Russia Commits to Multi-Year Buy of 67 Mi-28 Attack Helicopters Posted 20-Jul-2006 05:52 The Mi-28A "Havoc" first appeared at the Paris Air Show in 1989, but was never produced in numbers due competition from the Ka-50 "Black Shark" and Russia's financial situation in the aftermath of communism. An improved Mi-28N (see also Rostvertol profile) with full day/night capabilities was introduced as a prototype in 1996, but the Mi-28N would wait until 2004 for the first flight by an improved second prototype, and only began flight testing with the Russian Air Force in June 2005. I saw a clip on CNN yesterday 6/22/06 while at the Doctors office showing a helicopter gun ship attacking a limo. The volume was down on the TV but I could make out that this was an attack by American forces and I think it said it was last Friday. Has anyone else seen this? If so, is there a place on the net where I can watch the entire clip? Thank you!

This is remarkable film footage. This is a night vision movie from Iraq, showing live action against Iraqi insurgents. The pictures were taken from an AC-130 Specter gunship two and a half miles from the target. The guys in the picture are setting up a roadside bomb and planning to ambush an American convoy which followed a short while after the pictures were taken. They were setting up the ambush and were pacing off the distance from the bomb to where the convoy was to pass by. Turn your sound up. The level of effort these Specter crews put forth...

Can anyone tell me why some of the cars hit had a hugh secondary explosion? Is it because a car has a full load of gas or would it be explosives. Click me to see Movie

Fallujah, Iraq - A U.S. AC-130 gunship raked Iraqi insurgents Friday night after hundreds of women and children fled the besieged city Fallujah during a U.S.-declared pause in the marine offensive. On the anniversary of the fall of captive Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's regime, Baghdad and parts of central Iraq were chaotic. At a square in the capital where Saddam's statue was toppled a year ago, soldiers took down a new icon: pictures of the radical Shiite Muslim cleric whose followers have risen up against coalition forces in the south. Gunmen running rampant on Baghdad's western edge attacked a fuel...

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Gunmen killed a U.S. civilian contractor and injured another north of Baghdad, while an Apache helicopter killed seven people suspected of preparing a rocket attack on a U.S. base near Tikrit, the military said Friday. Unrelenting violence in Iraq has pushed Washington to discuss ways of speeding up the transfer of power to an Iraqi-led government. A member of Iraq's Governing Council said Friday that the group will study Washington's proposals for a speedier transfer of power but won't necessarily agree with the details. "For our part, we have our own ideas," said Mahmoud Othman, a...

The US Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) is conducting several efforts that could improve the performance and increase the lethality of the AC-130 gunships operated by US Air Force Special Operations Command. The work could also provide these and other C-130 Hercules models with greatly expanded capabilities. The NSWCDD, which had earlier worked on integrating gun armament into the baseline AC-130 models, has conducted the Killer Hercules Demonstration Program - generally referred to as 'Killer Herc' - at the request of the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics. This involved four major...

"The remaining enemy fighters retreated to nearby caves," he said. In another incident in the southern part of Kandahar province close to the border...
