The Audacity of Hypcrisy

When Pastor Rick Warren asked Barack Obama about what he considered America’s greatest moral failure at the recent Saddleback “Civil Forum on the Presidency,” Senator Obama answered by saying, “its insufficient help to the disadvantaged.” Senator Obama then referenced the Bible and quoted Jesus’ admonition that, “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers, you do for me,” commenting that this should apply to victims of poverty, sexism and racism. I couldn’t believe my ears. I immediately thought of my sister Terri Schiavo who was the perfect example of a “disadvantaged” person in desperate need of our help. If...

Will Ted Kennedy Pay His "Fair Share?"

First of all, let me say that I do not wish Ted Kennedy dead. I am not a fan of his but no one should wish such a thing upon another, regardless of past history. That said, Mr. Kennedy's recent diagnosis of a brain tumor brings up all sorts of political questions, many of which have been discussed here. One such issue is/will be will the Kennedy family pay estate taxes on Uncle Ted's fortune when he passes on? Based on recent family history, the chances of that happening aren't good. In 1994, during Ted's Senate run against Mitt Romney,...

Schools: While Obama's children enjoy the best education money can buy, he wants to deny inner-city children the education change we can believe in — school choice. He prefers cradle-to-diploma collectivist education. When Barack Obama collected the endorsement of the American Federation of Teachers, he told the teachers that support for alternatives to the education monopoly amounted to "tired rhetoric about vouchers and school choice." He recently told an interviewer that he opposes school choice because "although it might benefit some kids at the top, what you're going to do is leave a lot of kids at the bottom." Not...

Lucas Brings Hummer to News Conference on Gas (Virginia State Senator at an Obama rally)

NORFOLK, Va (WAVY.com)--It was supposed to be a news conference by supporters for Democratic Senator Barack Obama. They wanted to blast Republican Presidential Candidate John McCain's plan to give a brief 'gas tax' holiday. When State Senator Louise Lucas showed up in a gas guzzling Hummer to blast McCain for his stand on the oil crisis, the story changed. Lucas said, "While Virginia's families are confronting the reality of gas, the oil companies continue to record record profits." That, from an elected official who showed up in a vehicle that gets some of the lowest gas mileage per gallon. HOUSE # 1: A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than...

Do as Al says, not as Al doesOn Thursday, former U. S. vice-president Al Gore delivered a major address calling on his country to abandon all fossil fuels within 10 years. By 2018, U. S. electricity and fuel should come entirely from "renewable energy and truly clean, carbon-free sources," he said. Tickets to the event encouraged attendees to "please use public transit, bicycling or other climate-friendly means" to reach the lecture hall.
Usually, celebrity magazines gush over celebrities, from what they're wearing to the stupid political causes they pimp. But I must hand it to Us Magazine. While the glossy celebrity tabloid is guilty of featuring a several-page spread in its July 28th issue, with quotes and essays from myriad celebs telling us what they do to be green, Us does devote almost a a full page at the end to slam them for their hypocrisy. I believe it's TMZ, which has no prob slamming and dissing celebrity hypocrisy, for pushing Us and other magazines to tone the drooling down a notch....

Barack Obama reiterated his belief Friday that America’s children to learn a foreign language, firing back against criticism he received from some conservative groups who suggested the Illinois senator wanted to make the United States a bilingual country. Speaking in Powder Springs, GA on Tuesday Obama told the crowd that it’s embarrassing when Europeans come to the US and they all speak English.
Did Jesse Jackson suggest Obama be lynched?

Just a general query; when Jesse Jackson said he wanted to cut Obama's nuts off, wasn't he recalling a time when black men were lynched? I remember reading history and when such terrible events happened, black men were treated in just the way Jesse suggested. So would it be fair to say Jesse Jackson has done the equivalent of hanging a noose? I can imagine what the press would be doing today if John McCain had said he wanted to cut Obama's nuts off. Any thoughts?
