A senior Iranian foreign ministry official mocked on Sunday Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's over his bomb diagram during his UN speech last week. Addressing a ceremony in Iran's southern city of Kangan on Sunday, Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular, Parliamentary and Expatriates' Affairs Hassan Qashqavi said, according to the Fars news agency, “The fake regime of Israel is mocked by everyone in the world today, although such cheap actions of the leaders of the occupying Zionist regime are nothing new.” He added that the Islamic Republic's dignity and might has angered Israeli regime officials so much that they show such...

The Gaza-based Salafist group Jaysh al-Umma accused the ruling Hamas movement on Monday of arresting and torturing six of its members, including its leader. US Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Sunday accused US President Barack Obama of deliberately creating a rift between Jerusalem and Washington, in an opinion piece he penned in the Wall Street Journal. In his article entitled "A New Course for the Middle East," Romney wrote that he believes the US Administration has failed to advance American interests in the region, citing Israel as an example of an ally that has been ignored and let down. … Romney continued: Obama "recently downgraded Israel from being our 'closest ally' in the Middle East to being only 'one of our closest allies.'...

When it comes to the film Innocence of Muslims, our government and the media uses a narrative mired in contradictions and false statements provided by the filmmaker, who himself is an untrustworthy source. If we stick to what can be proven we might obtain the possibility that terror supporters produced the film. Muhammad Al Dura and Pallywood are two cases in point showing the type of stunts used by Palestinian terrorists. snip Court documents reveal that Nakoula Bacile Nakoula, producer of the movie Innocence of Muslims, partnered in a scheme with Eiad Salameh, my first cousin. Egypt’s new leader Mohamed Morsi is proving to be a cunning communicator, at least so far as what he puts across to undiscerning Western ears. He manages to sound exceedingly moderate and reasonable, while enunciating unreasonable, indeed radical demands that must be met or else. He in effect says that “it’s my way or the highway.” Thus, while seeming to affirm his commitment to the 33-year-old peace with Israel, Morsi at the same time piles up impediments upon which he now makes that peace contingent. The inescapable inference is that if his conditions are not accepted, he would consider himself...

The president’s resistance to drawing a red line on Iran and his attacks on Romney for being cavalier about military action are fueled by the GOP nominee’s foreign policy blunders—and the knowledge that most Americans oppose a war with Tehran. In the past 10 days, something remarkable has happened: President Obama has gone on the political offensive on Iran. It started just over a week ago when Benjamin Netanyahu took a swipe at Hillary Clinton and tried to pressure Obama into setting a deadline for military action.

The first and most predictable option calls for a massed Israeli Air Force bombing campaign targeting key Iranian nuclear sites. Such an assault would be coupled with strikes from submarine-launched cruise missiles and Israeli-based medium-range Jericho II and long-range Jericho III missiles, according to a highly placed U.S. military officer. Foreign Minister Lieberman has not ruled out the possibility of a unilateral Israeli withdrawal from much of Judea and Samaria, Yisrael Hayom reports. Lieberman’s stance - as expressed in closed-door meetings - was compared to that of Defense Minister Ehud Barak. Former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert also raised the possibility of a major withdrawal in the region. Lieberman, however, conditioned his approval for a withdrawal on two things: that Israel’s security interests would not be harmed, and that the international community would recognize the move as legitimate. He rejected the idea, raised by Barak, that Israelis living in areas affected...

Jordan’s Muslim Brotherhood has given King Abdullah II notice that he has until October to bow to their demand to transform the Hashemite Kingdom into a constitutional monarchy or face "Arab Spring" style street pressure for his abdication. Middle East sources report that Israeli and Saudi intelligence watchers are becoming increasingly concerned about the approaching climax of the conflict in Amman between Islamists and the throne. For Israel, an upheaval in Jordan bodes the tightening of the Islamist noose around its borders – Egypt and Libya to the south and Syria to the north, with unpredictable consequences with regard to...
  • Israelis shrug at Netanyahu's urgent warnings on Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has relentlessly warned that Iran poses an imminent nuclear threat, but most Israelis are sanguine, believing it won't happen or that Israel can handle it. Yes, Iran is a dangerous regime, most say. But even as some get new gas masks and repair their bomb shelters, more than half say they think Mr. Netanyahu's statements about launching an Israeli strike on Iran are a bluff intended to pressure the US to do the job instead.

A VOLUNTEER REMEMBERS THE YOM KIPPUR WARBy JOEL LEYDENSitting in the relative safety of a suburban Long Island home, I first heard news reports of Arab armies attacking Israel on October 6, 1973. It was not exactly clear what was transpiring in the Middle-East. News reports were censored and the media was not overly kind to Israel. I heard my father say that Israel’s UN Ambassador Abba Eban was to address the United Nations General Assembly. I did not know of Abba Eban, I was expecting an Israeli to speak with a thick Israeli accent that most would not understand....

Top Jewish Democrats are standing squarely behind President Obama's decision not to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and warning Israel to butt out of the U.S. presidential race. The White House has been on the defensive ever since Israeli officials publicly complained last week after Obama refused to adjust his schedule to meet with Netanyahu at the United Nations General Assembly in New York later this week. Republicans quickly pounced, urging Obama to reconsider and inviting Netanyahu to meet with them at his convenience. ''I don't think it's necessary for the president to rearrange his schedule,'' Rep. Henry Waxman...

NEW YORK - US President Barack Obama will warn Iran on Tuesday that the United States will "do what we must" to prevent it acquiring a nuclear weapon, and appeal to world leaders for a united front against further attacks on US diplomatic missions in Muslim countries. Preparing to take the podium at the United Nations six weeks before the US presidential election, Obama hopes to counter criticism of his foreign record by Republican rival Mitt Romney, who has accused him of mishandling the Arab Spring uprisings, damaging ties with Israel and not being tough enough on Iran. Seeking to...

Several mortar shells from Syria was fired on the Golan Heights Tuesday morning, causing damage but no injuries. The IDF is on high alert. At least one of the shells exploded in a community in the northern Golan Heights. "Earlier this morning several mortar shells landed in the Golan Heights, causing no damage or injuries," an IDF spokesman said. "The shells were aimed at villages inside Syria and are part of the ongoing internal conflict." He added that the Israeli military had filed a complaint with United Nations forces responsible for the border area, "saying that fire from Syria leaking...

"Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak believe that waiting for Iran to assemble nuclear devices may be too late. Iran’s Supreme Leader, President Ahmadinejad and Revolutionary Guard commanders have publicly threatened to incinerate Israel in a nuclear attack-a second Holocaust. Netanyahu has said “why wait?” While he has spoken with President Obama about this urgent matter, the President has not yet scheduled a meeting with PM Netanyahu during the 67th UN General Assembly session that recently opened in New York City."
