The Unified School District in Alameda California has passed a curriculum by a 3-2 vote that includes includes a compulsory 45-minute Lesbian Gay Bisexual and Transgendered (LGBT) lesson for kindergarten through fifth grade. The kindergarten lesson will study sexual orientation stereotypes with childrens books like "And Tango Makes Three" a story about two gay male penguins. Should your tax dollars be used to teach sex education to kindergartners? Yes No Not Sure

A substitute teacher's tool for silencing chatty kindergartners doesn't wash with school officials in Ohio. The teacher has admitted disciplining four boys by placing clothespins on their upper or lower lips. The boys were reportedly talking too much in class. The principal of Amanda-Clearcreek Primary School in Mason, Ohio, says he won't hire Ruth Ann Stoneburner to teach there again. She's also being reported to the state education department. Officials found out about the discipline after a parent complained. The students weren't hurt. The punishment isn't condoned by the district.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - One hit a pregnant teacher, another exposed himself and another stabbed a classmate with a pencil. They've all been suspended from school this year. And they're all kindergartners. In the first four months under new schools chief Paul Vallas, 33 kindergartners have been suspended from Philadelphia public schools, up from just one during the same period last year.
