The Obama administration’s decision last week to close nearly two dozen diplomatic missions and issue a worldwide travel alert resulted from intercepted electronic communications in which the head of Al-Qaeda in Pakistan ordered the leader of its affiliate in Yemen to carry out an attack as early as this past Sunday, American officials told the New York Times on Monday. According to the newspaper, the intercepted conversations last week between Ayman al-Zawahiri, who succeeded Osama bin Laden as the head of the global terrorist group, and Nasser al-Wuhayshi, the head of the Yemen-based Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, revealed one...

PHOENIX -- District 4 Phoenix City Council candidate Austin Head is making a lot of headway thanks to his controversial campaign signs which state, "I heart Head." News/Talk 92.3 KTAR's Rob & Karie spoke with Head about the double entendre on his posters. Head said that while some find the sign controversial, it is not new to him because he has used it to promote events for the past 10 years in Phoenix and New York. Head and his supports have noticed that the signs are getting people interested in the campaign. "I've had numerous emails of people wanting me...

BERLIN (AP) — German doctors say a man spent 15 years with a pencil in his head following a childhood accident. Aachen University Hospital says the 24-year-old man from Afghanistan sought help in 2011 after suffering for years from headaches, constant colds and worsening vision in one eye. A scan showed that a 10-centimeter (4-inch) pencil was lodged from his sinus to his pharynx and had injured his right eye socket.

    B. Todd Jones, the Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Cathy Lanier, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., are being challenged on selective enforcement of the District’s ban on so-called “large capacity ammunition feeding devices” for semi-automatic firearms. This column will serve as a follow-up to an earlier request asking who authorized violation of the ban, after NBC’s David Gregory produced a magazine during his Dec. 23 “Meet the Press” interview with National Rifle Association head Wayne LaPierre. That request was documented by Gun Rights Examiner and sent to the respective...

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was lucky that, being the top U.S. diplomat, her medical team had thought to do a follow-up MRI after her concussion last month, medical experts told ABC News on Tuesday. The doctors said that Clinton's latest health update -- cerebral venous thrombosis -- is a rare and potentially "life-threatening" condition, but one from which the globe-trotting secretary of state is likely to recover from. In an update from her doctors, Clinton's brain scans revealed a clot had formed in the right transverse venous sinus, and she was being successfully treated with anticoagulants. "She is...

A woman is accused of using God's word as a weapon against her pastor in their Mid-South church. A 63-year-old church member used a Bible to hit the pastor in the head after he told her and other members to leave or he would call the Sheriff. "He's got the demon in him," Ina Garrett said. Ina Garrett, a life-long member of Mount Zion Baptist Church in Selmer, decided to knock that demon out of pastor Leon Taylor. "One of the older church members came up and struck the pastor with a Bible," McNairy County Sheriff Guy Buck said. "I...

How can we explain “acquired savants” — people with extraordinary talent who’ve miraculously developed artistic, musical, or mathematical abilities as a result of a brain injury, or temporarily from a transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) session — since they weren’t born with the talent and didn’t learn it later? For example, how is it that somebody like Derek Amato (video below), who’d never demonstrated any musical talent before hitting his head at the bottom of a pool, could suddenly handle jazz and classical pieces of astounding complexity without training? Darold A. Treffert, M.D., Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the University of...
  • Photo taken after Trayvon Martin shooting shows bloody George Zimmerman [LIVE THREAD]

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — WFTV just learned Friday morning about a picture of gunman George Zimmerman, taken just three minutes after the shooting that left 17-year-old Trayvon Martin dead. The picture reportedly shows cuts on the back of Zimmerman's head, with blood trickling down. Zimmerman, who shot and killed 17-year-old Martin on February 26 in a gated Sanford community, claimed he killed Martin in self-defense. Zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder for the shooting death of Martin. The picture would seem to back up Zimmerman's claim that Martin slammed his head against the sidewalk. That picture could be part of...

ABC News doctors Zimmerman video to peddle false story in Trayvon Martin case Written By: Bob - Mar• 29•12 he Daily Caller has investigated the ABC News claim that police closed circuit television of George Zimmerman being brought to the Sanford, FL police station shows no sign of injury, in what appears to be an intentional effort by the network to cast doubt on Zimmerman’s accounting of events. Zimmerman claims he was forced to shoot high school football player Trayvon Martin after Martin knocked him down and began slamming his head into the ground. ABC News blatantly lied about what...

Los Angeles police completed their biggest search in recent memory Friday, with 120 investigators scouring seven acres in the Hollywood hills looking for additional body parts of a man whose severed head, hands and feets were discovered earlier this week, authorities said. But the search, which began Tuesday, didn't find additional limbs or a torso, and detectives are continuing their investigation, police said Friday. "We have no updates of new body parts," said Cleon Joseph, a police spokesman. Upon concluding the hillside search, police Friday reopened Bronson Canyon Park beneath the Hollywood sign and urged hikers and other recreational visitors...

"And friends of the Palestinians do them no favors by ignoring this truth, just as friends of Israel must recognize the need to pursue a two state solution with a secure Israel next to an independent Palestine," President Obama said at the UN. "That is the truth. Each side has legitimate aspirations – and that is what makes peace so hard. And the deadlock will only be broken when each side learns to stand in each other’s shoes. Each side can see the world through the other's eyes. That’s what we should be encouraging."

Harry Alford is the president and CEO of the National Black Chamber of Commerce. And boy is he entertaining. He’s also not a fan of many of the business positions Democrats have taken. You might remember him for his fiery exchange with call-me-Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) in 2009, when he accused the senator of infusing race into a congressional hearing: Today he joined Laura Ingraham on her radio show to talk about Obama’s business policies. He started with this: “Obama wanted the National Black Chamber to dance to his music and have blind allegiance to his crazy programs and agenda,...
