The leftist media present the fictional story with glee, repeating the lies endlessly, sometimes doctoring the evidence and always ignoring the facts. They appear oblivious to the hatred and division that they are causing. Or worse, they appear to seek violence as a ratings booster. In Ferguson, the mob knew the script. For media and mob it was, “lights, camera, action!” Eric Holder knows every detail of the eyewitness testimony and he knows the physical evidence. He knows, but he doesn’t care. He has a role to play in this sick, political drama and the facts will not change his...

A knife-wielding attacker posed as a law enforcement officer to get inside a Virginia home, stabbed the residents multiple times then told them he'd be back to finish the job as his wife waited outside, prosecutors said. The suspect, 31-year-old Andrew Schmuhl, was wearing nothing but a diaper when he was apprehended after a car chase, authorities said Friday. These and other disturbing details emerged during a bond hearing for Schmuhl's wife, 30-year-old Alecia Schmuhl, Friday morning. The Schmuhls, both lawyers, are accused in the attack of a couple in their 60s. Police have said the attack apparently stemmed from...

Do you remember Shirley Sherrod? She’s the former Department of Agriculture official caught on camera saying she denied a white farmer the full measure of benefits she could have given him, before later describing how she ended up rejecting this racist approach to her job. The late Andrew Breitbart posted excerpts of the Sherrod video that failed to include the part about how she overcame her racist impulse and ended up helping the white farmer. The Obama administration fired Sherrod after Breitbart posted the video. However, based on a review of the full video, Sherrod was offered a new position...

The California Supreme Court ruled Thursday that an illegal immigrant can join the bar and begin to practice law in that state, granting a major symbolic victory to immigrant rights advocates who say it’s a step on the path to equal treatment in employment law. Rebuffing the Obama administration’s arguments, the justices unanimously decided in favor of Sergio C. The unanimous ruling in favor of Sergio Garcia came after California legislators passed a bill last year that specifically authorized the high court to allow qualified applicants into the state bar, regardless of their immigration status. The U.S. Department of Justice had opposed Garcia's application, while California Attorney General Kamala Harris supported it. Neither office could immediately comment on Thursday.

The New York Times has a front-page story today on a political giver named James Robert Williams, who has no visible means of support, but is very generous to both parties and to politicians of different stripes. From the article: ...one government watchdog group called the pattern of donations extremely troubling. Ken Boehm, chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center, said, "In more than 15 years of investigating political corruption, I've never seen a more suspicious set of facts." According to the story by reporters Raymond Hernandez, Alison Leigh Cowan and Jo Craven McGinty, Williams lives in a...

MIAMI — Lawyers for accused Sept. 11 attacks mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed and his four co-defendants are seeking to postpone their Aug. 8-12 hearing at Guantanamo, noting it falls toward the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The trial judge, Army Col. James Pohl, set the date for the hearing in May and specifically ruled out an extension on grounds that it coincided with Islam’s fasting month. He noted in his order then that no defense lawyer at that point had raised objection to a hearing that coincided with Ramadan. But the attorneys do just that in a...

Watch this if you didn't see it live. This was the weirdest press conference by a defense attorney after losing a trial I have ever seen! He praised the jury's verdict! He agreed with their verdict! He said the verdict was fair! Is this incompetence? OR... WAS THAT A SET-UP FOR A 'POOR COUNCIL' APPEAL? DID THE DEFENSE ATTORNEY JUST FALL ON HIS SWORD? DID THE DEFENSE JUST TAKE A DIVE?"

An illegal immigrant applying for a law license in California should be allowed to receive it, the State Bar of California argues in a filing to the state Supreme Court. Sergio Garcia, 35, of Chico, Calif., has met the rules for admission, including passing the bar exam and the moral character review, and his lack of legal status in the United States should not automatically disqualify him, the Committee of Bar Examiners said Monday. “ … Mr. Garcia’s status in the United States, should not, ipso facto, be grounds for excluding him from law licensure. He has met all of...

The BBJ received an emailed tip this week from someone who says they’re an employed, Boston College Law School (BC Law) graduate. The tipster sent screen grabs of a job listing on BC Law’s career site. The post advertises a full-time associate position at a small Boston law firm, Gilbert & O’Bryan LLP, paying just $10,000 per year. (That’s $10K, it’s not a typo.) Larry O’Bryan, one of the firm’s partners, said he’s received about 32 applications for the $10K per year job, since posting it one week ago. He said that while the pay is low, the lawyer who...
