  • The United States and the U.S. Constitution

    09/25/2012 2:18:22 PM PDT · by Brett L. Baker · 9 replies
The Constitution of the United States is much more than just a piece of paper; it is a document written by God fearing men who believed in Liberty and Justice for all who are citizens of this great nation and their Posterity. While the U.S. Constitution is a guide for ourselves and for those who represent us, the U.S. Constitution is much more; it is the “law of the land” and should be viewed as such, as well as considered whenever any of the three branches of government, i.e., Legislative, Executive, or Judicial, enact new laws or perform the duties...

On a beautiful September Sunday afternoon, not far from the scene of the infamous Islamic jihad attack in lower Manhattan, Democrat New York State Senator Tony Avello came face-to-face with Muslim hatred for America and he did something that few people have the courage to do. He got up from his seat as a VIP Marshall of the 27th annual New York Muslim Parade and stormed off the stage in disgust! Over one thousand Muslims in the audience and the large group of Muslim community leaders were shocked that the Senator would walk off the stage, even before it was...

Dangerous disconnects and hatred are endemic. When in college, I majored in economics and enrolled in the honors program. That required that I write a paper on an aspect of economics. My field was micro-economics, how business works, and I elected to write my paper about the automotive replacement parts industry. My faculty adviser was Arthur Okun, then also a senior economist with President Kennedy's Council of Economic advisers. He later served as the chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers between 1968 and 1969. While serving as one of President Kennedy's economic advisers, he developed "Okun's Law," to the effect...

(Associated Posers) – BALTIMORE, MD – As the global debate on free speech and condemnations from world leaders of the low-budget “Innocence of Muslims” trailer, the film has become a surprise underground cult hit across the United States. Several leading churches say they are considering putting on a Muslim Pageant to show how the false faith of Islam arose from the lust of one warlord. Even so, when youths hear that something is being condemned by government they often get interested in that thing. This has become true with the badly produced internet video. All over the web groups of...

Nobody knows how Barack Obama managed to pay for the higher education he received. Obama's decision to keep his education records a secret is considered unworthy of attention by the media. [A] syndicated column written by a Chicago Tribune columnist in 1979 provides a fascinating light on the cabal that seems to have formed around Obama. The kicker is that the column was written by Vernon Jarrett, longtime influential Chicago black leftist, close friend of Frank Marshall Davis, and father-in-law of Valerie Jarrett, the closest aide to President Obama, and a major figure in his rise within the Chicago political...
  • Accidental firearm deaths for those under age 15 rise back up in 2010

    09/24/2012 8:06:51 AM PDT · by marktwain · 15 replies ^ | 23 September, 2012 | John Lott
CDC data show number of accidental firearm deaths for children under age 15 has gone back up to 62, a number that it was at in 2008. The 48 accidental deaths in 2009 was unusually low. A similar pattern also held for total accidental gun deaths for all ages: 2008, 592; 2009, 554; and 2010, 606. However, over the longer term, the pattern for accidental gun deaths is similar to other accidental deaths in that is as long as we have data you see a gradual decline, though in recent years the decline in accidental firearm deaths has slowed.

Americans are often complacent over the many many lives given for our freedom. There are so many forgotten or untold stories of brave men who have made the ultimate sacrifice for liberty. This weekend we attended the annual Texas Heroes Day in LaGrange, Texas. There is a park high on a hillside, with a beautiful towering monument commemorating heroes that even most Texans have long forgotten. Here is Off Grid Blogger’s short version of the story. (Off Grid Blogger is choking up a bit as he writes this incredible story.) In 1842, years after the 1836 Battle of San Jacinto...

Or something. This Howard Stern show features interviews with some ordinary folk who are likely to vote their gut feelings this year, having nothing else to help them to decide. Maybe they are right and the pro-life "Obama-Ryan" ticket will eventually result in the prohibition of abortion and the capture of Osama bin-Laden.[youtube] Link to YouTubeThree cheers for the Obama-Ryan campaign! It will certainly defeat this year's challenge by the McCain-Palin campaign, although the latter may get between twenty and forty percent of the votes. Here is the 2016 Obama's America video. I watch few motion pictures but had never...

The Time Abraham Lincoln and a Political Rival Almost Dueled on an Island Exactly 170 years ago today, the Mississippi River levee in Alton, Illinois, was crammed full of spectators awaiting the results of a highly anticipated duel — a smackdown between Abraham Lincoln and political rival James Shields. Only one man could emerge victorious. Onlookers held their breath in suspense as they spotted a boat approaching with a blood-soaked body draped over the bow. It had all started where so many skirmishes do: the Illinois state legislature. Though at the time Lincoln was a Whig and Shields was a...

Wherever you see the American flag burning, you can guess that either the American Left or violent Islamists are nearby. There are thousands and thousands of anti Islamic and anti Mohammad videos and other compositions online and in books that have been easily accessible - for years in the United States and other Western countries, yet Hillary Clinton - Secretary of State, Susan Rice - Ambassador to the United Nations, and President Obama   have pleaded with the Moslem world that, "The United  States government has had nothing to do with the video." In fact, it is the has been the...

The first gathering of the Stop Islamization of Nations Congress took place on the eleventh anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in the city-and nation-targeted by pan-Islamic jihadists on that clear September day. Considering the deeply-rooted religious and ideological convictions that were to serve as the fulcrum of those massacres, it was only fitting that any discussion of Islam’s predatory relationship to the inalienable rights of Americans take place on that day and in this city. However, the scope of this discussion extended well beyond the borders of America, because the ambitions of Islamic jihad go well beyond the geography of...

Secretary Janet Napolitano told a Senate committee that the Administration is drafting an Executive Order that would grant her Department of Homeland Security “sweeping new powers over the Internet.” “As we saw this past week, irresponsible use of the Internet by anti-Islamic bigots spawned riots against US embassies throughout the Muslim world,” Napolitano explained. “The Administration needs the authority to interdict inflammatory and dangerous messages before they can cause trouble.” Napolitano told Senators that “the Executive Order is necessary because Congress has neglected its responsibility to pass appropriate enabling legislation. The President isn’t going to sit by and allow threats...

Well, once again we see multiple violent tantrums from The Religion o Permanent Offence... some things never change, do they. Once again we see Islam self-detonate -if you'll pardon the expression- and show -once again- why it's about as welcome on this planet as an asteroid... Once again, we see thousands of Islamic nutcases take time out from beating-up their wives to show their sensitive side- how? By smashing-up the towns they live in, egged-on by clerical ignoramuses who's motives are even lower than the literacy level of their followers. And once again, we in the civilized world are being urged to...

In a gaffe that some are calling “Bidenesque,” President Obama sought to divert attention from his broken promises by claiming impotence. “The most important lesson I've learned is you can't change Washington from the inside,” he told the audience at at a forum hosted by the Spanish-language TV channel Univision. “You can only change it from the outside.” A nonplussed host inquired, “If you can't change it from inside why are you running for reelection?” “As frustrating and unrewarding as being the president may be, I feel it is my duty to occupy that chair in order to prevent malevolent...

What happens to the presidential election if Israel attacks Iran, and/or if Syria boils over into war between Syria and Israel? Obama has signalled that he is at most cool to the idea of a pre-emptive strike on Iran before the election. Romney has indicated strong approval. Here's how I think it plays out ... how about you? If Israel concludes a successful strike and there is not very much immediate follow-up from Iran or surrogates, before election day, then I think it tends to have zero effect on the election outcome. If the aftermath of an Israeli strike is...

The Trip to DC Agape’, love never ending, every need and desire fulfilled. That special love God gives to us and asks us to shower on each other. I experience agape once on an Emmaus Walk, but observing it showered on my father was beyond word, but here’s a humble attempt. As many of you know, dad’s health is failing. When it became possible for him to travel to Washington DC to see the WWII memorial he had contributed to and read about, we jumped at the opportunity. Honor Flight-Bluegrass took care of the transportation, food, souvenir part of the...

Attorney General Eric Holder released a statement today on the Office of Inspector General's report on Operation Fast and Furious. He said the key conclusions were "consistent" with what he had been saying "for months now". Oh, Eric, you live in such a fantasy land if you think a report by your appointed Inspector General which was delayed for months and months is enough to get you off the hook. As Mike Vanderboegh so rightly called it, it is a whitewash. I think Katie Pavlich is probably correct that you are "spiking the football" and doing a victory dance. Kenneth...

His story was told by his wife and others at the Democratic National Convention. The media portray him as a man who rose from nothing to become president of the United States. The Washington Examiner has released a stunning analysis...

Liars I am so furious about this I can hardly write. I hope this post is not too incoherent. As anybody with a modicum of intelligence could have predicted, the Obama misadministration's story on the Bengahzi murder of Ambassador Stevens has fallen apart. As I wrote before (here and here, for example) this misadministration has been lying about what happened in Benghazi. They tried two tactics to hide the facts. First, we had the hapless State Department spokesman, Victoria Nuland, saying there would be no more comments because the smoldering Benghazi consulate was now a "crime scene" and the FBI...

Why isn't this on the news? Would they report it if he said he was a socialist? Well I guess not because even after his redistribution of wealth video surfaced yesterday, the corrupt media did not report it. We are going to have to figure out a way to make people understand the media needs to go.
