Opening a second Election Day polling place in Dodge City is impossible, an attorney for the county clerk at the center of a growing Kansas controversy over voting rights said Monday. An 18-year-old Dodge City resident and a Latino civil rights group are suing Ford County Clerk Debbie Cox in an effort to force her to reopen the polling location used by Dodge City’s 13,000 registered voters before Cox moved voting to a site a half mile outside the city limits. Attorneys for the resident, Alejandro Rangel-Lopez, and the League of United Latin American Citizens clashed with attorneys for Cox...

PRESS RELEASE Wichita, KS – In less than three short weeks, citizens across America will head to the polls and vote in one of the most important mid-term elections ever. In Kansas, Operation Rescue applauds pro-life candidates and has chosen to make endorsements in two key races. Kansas Governor and Lieutenant Governor: Kris Kobach and Wink Hartman “You couldn’t ask for a stronger pro-life gubernatorial team than Kobach-Hartman,” says Operation Rescue President Troy Newman. “They’ve been pro-life for years, not just in words but also actions. We endorse the Kobach-Hartman ticket all the way.” Kris Kobach embraces President Donald Trump’s...

Americans should welcome the migrants in the Honduran caravan because they will make the federal government more powerful, Democratic Rep. Joe Kennedy demands in an article for Time Magazine. [Snip] Rep. Joe Kennedy is being groomed by Democrats for a future White House run, and he tries to blame President Donald Trump for the migration, even though the poor Honduran migrants are exploiting border loopholes created by Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Kansas is a state entirely controlled by Republicans now and one that voted for President Donald Trump in 2016 by 20 points. And yet in a couple of weeks, voters there could elect a Democrat to be their governor for the first time in eight years - just in time to have a hand in the upcoming redistricting battle that could shape control of the state for the next decade. Snip Republicans' fears have so far become reality. Polls show Democrat Laura Kelly and Kobach running about even, with a third-party candidate, Greg Orman, taking about 9 percent of the...

The states in these two cases determined that giving Planned Parenthood state Medicaid funds was not a wise use of their limited resources, and that they could better serve their citizens by reallocating those funds to other comprehensive and preventive health organizations that are run more responsibly and offer a broader range of services. Without intervention by the Supreme Court, states like Kansas and Louisiana will be forced to continue to provide tax dollars to the nation’s largest abortion business.

Let me summarize the Hill article: as of this moment, hastily-withdrawn Chad Taylor is back on the ballot for Kansas’s Senate race. Turns out that state law has very specific criteria for withdrawing from the ballot after the primary – like being dead, or being incapable to do the job. And if it’s the latter, you have to say so. Chad Taylor, in his withdrawal letter, did not. Better and better, even if Taylor is allowed to withdraw then the state Democratic party is obliged to put up a replacement. This puts Democrats in a definite bind. It would seem...

President Trump spoke at a rally in Kansas Saturday night, praising his newly-confirmed Supreme Court pick Brett Kavanaugh while also slamming Democrats and urging people to vote Republican in the upcoming midterm elections. Upon taking the stage, Trump told the crowd he was "thrilled" to be with them on a "truly historic night." The president was in Kansas to support Kris Kobach, the GOP nominee for governor, as well as political newcomer Steve Watkins, a Republican seeking to succeed retiring congresswoman, Lynn Jenkins. The president praised Republican senators and Kavanaugh, calling him "a man of great character and intellect," while...

According to investigators, the deputy picked up the food from the McDonald’s drive-thru while Hockaday was working. Officials say a short time after drinking the beverage, the deputy experienced flu-like symptoms, KOAM reports. “He thought he caught the bug, but we found out two weeks later when an employee came forward and told the police department,” Allen County Sheriff Bryan Murphy said to the Wichita Eagle. According to the publication, a co-worker of Hockaday came forward and said Hockaday added “four little squirts” of the cleaner to the cop’s beverage. “In today’s day and age, not only us in law...

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - The trauma of being raped can be shattering, leaving a victim feeling alone or ashamed. For Ashley Dowell, it took time and strength to not allow the trauma to control who she was and who she wanted to come. To see her with Leilana, her 8-year-old daughter, she looks like an everyday mom. However, the trauma from her past is much more complicated. "Even at the time, I didn't really say to myself what actually happened," shared Dowell. It was the summer after eighth grade when Dowell, now 23-years-old, was raped by someone she knew. "I...

Joseph Randle was arrested early Friday morning in Wichita, Kansas, and charged with rape, the latest run-in with authorities for the former Cowboys running back. Online records show Randle, 26, was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail at 3:43 a.m. and charged with rape and a probation violation. There was no bond listed for either charge. The Wichita Eagle noted Randle was sentenced to five years' probation in June after being found guilty of aggravated burglary, aggravated battery, criminal threat and marijuana possession. Republicans in Kansas further splintered Tuesday as the last moderate member of the party to hold the governor’s office endorsed a Democrat for governor over Kris Kobach, the GOP nominee. In a statement, former Kansas governor Bill Graves said he planned to support state Sen. Laura Kelly in the November election. Kelly is running against Kobach and independent Greg Orman. “Laura Kelly is the only Democrat I have ever endorsed for public office,” Graves said in the statement. “And the reason I’m doing that now is because I believe so much is at stake in the state of Kansas. I...

... “In 2016, a lot of us assumed we knew what would happen in Michigan and Wisconsin,” Salvanto told The Post. “It was a great lesson for us pollsters: Even if you think you know what will happen, poll it if you can.” Blame it on the Blue Wall. Since 1992, in six consecutive presidential elections, a solid block of 18 states had voted for the Democrat every single time. They would have given Clinton 239 electoral votes — 89 percent of the way to victory — if she had held on to them all.Few bothered to ask those states’...

Primaries in four states Tuesday — Minnesota, Connecticut, Wisconsin and Vermont — set up competitive governor’s, Senate and House races across the country this November. But even before then, these primaries identified some clear winners and losers that reinforced trends we’ve been seeing all year. Here they are: Winners Trump: At least in Republican primary politics, Tuesday once again proved he’s the king. Republican politicians on the ballot Tuesday who dissed him in 2016 raced to undo that, and those who didn’t do it convincingly enough lost their primaries. In Minnesota’s competitive governor’s race, Republican voters nominated a relative outsider,...
