  • Herman Cain’s Campaign Suspended

By suspending his campaign instead of quitting his campaign, Herman can still get federal matching funds in 2012. But the campaign is over. Even had it continued, it was over. I had thought and expected that Cain would continue until Iowa. He had enough money. Dropping out after losing in Iowa would have distracted from the present issues. Dropping out now will be viewed by a great many as an admission against interests that Herman Cain did have a 13 year affair.

Anyone who saw the debate on Saturday night and observed Herman Cain’s performance clearly saw a man who was terrified of the questions he was being asked and was hoping to be noticed as little as possible. Apparently, there was a good reason for that. Herman Cain apparently sat down with the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel editorial board to talk foreign policy and, well… this happened. Now, normally I would include a description of what happened in this video but this is one of those videos you really do have to see to believe. You cannot grasp how utterly clueless Cain is...

The lynching of Herman Cain has reached heights comparable with the oak tree that liberals wish they could hang minority conservatives from. In the great tradition of Clarence Thomas and Sarah Palin, the left has decided to add Herman Cain to the list of those who need to be set on fire and hung from a tree simply for existing and breathing while being a minority conservative. Anonymous women have accused Herman Cain of bad behavior of an inappropriate sexual nature. Now a woman has finally decided to come forward. To make the situation even more highly charged and explosive,...

I am an American Black Conservative (ABC). Since April 15, 2009 I have spoken at over 30 citizens’ movement events, which have included Tea Party rallies, prosperity conferences and other conservative gatherings. At those events I have yet to find the racists and extremists that the liberals continue to say exist. In fact, I and my message of “Take Back Our Government” have been enthusiastically received. Not to be boastful, but to illustrate my point, last Saturday at the Virginia Tea Party convention of over 2,300 attendees, I received no less than five standing ovations during my 20-minute keynote address....

When sexual harassment complaints against Herman Cain unfolded at the National Restaurant Association in the late 1990s, the issue was all too familiarfor the trade association. In the wake of the televised 1991 Clarence Thomas Supreme Court confirmation hearings — and the widely publicized sexual harassment charges leveled against him by Anita Hill — American businesses had been hit by a wave of sexual harassment cases. And the restaurant industry, in particular, was hit especially hard. Industry officials saw it coming — none other than Cain himself warned as long ago as 1991 that changes in federal law resulting from...

Maybe we were reading these sexual harassment allegations wrong. They don’t seem to have hurt Cain at all. If anything, they’ve made him stronger. A Washington Post-ABC Poll found him still nearly tied with Romney in the polls — even after the allegations made news! The Monday after they surfaced was a banner day for fundraising Cain. More than a million dollars of donations reportedly poured in. Maybe the Rick Perry staffer who so cleverly traveled back to the past to seed these allegations more than a decade ago should have thought harder. So far, they seem to be having...

No one who followed politics 20 years ago will forget the night when Clarence Thomas sent an electric charge through a Senate hearing room. As liberal Democrats pushed the unproven sexual harassment charges of Anita Hill, in an attempt to destroy Thomas's chance to serve on the Supreme Court, Thomas called them out for conducting a national disgrace. "This is a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks who in any way deign to think for themselves." This line packed a wallop because Hill's charges were about as proven as the old charges of perverted indecency against white women that were concocted...

U.S. Rep. Steve King gave his opinion of news that GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain was previously accused of sexual harassment. Allegations were made by two women and stem back to the the time when Cain was served...

The harassment scandal highlights Cain's rift with Iowa's most dangerous conservative talker. Herman Cain has messed with the wrong Iowan. One strand of the multifaceted scandal unfolding around the Republican presidential candidate this week has been the charge that Cain treated female staffers of Des Moines-based radio host Steve Deace in a manner Deace found "awkward and inappropriate." BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: "BREAKING: PJM Sources Report Details of Alleged Cain Incident." Stick with me on this. "Adding to the ongoing Herman Cain sexual harassment controversy, two sources have now confirmed to PJ Media that a female employee of the National Restaurant Association told associates she had been brought by Mr. Cain to his Crystal City, Virginia residence where she alleged 'he had taken advantage of me.' Both sources claim to be politically conservative. One source, a male, told PJ Media: 'Herman took advantage of seniority and power with a young woman. It was an abuse of power.' Implying that...

Washington was all a-Twitter (literally) Monday over Politico's story about the sexual harassment charges against Herman Cain -- and about Cain's serial self-contradictions. Faithful Fox News viewers saw him in the afternoon saying he didn't know the terms of a settlement reached with the complainants and then saw him tell Greta Van Susteren in the 10 p.m. hour that he did. The Politico story, quoting no named sources, described Cain's alleged misconduct as "conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature" and "physical gestures that were not overtly sexual." That sounds bad but not horrible....

When Herman Cain accused Texas Gov. Rick Perry of leaking damaging information about his rival last night, there was little love lost. Sources say there is no personal animosity between the two candidates. But Cain, in deflecting attention away from himself in this controversy, seized on a familiar target. Perry’s campaign has adamantly denied any involvement in a Politico story revealing sexual harassment allegations against Cain from his time at the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s. Not only did Cain suggest that Perry might be behind the leak — he stated it as a fact, despite a lack of...

(Reuters) - A woman who accused Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain of sexual harassment on Thursday offered a statement telling her side of the story, in a move that could further undermine his 2012 campaign. Cain has been accused by at least three women of sexual harassment when he was head of the National Restaurant Association in the mid-1990s. The issue is dominating the race to decide a Republican challenger to face Democratic President Barack Obama in the November 2012 election. One of the women said earlier this week that she wanted to talk publicly about accusations that Cain had sexually...

With the recent struggles of Herman Cain and Rick Perry, we may be in for yet another round of rumors about Republican candidates entering the presidential race late. There was one such rumor on Wednesday from Lee Davis, a radio host in Birmingham, Ala., who cited unnamed sources close to Sarah Palin as saying that Ms. Palin was reconsidering her decision not to seek the nomination. (Audio of the segment in which Mr. Davis reported this information can be found here.) The probability that these rumors will come to fruition is very low. Nevertheless, it’s worth at least considering the...

Seeking to woo skeptical conservative bloggers during a March 2011 conference call, Herman Cain pushed back hard against the notion that opposition research might turn up skeletons in his closet. Asked directly about negative information that might arise from opposition research, Cain never revealed the sexual harassment allegations he had known about for more than a decade, instead joking about his golf game — and aggressively insisting there was nothing to worry about. “I don’t have any of those kind of skeletons in my closet,” he assured the conservative bloggers. “And what I have told people [is] if they come...

Outsider Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is spending a tumultuous week in Washington courting the GOP establishment. And, at least for now, it seems that the establishment likes him — despite allegations of sexual harassment that continue to surface. Following a series of private meetings with the Georgia businessman early in the week, Republican Members pronounced themselves impressed with Cain and unconcerned about the sexual harassment claims that have dogged the White House hopeful since Politico reported them Sunday. Cain spoke today with Members in several private settings as he sought to boost support for his campaign, sell his controversial...

Last Thursday, disabled Army combat veteran Mike Fitzgerald walked into Herman Cain's Iowa campaign headquarters in Urbandale and told the first person who greeted him to put him to work. A transplant from New Orleans who fled to Iowa after Hurricane Katrina struck, Fitzgerald has never before been involved in a campaign. But just an hour after he started phone-banking for Cain, he was already projecting the poise of an old pro. “I’m supposed to read a script on the screen, but I don’t do that,” Fitzgerald said, explaining that he prefers to speak off-the-cuff about why he believes Cain...

That was fast: As part of its seemingly ever-evolving media strategy, Herman Cain’s campaign appears to have pulled the plug on blaming Rick Perry for the swirl of accusations surrounding the candidate. “We want to move on with the campaign. Let’s get over these things that don’t mean anything to the American public,” Mark Block, Cain's campaign manager, told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on Thursday afternoon. But that’s not about to become any easier. Politico reported Thursday that one of the women who accused Cain of sexual harassment during his time at the National Restaurant Assn. received a payout of...
