The same congressional panel that launched a preliminary inquiry into Weiner-gate this week has been diddling around with several other Democratic ethics scandals for years. These aren't foxes guarding the henhouse. They're sloths guarding the foxhole. The House Ethics Committee is now reportedly probing into Twitter-holic Democratic New York Rep. Anthony Weiner's possible abuse of government resources while sending pervy messages and photos to young women across the country. The latest batch of Weiner's leaked social-media self-portraits -- more cheesecake than beefcake -- showed him in various states of undress at the congressional gym. From what other public buildings has...

Via the Blaze. Believe it or not, the 90 seconds in the video aren’t the dumbest part; go read the blockquote from his extended floor remarks at Ace’s site for his unified field theory of how all jobs ultimately flow from the First Amendment. Usually it’s the Commerce Clause that’s cited when the left wants to justify a power grab towards a command economy, so give JJJ credit for originality at least. The most fun part of this thought experiment (apart from figuring out how to pay for it, natch) is imagining the sort of insane lobbying wars that would erupt...

Good grief, what was USA House of Representative Jesse Jackson Jr., (D/IL) THINKING when he came up with this silly idea about fixing unemployment by changing the USA Constitution to allow every kid to get an iPod and a laptop. This is beyond being laughable, it is just downright STUPID. It is nonsense like this why the Democrats in the USA House got their clocks cleaned out this past November. The USA Constitution is not a document that can be changed on a whim. Cannot Rep. Jackson Jr. GET THAT?

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., D-Ill., like his famous father, has become a Democratic Party kingmaker, both in Chicago and on Capitol Hill. He's also, according to the September 21 Chicago Sun-Times, the mastermind behind a scheme to raise $6 million in campaign contributions for then-Illinois Democratic Governor Rod Blagojevich in return for a U.S. Senate appointment. The allegation, made by a Chicago-area businessman-fundraiser, Raghuveer Nayak, contradicts Jackson's assertions that he hadn't tried to buy Barack Obama's pending vacant Senate seat in the weeks prior to Election Day 2008. The actual version of events may well determine whether federal...

Jesse Jackson Jr. doesn't deny involvement with a Washington D.C. based restaurant hostess who was named this morning in a Sun-Times story about his alleged attempt to buy an appointment to President Obama's former Senate seat. Jackson Jr. allegedly had a relationship with Giovana Huidobro, a restaurant hostess and former model whose pictures can be seen here, and asked that fund-raiser Raghuveer Nayak pay for her to be flown from D.C. to Chicago on at least two occasions. "The reference to a social acquaintance is a personal and private matter between me and my wife that was handled some time...

U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) said Tuesday he is “deeply sorry” for having “disappointed some supporters” regarding his relationship with a female “social acquaintance.” But the congressman vowed to stay in office in the wake of a Chicago Sun-Times report that a major political fund-raiser has told federal authorities that Jackson directed him to offer former Gov. Rod Blagojevich millions of dollars in campaign cash in return for an appointment for Jackson to the U.S. Senate, to succeed President Obama. The allegation by Oak Brook businessman Raghuveer Nayak regarding fund-raising runs counter to public statements Jackson has made as...

Jackson Jr. declared this morning that if government prosecutors have evidence on him tied to Rod Blagojevich: “Bring it on.” Jackson, speaking on WLS radio’s “Don Wade & Roma” show this morning, for the first time publicly responded to an allegation that he was present at a meeting when fund-raisers discussed collecting $1 million for Blagojevich in exchange for Jackson’s appointment. Jackson said two Indian fund-raisers began speaking in another language at an Oct. 28, 2008, meeting, and he didn’t know what they were saying. “I’m not alone at the meeting, it baffled me, you know: ‘Jackson sits alone with...

The great John Kass of the Chicago Tribune reveals what most of the press has avoided in the Blagojevich case, there's evidence that Congressman Jesse Jackson,, Jr. was involved in a plan to pay off then-Governor Blagojevich for appointing him to Obama's vacant Senate seat.   Junior G-Man might not be a big winner, but he is the luckiest politician in town.Jackson Jr. wanted the U.S. Senate seat once held by President Obama. As governor, Blagojevich had the power to appoint the successor. Blago wanted money. Jackson's Indian friends had lots of it.When it was learned in 2008 that mysterious...

Alexi Giannoulias's road to replace Barack Obama in the Senate from Illinois has just gotten even rockier. Not only is popular GOP Congressman Mark Kirk running against him, but his family's bank was seized by the government on suspicions of corruption. And now Democratic Congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. may actually back Kirk. Yes, the son of Jesse Jackson might back a Republican. Politico is reporting this as it becomes obvious that Giannoulias may actually lose in this very blue state.

Months after winning the state's highest office, Rod Blagojevich and some of his closest advisers met to discuss how they could turn their political fortune into personal riches, with the new governor listening as Antoin "Tony" Rezko stood at a board and outlined the ideas, prosecutors alleged in a new court filing Wednesday. Rezko, one of the governor's top fundraisers, was the alleged mastermind of some of the plans. Chris Kelly, the Blagojevich confidant who took his own life last fall, sometimes hopped up to add his two cents, prosecutors alleged. Also there was Alonzo "Lon" Monk, then Blagojevich's chief...

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released its 2009 list of Washington's "Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians." The list, in alphabetical order, includes: 1. Senator Christopher Dodd (D-CT): This marks two years in a row for Senator Dodd, who made the 2008 "Ten Most Corrupt" list for his corrupt relationship with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and for accepting preferential treatment and loan terms from Countrywide Financial, a scandal which still dogs him. In 2009, the scandals kept coming for the Connecticut Democrat. In 2009, Judicial Watch filed a Senate ethics complaint against...

Well, not that Isaac Hayes, who died last year. Rep. Jackson's Republican challenger could have some fun with campaign slogans invoking his more famous namesake. Tired of getting the Shaft from Washington? Vote for Isaac Hayes. Or: Isaac Hayes -- finally, a Chef who won't spoil the broth. And maybe even: Vote for hot buttered soul.

Former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s camp was told last year that U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill.) would raise up to $5 million in campaign cash for the ex-governor if he was appointed to President Obama’s U.S. Senate seat, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned. The overture came from at least two members of the local Indian community who approached the Blagojevich fund-raising team last fall, sources say. Besides the $5 million to be raised by Jackson, the proposal also included another $1 million for Blagojevich’s campaign fund that would come from Indian donors, sources say. This is the first revelation that...

A congressional ethics board has launched a preliminary inquiry into U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-Ill), related to President Obama’s vacant Senate seat and the corruption investigation of ousted Gov. Rod Blagojevich, the Chicago Sun-Times has learned. The Office of Congressional Ethics, formed just last year, voted in late March to conduct a “preliminary review,” of actions surrounding Jackson’s bid to be appointed to the Senate seat, according to documents released by the office. The committee launched the action Thursday — the same day Blagojevich was indicted on corruption charges. The panel has asked parties in the Blagojevich case —...

Federal authorities have asked U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson (D.-Ill) why former Gov. Rod Blagojevich believed he would get campaign cash in exchange for appointing Jackson to President Obama's vacant Senate seat, sources told the Sun-Times. More than a week ago, Jackson and his criminal defense lawyer sat down for an interview with investigators in connection with the ongoing corruption probe of the now-indicted Blagojevich. Among the areas of interest, sources say, was what Jackson told his representatives to convey to the Blagojevich camp on his behalf last year -- a time Jackson sought the Senate seat appointment. And, in a...

Days before Gov. Blagojevich was charged with trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's U.S. Senate seat to the highest bidder, top Senate Democrat Harry Reid made it clear who he didn’t want in the post: Jesse Jackson, Jr., Danny Davis or Emil Jones. Rather, Reid called Blagojevich to argue he appoint either state Veterans Affairs chief Tammy Duckworth or Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan, sources told the Chicago Sun-Times.
