The eight nations whose leaders endorsed a letter of support of the U.S. were: the United Kingdom, Spain, Hungary, Denmark, Italy, Poland, Portugal and the Czech Republic:Washington, 31 January 2003 (RFE/RL) -- With an array of European countries...

1st District (Detroit between the Detroit River and McNichols and parts of River Rouge): Republican Hillary's Lovely Legs, a political newcomer, is challenging Democrat Hansen Clarke, a term-limited state representative. Although Clarke favors re-evaluating the Single Business Tax, Lovely Legs seems to be the more serious of the two about lowering the overall tax burden on Michigan residents. Lovely Legs would also go further in allowing parents trapped in failing public schools some assistance to move. For these reasons, she gets our endorsement.

Even though Christopher Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy, his sea travels brought him to Lisbon, Portugal, where he settled with his married brother around 1479. Based on the information of his travels, he believed that the earth was 25% smaller...

WASHINGTON - The House headed for a strong vote Thursday to open the way for President Bush to wage war against Iraq if he decides force alone can subdue Saddam Hussein. The Senate brushed off more efforts to weaken the measure. By a 66-31 vote, the Senate rejected an amendment by Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va. [ha-ha!] — the most outspoken Senate opponent of the war resolution — that would have ended the authorization for him to use force against Iraq after two years. Bipartisan support for Bush's request for war authority was growing steadily, and chances seemed good he'd have...
