The results of a private autopsy on Michael Brown may escalate tensions in Ferguson, Missouri even further: The examiner says the unarmed teenager was shot at least six times, including twice in the head, and all the bullets came from the front, reports the New York Times. Pathologist Michael Baden, New York City's former chief medical examiner, says all the bullets were fired from at least one or two feet away, and one bullet—apparently the last one fired—hit the top of the 18-year-old's head.

WASHINGTON TWP., Pa. (EYT) - Two men are facing charges following an incident at a bar in Fryburg early Saturday morning. Clarion-based State Police say the incident happened around 12:30 a.m. at a bar along Route 208 in Fryburg when 37-year-old Shawn M. Jay (pictured right), of New Bethlehem, allegedly punched a 25-year-old Shippenville man in the face. While Jay and another man, 24-year-old Robert “Buddy” Myers (pictured left), were being escorted out of the bar, Myers allegedly struck the victim in the head with a beer bottle. Police say the victim later attempted to leave the bar and Jay...

Do you have a better source/way to do this? What is the proper procedure for completing this purchase from an on-line retailer? I would also like recommendations for handguns in...

World's Biggest Revolver Fired Successfully So this is fun. A guy in Poland built a gigantic revolver. Then he fired it. RT reports that "It took Mr (Ryszard) Tobys around 2,500 hours to construct, since most of the parts had to be built by hand." The revolver fires 5 oz. bullets and is supposedly certified by Guinness World Records. The Pentagon has not yet contacted Tobys for potential contracts. Detroit, MI --(Ammoland.com)- The state of Michigan may soon abolish handgun registrations and handgun purchase permits. Michigan House Bill 5225 (HB 5225) – the legislation which seeks to abolish the aforementioned pistol reporting requirements – has already been passed by the Michigan House of Representatives and is expected to be put up for a vote within the next few days in the Michigan Senate. At least with respect to handgun registrations, the state of Michigan is very late to the gun rights party; it is one of a small remaining number of US states that still require them: California,...

The agency recently made the switch to online applications to “provide better customer service” and “streamline the permit process,” ultimately cutting back on the public’s flow of traffic in and out of the Sheriff’s Office and increasing the system’s level of convenience for residents, according to a press release. Prior to moving the permit process online, citizens had to make multiple trips to the Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff David Carpenter told the Times-News on Thursday.

House Bill 5225 and its companion bills, legislation that would eliminate the state handgun “permit-to-purchase” and registration requirements in Michigan, have been languishing in the state Senate for months, so your state Senator and the Senate leadership need to hear from gun owners across Michigan today! Earlier this week, the Wiki Weapons Project--an initiative to create a 3-D printed handgun and distribute the digital design file for free online--ran into a stumbling block when 3-D printer provider Stratasys pulled the lease on a printer it had provided the group. Stratasys cited a clause in the lease agreement that allows the company to rescind a lease for printers believed to be used for unlawful purposes. That raises the obvious (and thorny) question: Is the Wiki Weapons Project doing anything illegal? It has oft been said, by armchair philosophers and professional politicians alike, that “hard cases make bad law”… meaning that one is better off depending on the other old saw, “it’s the exception that proves the rule.” There are few examples that prove this so clearly as the aftermath of an American massacre. We haven’t had many. For a nation of 300 million free people of every background, age and circumstance, we have relatively few problems. Compared with other civilizations in history, even other good ones, it should be awe-inspiring, how many Americans live...

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel wants lawmakers to require that all handguns in Illinois be registered with the state, or gun owners could face felony charges. A statewide gun registry is key in helping solve Chicago crimes that involve handguns from outside the city, and would also help crack down on gun trafficking, Emanuel is expected to argue Thursday. Under Emanuel's proposal, handgun owners would have to pay $65 for a registration certificate from the state, which would function much like the title to a car. Illinois law currently requires that gun owners and shooters have a firearm owners identification card,...

Although I own a couple of guns, they are mostly heirlooms or antiques, and don't get much use. I am in the market for a good all-purpose defensive handgun -- for home defense, target practice, concealed carry, and general training. I don't have a CHL at this point, but want to begin training to get one. I have had several models recommended to me -- HK USP Compact (45 or 9mm), Kimber 1911, Walther P99, Sig Sauer P229, Glock 19. I went out shopping a bit this weekend at a local dealer. I was inclined to go with the Barrett...

"Honest adults with licensed guns, go away. Lawbreakers looking for sitting ducks, step right in." Actually, the sign at the entrance to the Phoenix, Arizona restaurant simply read, "No Firearms." I returned to my car and left. A wave of constipated thinking has afflicted some Arizonans after legislators passed a law allowing licensed concealed handguns to be carried into businesses that serve alcohol as long as the licensees consume none. Proprietors have the option to post the "No Firearms" sign, and many have done so.

A New Jersey appeals court has concluded that Americans have no Second Amendment right to buy a handgun. In a case decided last week, the superior court upheld a state law saying that nobody may possess "any handgun" without obtaining law enforcement approval and permission in advance. That outcome might seem like something of a surprise, especially after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled last year in the D.C. v. Heller case that the Second Amendment guarantees "the individual right to possess and carry weapons in case of confrontation." But New Jersey Appellate Division Judge Stephen Skillman wrote on behalf of...
  • Recommendations for handgun for petite woman?

Wondering if anyone has recommendations for a handgun for a petite woman (me...5'2", 110lbs). Have used a small semi-automatic years ago, not sure of caliber. FIL worries that I might lack strength for semi-auto; I worry that loading bullets under pressure vs. loading ammo clip would waste precious time. Just curious what the ladies here are using? Going to gun range tonight and I think I will have the opportunity to handle a few different guns. Would like input to maybe weed out some choices that would be inappropriate for my size/needs. Another question: we currently have no handguns in...

A friend of mine recently forwarded me a question a friend of his had posed: "If/when our Federal Government comes to pilfer, pillage, plunder our property and destroy our lives, what good can a handgun do against an army with advanced weaponry, tanks, missiles, planes, or whatever else they might have at their disposal to achieve their nefarious goals? (I'm not being facetious: I accept the possibility that what happened in Germany, or similar, could happen here; I'm just not sure that the potential good from an armed citizenry in such a situation outweighs the day-to-day problems caused by masses...
