Watch Ted Cruz make DOJ nominee answer for targeting firearms companies with 'Operation Choke Point' Sen. Ted Cruz blasted one nominee for associate attorney general Wednesday for his participation in a Department of Justice scheme called "Operation Choke Point," a program that resulted in alleged attempts to run businesses the Obama administration deems undesirable into failure. The Texas Republican firebrand hammered the nominee, Stuart Delery, at Wednesday's Senate Judiciary Committee hearing for his approval of the initiative in which DOJ lawyers intimidated banks into cutting off financial services to businesses such as gun manufacturers and dealers. The GOP presidential hopeful noted that...

The DOJ has acted as a partisan arm of the White House Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) questioned the Hon. Stuart Delery, nominee for U.S. Associate Attorney General. The Media narrative coming out from the Benghazi hearings was and still is that Hillary performed well. In other words, ignore the facts that the public learned Thursday about the cover up of a terror attack 50 days before an election and focus on Hillary's performance. Matt Taibbi went so far as crediting Hillary for not running on stage and hitting Trey Gowdy over the head. This to me is odd for many reasons: 1) Thousands of people have appeared in front of grilling investigative committees and almost all of them - especially current or former senior government officials -...

Since the drug is already approved by the Food and Drug Administration, it could potentially be available sooner and cost less. Its a lot more economical to repurpose drugs than to take a new drug and make it from scratch, says David E. • A question for you shooters re hearing protection. (Vanity)

I often see experienced shooters wearing only ear plugs for hearing protection. I usually double up with plugs and muffs, but when I'm shooting in extreme cold, sometimes it's uncomfortable (not being able to wear the type of head covering I might normally wear). I'm headed to the range next week to break-in a couple of rifles, a CMP Garand w/CMP ammo and an unfired M1A w/factory ammo. The charts usually circulated say 140 dB at an unprotected ear causes instant damage. The M1A is a 308 at 156.2 dB and the Garand is 30-06 at 158.5 dB. My plugs...

Multiple individual plans available on the D.C. health insurance exchange specifically cover elective abortion but not hearing aids, routine foot-care, and routine eye-care. One such plan, Healthy Blue PPO $1500 (you can check it out on the DC Healthlink website here), has a summary on the D.C. exchanges website titled Excluded Services & Other Covered Services. It says enrollees can receive coverage for abortions performed for a non-medical reasons, but not for a number of other services that could seem medically necessary. The plan also excludes coverage for some other procedures, including cosmetic surgery, bariatric surgery, and infertility treatment. Per...

Shell answer questions before the House Energy & Commerce Committee. This is the committees second hearing related to the website problems. Last week, four government contractors hired to help build the site testified. Tuesday, Marilyn Tavener, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Administrator, appeared before the Ways & Means Committee. CMS is responsible for setting up the federal marketplace for insurance exchanges and the Medicaid expansion. Rep. Fred Upton chairs the committee and Rep. Henry Waxman serves as Ranking...
  • Rangel falsely claims no Republicans voted for Social Security, sidetracks ObamaCare hearing

Lawmakers had to pause for a fact check about a 78-year-old law during a hearing that was supposed to be about ObamaCare, after Rep. Charles Rangel made the -- inaccurate -- claim that no Republicans supported the Social Security Act. The New York Democrat made the assertion Tuesday while railing against Republicans for opposing the health care law. It was during a House hearing where Marilyn Tavenner, head of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, was testifying. "It should give you some small comfort to know that, historically, the Republican Party always fought vigorously against these types of programs,"...

During the second portion of a House Oversight and Government Reform hearing about Benghazi Thursday on Capitol Hill, the majority of Democrats on the Committee left the room and refused to listen to the testimony of Patricia Smith and Charles Woods. Ms. Smith is the mother of Sean Smith, an information management officer killed in the 9/11 Benghazi attack. Charles Woods is the father of Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods, who was also killed.
