  • Rep. Karl Oliver: Those removing Confederate monuments ‘should be lynched’

A state representative from Winona who urged in a weekend Facebook post that those who support the removal of Confederate monuments be lynched has apologized. Rep. Karl Oliver, R-Winona, wrote: “The destruction of these monuments, erected in the loving memory of our family and fellow Southern Americans, is both heinous and horrific. If the, and I use this term extremely loosely, “leadership” of Louisiana wishes to, in a Nazi-ish fashion, burn books or destroy historical monuments of OUR HISTORY, they should be LYNCHED! Let it be known, I will do all in my power to prevent this from happening in...
  • Liberal protesters must raise the bar if they expect to have any impact

On a rainy Tuesday afternoon last week, the Heritage Foundation was mobbed by more than 200 liberal protestors. They stormed our lobby, chanting and banging on bucket drums, and gathered outside, holding signs and a bullhorn. They were well-organized, with facilitators in orange vests directing people where to stand, and a media team, allegedly prepared to talk to any press (though, notably, they refused to talk to our own Daily Signal). What were they protesting? It soon became clear that many of them didn’t actually know – they’d been bussed in, told they were going to “an undisclosed location.”

Jim DeMint is being forced out as the leader of the conservative Heritage Foundation think tank amid internal tensions at the organization over its direction, several sources have confirmed to Fox News. The former South Carolina Republican senator's imminent departure was first reported late last week and has since sparked widespread speculation about what led to the separation.
  • Will Steve Bannon take over Heritage after Jim DeMint leaves? Mike Needham won't say

Will blistering populist Steve Bannon replace fiery conservative Sen. Jim DeMint as the next president of the Heritage Foundation? Heritage Action CEO Michael Needham won't say. Asked by Chris Wallace whether Heritage would be Bannon's "safety net as he's forced out of the White House," Needham demurred on "Fox News Sunday." "I can tell you," Needham replied, "there's a lot of speculation in the room and in the media that never misses a chance to divide and attack conservatives." With that non-answer, speculation over the fate of Heritage Foundation will no doubt reach a new fever pitch. News of DeMint's...

Politico is reporting that several sources on the board of the Heritage Foundation are saying there is an organized effort to dump the organization's president, Jim DeMint.  DeMint, who has a close relationship with the Trump White House, is accused of being "too political" and corrupting the foundation's historic mission of research and policy formulation. There's also a sense that he's made the institution too much about himself. "He has been a congressman and senator. They are solo performers. When you are in the Senate, life is all about the senators," said one board member, who asked for anonymity to...

South Carolina's Jim DeMint could soon be out of a job that helped elect a president, according to a report published Friday in Politico. The former South Carolina senator and Tea Party leader cut his term short in 2012 to become president of The Heritage Foundation. The Heritage Foundation is a conservative D.C. think tank that got in on the ground floor of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. It has been attributed to significantly helping Trump win the 2016 presidential election....

Liberal protesters stormed the Washington, D.C., headquarters of the conservative Heritage Foundation on Tuesday — but the demonstration backfired when Heritage later took to Twitter using the event to promote one of its policy papers. Just before noon, around 200 protesters marched up to and inside the conservative organization’s Capitol Hill offices. Within about 20 minutes, however, they were gone, the Washington Examiner reported. The protesters voiced their opposition to President Donald Trump’s proposed budget blueprint. Congress has not yet voted on a 2018 fiscal year budget but is expected to do so by Friday night to keep the federal...

Instead of trying to help reach consensus with traditional protest, they tried intimidating the opposition ... The mob that just muscled their way into the lobby of the Heritage Foundation must have missed Obama's lecture. When those partisans pushed past security onto private property, they signaled that the liberal resistance has given up on unity. Quite simply, division is the new goal. More than a tantrum, this is a significant shift in the direction of the reiterating protests that have continued non-stop since Trump took office ... Around 200 protestors flooded into Heritage's Capitol Hill headquarters an hour before noon...

There is a vast span of human existence of which little is known. Archeological ruins from the beginnings of civilization have been unearthed, and there have been occasional discoveries of a more prehistoric nature, but not much else. The impermanency of our physical existence is responsible for this void; our flesh and body fluids rapidly decompose after death. Unless preserved by extraordinary means, even skeletal remains eventually crumble and disappear. Early peoples did not practice ceremonial burial. Left to the elements, bodies soon completely decomposed: "Dust to dust" was not a mere poetic metaphor. It was a recorded observation of...
  • The Silencing of God (Session 1) [Lessons re: America’s intimate connection to Christianity]

Session #1 of "The Silencing of God" seminar introduces the sinister attempt to expunge manifestations of God, Christ, and the Bible from American life--in direct and stark contradiction to the original intentions of the Founders and Framers. The United States of America is undergoing swift transition as the forces of “political correctness” wage a vociferous culture war. Activist judges, secularist educators, morally bankrupt entertainers, and liberal politicians have teamed up to sell a sanitized version of America’s past. Their objective? To expunge every manifestation of God, Christ, and the Bible from American life. What has been the result of their...

Hillary Clinton lobbed the video equivalent of a Nazi buzz bomb at Donald Trump on Saturday by making his German heritage a campaign issue. The 37-second clip decrying Trump’s attacks on federal Judge Gonzalo Curiel’s Mexican heritage was subtle — but fans and foes got the message: Clinton thinks Trump, like the Nazis, hates people based on their race. “His heritage is German. Heil Trump!” tweeted Trump foe Michael Gilmor‏.

CS Lewis was baptised at St Mark's Church off the Holywood Road in east Belfast and attended it as a child. The old rectory beside it would also have been familiar territory to the author as it was once home to his grandfather, the Rev Thomas Hamilton, who was the first rector at St Mark's. A distinctive lion's head-shaped door knob on the rectory is even believed to have inspired the key character of Aslan ...

“Then arose that do or die expression, that maniacal maelstrom of sound; that penetrating, rasping, shrieking, blood curdling noise that could be heard for miles and whose volume reached the heavens such an expression as never yet came from the throats of sane men, but from men whom the seething blast of an imaginary hell would not check while the sound lasted.” ~ Confederate Colonel Keller Anderson of Kentucky's Orphan Brigade There are few aspects of the Civil War which have been engrained in American culture and remembrance more than the Confederate soldiers’ Rebel Yell . . ."

A stemwinder from last night’s debate in the South Carolina house, in case you missed it elsewhere. Jenny Horne’s position prevailed, of course; Nikki Haley’s set to sign the bill removing the flag in a formal ceremony sometime this hour. But the flag drama’s not done yet, my friends. Thanks to the congressional GOP, it’s just getting warmed up: Republican leaders on Thursday abruptly yanked an environmental spending bill from the House floor before a final vote amid a storm of protest over an amendment that would have allowed Confederate flags at federal cemeteries…Only the day before, Republicans had assented...

Oh. Well, my mistake then. Yesterday I thought he was saying something racist. What did this guy think his critics were accusing him of, if this is his “clarification”? A few fans have written wondering whether I intended to utter a racist remark by referring to Justice Thomas as a “clown in blackface.”“Blackface” is a lesser known theatrical term for a white actor who blackens his face to play a black buffoon. In traditional theater lingo, and in my view and intent, that is not racist. It is instead part of a racist history in this country.I feel Justice Thomas...

On the same day that Bobby Jindal announced he's running for president, The Washington Post published an article implicitly questioning why the Louisiana governor indentifies more as an American than an Indian American. Jindal's parents were born and raised in India before immigrating to the United States. "Yet many see him as a man who has spent a lifetime distancing himself from his Indian roots," Annie Gowen and Tyler Bridges reported from Khanpur, India. The article was reminiscent of Mark Halperin's interview of presidential candidate Ted Cruz in May. Halperin, of Bloomberg Politics, asked Cruz a series of questions seeking...
