When a college student was stopped and detained by the police in Maine, he was illegally forced to disarm. There's a video presentation, which goes into the various legal cases ignored by the police. This young man was targeted solely on the basis of having a concealed carry permit.

For the first time in New Jersey legal history, the Appellate Division of the Superior Court has applied the U.S. Constitution’s 2nd Amendment Right to “Keep and Bear Arms” to order the return of an individual’s seized firearms and gun license. The case was argued on appeal by the law firm of Evan F. Nappen, Attorney at Law P.C. of Eatontown, NJ. The 33 page formal brief was written by Louis P. Nappen, Esq. in which every point of argument raised on appeal was affirmed by the Court in its decision.

A new video out today put together by The Right Scoop that shows a few things. First, that the latest "Blame Bush" campaign by Obama and pals is an utter falsehood. Second, that Holder knew about the operation in 2009. All this administration knows how to do is lie it seems: [VIDEO AT SITE] or HEREBrian Terry's parents believe they are lying as well: [VIDEO AT SITE] or HEREAnd here is just one reminder on why Obama and pals started the operation in the first place: Documents obtained by CBS News show that the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and...
  • Fast and Furious, Beyond Gun Control: Obama Wants to Erase His First (and Only) Political Defeat

The root of Operation Fast and Furious is gun control. And the root of Barack Obama’s obsession with gun control is not typical left-wing politics, but the burning memory of the only political defeat in his career: his failed primary challenge against incumbent Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL) in 2000, when Obama’s hypocrisy on gun control legislation earned him the outrage and ridicule of the Chicago media, and sealed his electoral defeat. Then-state senator Obama had backed a bipartisan bill called the Safe Neighborhoods Act. It would have raised the crime of illegal transport of a firearm from a misdemeanor to...
  • Delaware Senate Puts an End to $200,000 Gun Buyback Program

The Delaware Senate recently defeated Senate Bill 204, which would have continued to authorize the state-funded gun buyback program, Opposing Views reports. The bill was initially spearheaded by Sen. Robert Marshall (Dem), who wanted to create the Community Firearm Recovery Program. The program has allocated $200,000 tax dollars to the project for the next fiscal year. This is in addition to the $100,000 that the program has already spent towards purchasing privately owned civilian firearms. Marshall hoped to extend the program, which is slated to expire July 1. Evidently, the fact that the Delaware Senate had already put aside enough...

From time to time the Libertarian News Examiner receives Editorial Ideas to write about. A recent one was "Gun Violence." "According to a National Institute of Justice survey," this Editorial Idea declared, "gun fatalities have steadily risen every year since 2002." While lots of statistics and examples were thrown around by this Editorial Idea no definition of gun violence was offered. Words like homicide, murder and attacks were used but there was no mention of people defending themselves from attempted homicide, murder or attacks. The obviously intended insinuation is that every instance of gun usage is an act of "gun...

Using the lure of $100 gift cards, the Chicago Police Department is encouraging people to get guns out of their homes and turn them in this Saturday, during the annual gun turn-in program. As WBBM Newsradio’s Mike Krauser reports, the Police Department is partnering with 20 churches.. First Deputy Supt. Alfonza Wysinger says anyone who turns in a real gun will get a $100 gift card. Replicas and BB guns are worth $10. “No questions asked,” Wysinger said. “Just show up at the church, and hand over the weapons to the CPD officer that will be there, and get your...

Gun-control advocates are noticeably silent when crime rates decline. Their multimillion-dollar lobbying efforts are designed to manufacture mass anxiety that every gun owner is a potential killer. The statistics show otherwise. Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that violent crime decreased 4 percent in 2011. The number of murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults all went down, continuing a pattern. “This is not a one-year anomaly, but a steady decline in the FBI’s violent-crime rates,” said Andrew Arulanandam, spokesman for the National Rifle Association. “It would be disingenuous for anyone to not credit increased self-defense laws to...

“Obama announced a temporary, two-year reprieve for young immigrants who came to this country before age 16, who have lived here at least five years and who have clean records,” reports. “The reprieve, which is renewable—” Wait. A renewable temporary reprieve? Anyone remember the executive order establishing the unconstitutional long gun registry for 8500 border state-dwelling gun dealers? Emergency > temporary > pilot > automatically renewed > you can’t kill it with a lawsuit. Under Emperor Obama’s unconstitutional edict, the newly reprieved illegals will not be citizens nor on a path to citizenship (nudge nudge wink wink). But will...

Why do Liberals and Progressives want you Disarmed? Following the shooting of Treyvon Martin earlier this year, liberals and progressives renewed their calls for more restrictions on firearms and repeal of Florida’s stand your ground law. Some called for the out right ban of handguns. Once again their justification is so-called public safety because they claim the police are entrusted with duty of protecting you. As I wrote in “The Police are Under No Legal Obligation to Protect You”, this assertion is patently false because courts throughout these United States have consistently held that police have no legal duty to...

The number of people permitted to carry concealed weapons in Florida is up 33 percent this year, according to the Florida Department of Agriculture. The data, calculated as of May 31, 2012, shows women being issued more permits than ever before. Every Sunday in Orlando, it’s Ladies Day at The Shooting Gallery Gun Range on West 39th Street near John Young Parkway. At the gun range, News 13 met several women who are already carrying or thinking about carrying a concealed weapon. Some women mentioned the uncertain economy as a primary factor to protect themselves with a concealed handgun. “I...

Army First Lt. Augustine Kim’s finally got the Washington Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) to return his guns after two years -- only to find them permanently damaged. The department violated its own regulations on handling firearms in evidence by engraving marks on the sides of the guns, and the city should reimburse the soldier for the loss. The Afghanistan war veteran was wrongly arrested while lawfully transporting his firearms from New Jersey to his home in South Carolina. All charges were later dismissed, but the city refused to respond to repeated requests from the national guardsman to return the $10,000...

If you've got some clothes you don't need anymore, you can give them to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. If you have an old car, you can call various organizations to take it away. And if you're in Chicago and have a gun that's burning a hole in your pocket, you can get rid of it June 23, no questions asked. The city government has a great fondness for gun turn-in events. It's done six of them in the past six years, collecting more than 23,000 weapons. This one will be held at 23 churches, and anyone handing over a...

A few months ago, the Cato Institute sponsored a policy forum or expert discussion on self-defense laws, including the controversial ‘Stand Your Ground’ law. Among those speaking at the event was Massad Ayoob, the internationally renowned firearms and self-defense instructor. Ayoob, by most accounts, is a guru in the gun community. He’s been an editor at GUNS magazine and AMERICAN HANDGUNNER since the 1970s, and has published thousands of articles in gun publications, martial arts publications and law enforcement journals. AyoobBut as far as his writing goes, Ayoob is probably best known for his seminal work, ‘In the Gravest Extreme,’...

Until a woman approaching 60 tells you she loves using beer bottles as target practice. Until an apparently demure schoolteacher tells you she takes her pistol to class. Jeff Moran of TSM WorldWide has been monitoring this situation along with several other groups including the Second Amendment Foundation and the International Association for the Protection of Civilian Arms Rights (IAPCAR). In “Dishonest Humanitarianism? The invalid assumptions behind the United Nations’ small arms control initiatives,” Moran cites numerous examples of propaganda used by the supporters of the anti-gun treaty. Moran details the specifics of the ATT, and invalidates the generalizations associated with global small...
