Angry house guest causes great damage STAR ISLAND, Fla., Sept. 2 (UPI) -- A house guest trashed a Florida multimillionaire developer's patio, causing $50,000 in damage -- and claiming she did it because he owes her money. Shakia Dasamon Mitchell, 26, met 50-year-old Thomas Kramer in an online chat room. Kramer told The Miami Herald he later invited Mitchell, of Dallas, to south Florida for the weekend, offering his Star Island mansion as a place to stay. Shortly after Mitchell arrived Aug. 24, she began arguing with Kramer at a nearby restaurant, saying he had promised her $10,000. Kramer claimed...

Jim Geraghty on "Voting to Kill"October 2, 2006 BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I'd like to welcome to the program Jim Geraghty from National Review Online. He has a blog called The Kerry Spot, TKS. It's just a brilliant body of work. During the campaign of 2004 it was cited often by me -- not stolen by me, but cited often by me -- on this program. Jim has a book out called Voting to Kill. It's been out since September 19th. He went out and interviewed a number of Americans about the issues on their minds as the midterm elections come...

Has YOUR Congressman signed the "Border Security FIRST" Pledge, to oppose ANY "immigration bill" that includes ANY "guest worker" or "path to citizenship" amnesty provisions? Doesn't he or she NEED to... NOW? Download the pledge: http://www.rightmarch.com/media/pledge.pdf Until the federal government is willing to enforce the immigration laws that are already on the books, Americans will be highly skeptical of any additional promises to enforce a new and deeply flawed approach -- and rightly so. If recent history is an accurate guide, so-called "guest worker" proposals will only encourage new tidal waves of illegal aliens -- and make America's uncontrolled and...

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush on Wednesday vowed to keep working for immigration legislation including a guest worker program, as Republicans held dueling hearings to build support for rival bills. Pennsylvania Sen. Arlen Specter assembled employers and sympathetic politicians to testify in Philadelphia about the country's dependence on the estimated 11 to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States. Meanwhile, House Republican leaders convened a public hearing at a Border Patrol station in San Diego to highlight the need for stricter enforcement along the U.S. border with Mexico to prevent illegal immigrants entering the country. Bush took...

Dear (Technoman) : Thank you for contacting me to share your views on immigration. This is an issue with strong feelings on both sides. I want you to know that I do not support illegal immigration, that I believe all persons should respect and honor our laws for admission to our country and I am grateful for the US Border Patrol and National Guard who regulate our borders to discourage lawbreakers. However, the fact is that 12 million undocumented immigrants reside in the United States . This issue will not go away. We cannot turn our backs on the matter...

FORT CAMPBELL, Ky. (June 8, 2006) -- The Fort Campbell, Ky., Fisher House opened its doors June 6 to Soldiers and families in need of a place to stay during hospitalization at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital. The grand opening showcased the eight-family “comfort home” designed to give Soldiers and families a home away from home. The facility has private bedrooms and bathrooms with a shared kitchen, living and laundry room. There are now 35 Fishes Houses around the world. Each was built to honor the sacrifices of Soldiers and families for what they do for the country, said Arnold Fisher,...

Are black Americans being blackmailed to support illegal aliens' false civil rights claims? Kevin Fobbs May 22, 2006 On May 1st, hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens took to American streets to essentially blackmail America into supporting their alleged "civil rights" which sent up at least a half dozen red flags in the black community. I'm quite certain that thousands of black mothers and fathers — who, by the way, are here in this country legally — who are struggling to obtain a decent education, or affordable housing, or quality health care or a job to support their family just...

Black leaders from across the country yesterday decried a guest-worker "amnesty" plan that would legalize millions of illegal aliens and threatened to sue the U.S. government if such legislation is passed. ----------------cut--------------------------------------------- Choose Black America is the second minority-based group created by the District-based Federation for American Immigration Reform that opposes illegal entry. FAIR last month helped create "You Don't Speak for Me," a national coalition of Hispanic Americans who oppose the idea of amnesty for illegal aliens and who spoke out against immigration rallies held recently. Leah Durant, a legal analyst for FAIR and a black activist in Virginia,...

Backers of President Bush's bid to revamp immigration laws scored another small victory in the Senate yesterday, but they are increasingly concerned about a House Republican policy that could block final agreement even if a bipartisan majority is within reach. Speaker J. Dennis Hastert's insistence that major legislation reach the House floor only if it appears to be backed by a "majority of the majority" could throw a high hurdle in front of efforts to reach a House-Senate compromise on immigration later this year, lawmakers said. Hastert (R-Ill.) has invoked the policy in blocking bills that appeared likely to win...

WASHINGTON, May 22 /PRNewswire/ -- As the U.S. Senate, with the backing of President Bush, rushes to complete work on a bill that grants amnesty to tens of millions of illegal aliens and opens the doors to millions more "guest workers," a new coalition of African American leaders is calling the proposal a "disaster for all Americans that will hit black citizens the hardest." The newly formed coalition of business, academic and community leaders, known as Choose Black America, will be holding their inaugural press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, May 23, to express...

Let's face it, our elected officials don't have a clue about how to reduce illegal immigration. After President Bush proposed a guest worker program in January 2004, he repeatedly has said, illegal border crossing must stop. He now says he is looking for an overall strategy to curb illegal immigration. Congress can't agree on what to do about illegal immigration. McCain, Kolbe, Flake and Ted Kennedy, want a guest worker program and also want to allow some undocumented immigrants to become legal residents, but they insist that is not an amnesty. Senator Jon Kyl wants illegal immigrants to go home,...

BANGKOK, Thailand - Farmer Amphol Wangboon was hesitant to give up his beloved Thong Khaow for marriage until he found her the perfect match and a dowry he couldn't refuse: truckloads of fresh grass, hay, maize and $2,400. So Thong Khaow and her new mate, Thong Kham — a pair of rare dwarf Brahman cattle — were married Sunday morning in a traditional Thai ceremony featuring a banquet for more than 2,000 human guests in central Sa Kaew province. The animals wore silk outfits and jasmine garlands. Other beasts, including goats, also attended the wedding. Amphol said Thong Kham's owner,...

Gingrich Hogwash Just a bit ago I heard one of those promos they do for radio shows and the bite was of Newt on KABC Los Angeles' McIntyre in the Morning. McIntyre asks Newt about the borders and Newt's answer was to this effect: there is a need for a guest worker green card program. Such a statement is hogwash because a green card means permanent resident. Guest workers would not be guests if they have a green card. Having a green card means one is not a guest. It means one lives here -- permanently. It means the holder...

Hotel Talks Set to Resume WASHINGTON (AP) - The clock is ticking toward the presidential inauguration, and with that in mind, both sides in the hotel workers contract dispute go back to the bargaining table Thursday. About 3,500 workers at 14 upscale D.C. hotels have been working without a contract since Sept. 15. The bellmen, housekeepers, cooks and others have voted to authorize a strike against the Hotel Association of Washington, D.C. That group represents properties including the Washington Hilton and the Marriott Wardman Park - both of which host inaugural balls later this month. It's been almost a month...

The Reynolds story... November 24, 2004 BY MICHAEL SNEED SUN-TIMES COLUMNIST Former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds was reportedly a personal guest of former President Bill Clinton at the dedication of his library in Little Rock, Ark., last week. *Background: During his final hours in office, Clinton commuted the jail sentence of Reynolds, who served 2-1/2 years in federal prison on charges of corruption and having sex with an underage girl. Reynolds petitioned for clemency so he could be reunited with his children, who he felt needed him desperately. Clinton concurred. *Foreground: Reynolds was accompanied by his son and namesake, 11-year...

The chairman of a House International Relations subcommittee yesterday urged the Bush administration to drop its proposed temporary guest-worker program and not "reward Mexican nationals living and working illegally in the United States" with legal status. "It is our hope that in future discussions with the Mexican government, you will encourage Mexico to do its part to address illegal immigration rather than encourage their citizens to illegally enter the U.S.," said Rep. Elton Gallegly, California Republican, who heads the subcommittee on terrorism, nonproliferation and human rights, in letters to Secretary of State Colin L. Powell and Homeland Security Secretary Tom...

McCain discusses immigration PHOENIX - The federal government has failed to address illegal immigration in the Southwest and needs to wake up, Sen. John McCain told Hispanic leaders Saturday. "It is in our national interest to bring the 8 to 12 million undocumented immigrants out of the shadows and allow them an opportunity to become citizens of this great nation," McCain said at the annual conference of the National Council of La Raza. The Washington-based civil rights group and political think tank dedicates itself to promoting Hispanic issues. McCain said federal policy and border enforcement have failed to alleviate the...

Washington (AP) - The tourists who fill the indoor wave pool at the Cape Codder Resort & Spa each summer and vie for tables at the Hearth n' Kettle restaurants won't arrive for months. But Bill Catania, whose family owns the Massachusetts businesses, has already begun filling out forms to secure 90 temporary workers from Jamaica and Nepal needed to wash dishes and clean rooms once the weather warms. "There's not enough Americans to take the jobs," says Catania, whose company is based in Hyannis, Mass. "We bring them (foreign temps) in for 10 months and then we have to...

President Bush's immigration initiative has sparked a great deal of discussion across the country. Perhaps the most interesting debate centers on whether the president, in announcing the initiative, has embraced conservative principles or abandoned them. I believe a temporary worker program is consistent with conservative principles, and here's why. First, conservatives value national security, and the status quo encourages anything but national security. The presence of 8 million to 12 million illegal aliens within the confines of our borders should prompt the type of reform the president has suggested. President Bush's proposal will ensure smarter border enforcement by redirecting resources...

A new guest-worker program sponsored by U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, would allow millions of undocumented immigrants to work legally in the United States. Introduced in the U.S. Senate as the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act of 2003, it would allow seasonal workers to stay in the country for up to nine consecutive months and non-seasonal workers to stay up to a full year – not to exceed 36 months during the life of the program. The proposed law would encourage undocumented immigrants to apply for guest-worker status with their employers. In an interview this week, Cornyn said the program...

International fury forces Chirac to admonish his guest By Philip Delves Broughton in Paris (Filed: 21/02/2003) President Chirac has bowed to international criticism and promised to reprimand President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe during the Franco-African summit which opened in Paris yesterday. M Chirac has been shocked by French and international condemnation of his decision to extend a personal invitation to Mr Mugabe. It has overshadowed what was intended to be a triumphant display of French influence in Africa and its interest in the developing world. Welcome: Robert Mugabe is greeted by Jacques Chirac yesterday The president's office said he would...

Is a baby (fetus) truly an intuder in the womb or is he/she an invited guest? Hasn't the host acted to send out an invitation? Would not it be the height of irresponsibility (or worse) for a host to send out invitations, but to hope that nobody shows up ... or even worse, to determine to evict any who respond to the invitation and show up, knowing that such an eviction means certain death for your guest(s)? Place yourself as a non-Jew in Nazi occupied Europe. You know that the Jews are being hounded and herded by the Nazis, ultimately,...
