. As you might recall during the 2008 campaign, Obama told Ohio resident “Joe the Plumber” that we needed to “spread the wealth.” There were plenty of savvy political players who believed that he had just tipped his hand, yet the suckers remained at the table and checked their bets. When we fail to examine “facts” as they are presented, we become the audience in a farce is played-out before our eyes. An example of facts-as-farce is happening now. Harry Reid accuses Romney of going ten years without paying taxes. This fact is actually true because during the first ten years of Romney's life he did not pay taxes and lived with his parents. I think this is a great question! Just why don't the conservatives buyout some of the major networks and then eliminate anyone (which is everyone) that doesn't show a bi-partisan approach when dealing with politics? There should be no defending when a question is asked. There should be no attacking when a question is asked. A journalist is there to present you with the opinion of the person they are interviewing, not the opinion of themselves. I just don't get why they are all owned and operated by liberal hacks.... According the USDA estimates, the United States will use approximately 11,885,000 tons of sugar in fiscal year 2012-2013. Yet despite this incredibly large and ever increasing use of sugar, few Americans are aware of the economic price we pay for the government’s cartel-like control of the US sugar market. With Congress expected to reconsider the 2012 Farm Bill when it returns to DC in September, it is important to understand how this control operates and the economic harm it causes to US interests. Sugar prices in the United States are kept artificially high through a 3-part system of economic controls....

On May 17, the Michigan Senate voted for a transformational fiscal reform by closing the defined-benefit school pension system to new hires starting in 2013, and instead giving these workers generous 401(k) contributions. This came as a surprise, because the only reforms on the table before the vote were useful, if comparatively minor tweaks, to the existing defined-benefit system, which creates an additional layer of long-term taxpayer liabilities every time a new school employee is hired. What changed in the hours before that vote was that Sens. Mark Jansen, R-Gaines Township, and Phil Pavlov, R-St. Clair Township, two legislators with...

Three years into their forced marriage with GM, the American taxpayers have seen the value of their investment in GM deteriorate by approximately $24 billion, largely due to continuing European losses. Exposure in Europe has contributed to crushing the value of GM's stock due to its chaotic and failing Opel unit in Germany. While government, journalists and Wall Street sympathizers have given the Obama Administration and GM leadership an almost incomprehensible pass on this value destruction and massive loss (presumably due to the macro-economic nature of the crisis), it's time to call for the accountability that this new Board was...

There is a curious incident in American literature, an incident that leaves many literate children snickering at an absurd situation. I am writing of the Bellman's bizarre odyssey, in Lewis Carroll's, “The Hunting Of The Snark”; however, this short epic poem of adventure and tragedy could be set in modern times, for it is eerily similar to our present situation. Government workers at all levels are taking a larger share of all compensation and getting paid more than in the past. Yet, an editor at a national magazine claims government is the smallest since the 1960s. "We now have our smallest government in 45 years," said Jordan Weissmann, an associate editor at The Atlantic. Weissman based his opinions on an analysis done by The Hamilton Project, a public policy offshoot of The Brookings Institution. But Weissmann’s claim is based on the number of government jobs as a percent of the total population. It deserves a closer look. James Hohman, fiscal...

Housing starts fell to 746,000 in July from a revised print of 754,000 in June. But if you look closely at the data, 1 unit detached housing starts are flat (blue) while multifamily (5+) starts continue to accelerate (gold). We see a similar picture with building permits. Gallup's latest nationwide poll reveals that just 10% of Americans actually approve of the job that the 112th Congress is doing. It turns out that around this time, Vernon Jarrett was a leader of the Chicago chapter of American Youth for Democracy – the youth wing of the Communist Party.
  • Obama Surreptitiously Implementing a Radical Plan to DESTROY American Suburbs

High fuel prices... redistributive taxes... electric cars with a 30 mi range It should come to no surprise to any casual observer of US politcs that Barack Obama and his 'progressive' ilk hate suburbanites almost as much as they do clingers, save some residual hope-n-changey soccer moms out there in the greenbelt, maybe. But if a new book by Stanley Kurtz has any truth to it, the Obama Administration abhors the actual, physical suburbs that produce these irritatingly self-confident types, too- and have already actively targeted the suburban lifestyle -glittering icon of the American standard-of-living the world over- for destruction. Typical of this despicable regime's m.o....

n 1972 Sen. Joseph Biden, the Democrat nominee for vice President, lost his wife and young daughter in a car accident. Losing your family in an auto accident is a gut wrenching tragedy, to be sure. No one underestimates that and no ever blamed Mrs. Biden for the accident. Right up there with despicable things one human can do to another, is falsely accusing the innocent of a crime. “Bearing false witness” is even in the 10 commandments, but Mr. Biden’s feigned Catholicism doesn’t let that stop him. Last night CBS Inside Edition reports, “In a striking moment in December...
  • Paul Ryan no help to Mitt Romney with Hispanics

Mitt Romney is on track to lose the Latino vote by a wider margin than any Republican presidential candidate in over a decade, and strategists in both parties say he may have made a bad situation worse with his selection of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate. What’s clear is that Romney’s lagging fortunes among Hispanics are unlikely to receive any boost from choosing a vice presidential candidate who has voted in Congress against the DREAM Act and supports overhauling entitlement programs that are extremely popular among Latino voters. The Republican ticket’s dire position among Latinos has even...

A majority of people netted in the 2005 unionization of home health care workers are relatives or friends taking care of loved ones, according to a study being used by supporters of a potential ballot proposal that could lock the scheme into the state constitution. This is significant because one of the main reasons unions use to explain their existence is the protection of workers who are members. In this case, those workers are being protected by the Service Employees International Union against the people for whom they work — mainly their own family and friends. In 2005, the SEIU...

Barack Obama AKA Barry Soetoro AKA Barry the Rat, the south side of Chicago back alley international socialist pimp, is now declaring the United States to be adjoined and a part of the one world order, one world currency, one world government. Obama has signed what can only be described as an international executive order declaring that the international socialists’ doctrine on the status of women in the world to be law that will be enforced around the world via the power and wealth of the United States. The Executive Order — Preventing and Responding to Violence Against Women and...

When Muslim terrorists broke into a Egyptian Army checkpoint, stole an armored vehicle and a truck, loaded the latter with explosives and tried to launch an attack on Israel, before being blown away by Israeli forces; there was a general agreement on who was to blame. While Morsi was somewhat more discreet, the Muslim Brotherhood announced, "this crime may well be the work of Israel’s Mossad" as part of an international conspiracy to destabilize their revolution. On the other side of the border, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh offered a more open-ended explanation. "Israel is responsible, one way or another." One...
  • General Welfare Fraud: Roberts creates a tax loophole

General Welfare Fraud: Roberts creates a tax loophole by Daniel Clark It’s fitting that the Supreme Court handed down its Obamacare ruling the same week that it threw out the “stolen valor” law against falsely claiming military decorations, because it has now enabled unconstitutional federal power grabs to go around masquerading as “General Welfare,” without any legal consequence. Chief Justice John Roberts, in his single-minded determination to save the Democrats’ health care law from its own terminal defects, ruled it constitutional by recasting the individual mandate penalty as a tax. Justice Antonin Scalia spent a considerable part of his dissent...

A.K.A. Trickle-up, or Trickle-sideways- By: Larry Walker, Jr. -“The ignorance of one voter in a democracy impairs the security of all.” ~ John F. Kennedy -"Trickle-down theory" is a pejorative term in United States politics which refers to the idea that tax breaks or other economic benefits provided by government to businesses and the wealthy will benefit poorer members of society by improving the economy as a whole [1]. In the real world, and called by its proper name, supply-side economics has never failed. In fact, in spite of the ignorance of a few, any improvement in our economy since...
  • Fast and Furious Question: Can/Will Romney-Ryan DOJ Pursue Chicago-Bound Eric Holder?

Congressman Darrell Issa and the House Oversight Committee filed the civil lawsuit yesterday against Attorney General Eric Holder in the Fast and Furious case. To be clear, there are no charges that Holder had anything to do with Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry's death, or the walking of guns across the U.S. border into Mexico. The charges are simply that Holder has ignored subpoenas and withheld Fast and Furious documents from Congress, and thus, is in Contempt of Congress. The documents are the starting point to actual prosecutions of criminal and civil liability in one of the worst acts of...

Former Congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife Huma Abedin have moved into a $3.3 MILLION apartment in New York City. How are they paying for this tony piece of real estate when Weiner still doesn't have a real job that anyone knows about - maybe some consulting and such, but that's about it. Or maybe he had a re-election war chest when he resigned? His wife's income is reportedly $155,000 annually. Let's cut to the chase - give the elephant a glance: is the Muslim Brotherhood paying for Huma Abedin's convenient access to Hillary Clinton's brain, computer and power?
