Author and radio host Mark Steyn on the increasing leftist and radical turn - and future - of the Democratic Party.

Conservative Mark Steyn says it is clear Democrats are “moving farther Left at an extraordinary rate.” We see example after example of it these days. Brian Kilmeade gave multiple statements by Democrats that show just how far Left the Party has already moved: Hawaii Dem Sen. Brian Schatz – Announced support for NY Times writer Sarah Jeong and her anti-white, anti-cop tweets. Arizona Dem Candidate for Governor, David Garcia, wants an open border with Mexico. New York Democrat Candidate for Governor, Cynthia Nixon, wants Democrats to openly embrace “Socialism.” New York Democrat Candidate for Attorney General, Zephyr Rain Teachout (yes,...

Here is the Founder of the “Netroots Nation” gathering – Markos Moulitsas – telling Chuck Todd that in the 2020 Presidential Campaign, Democrats must embrace “Socialism” or be “irrelevant.” He even said “Donald Trump doesn’t want his taxes to go up – but everyone else kinda does.” Moulitsas also said of Republicans, “They will be calling us Communists before it’s over with.” Well, yeah! Socialism? Tax increases on everyone? So this will be the message of the Democrats in 2020? The 2020 Democrat Presidential Nomination Battle is going to be a thing to behold! Bring it on!

Forget the Russian government — foreign nationals are increasingly gaining the ability to influence American elections more directly. They’re being granted the right to vote. From Boston, where the city council is debating the move, to San Francisco, where noncitizens gained the right earlier this month in school-board elections, jurisdictions are looking to expand the boundaries of the electorate beyond its citizens.

Liberal-leftism is a mental illness. To find out whether you are afflicted with this deadly and largely incurable condition here is a simple test based on recent events. A man named Faisal Hussain has gone on a gun rampage in Toronto, killing two, wounding 13. [snip] Do you: a) Think of the victims – especially the two fatal casualties (Reese Fallon, 18; and ten-year old Julianna Kozis) – and their heartbroken friends and families. [snip] b) Fabricate a narrative in which the attack has nothing to do with Islam. Call out and vilify anyone who dares suggest otherwise. Reserve all...

I am really trying to figure things out. I feel like I'm in a roller coaster ride. I'm really confused at this point. I read many sources of news. I always come back to FR for sanity checks. But, today, I'm just lost. I don't get it. In the last few years, we've gone from disagreements to literal gaslighting. I read an article, and the article gets things 180 degrees wrong, and there are hundreds of comments replying that anyone disagreeing with it is insane, idiots, moronic, Nazi, racist, mysoginistic, a bot or any other name they can come up...

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If Sen. Bernie Sanders is leading a leftist political revolt, then a summit here of moderate Democrats might be the start of a counterrevolution. While the energy and momentum is with progressives these days — the victory of rising star Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in New York, buzz about Democratic Socialism and the spread of the "Abolish ICE!" movement are a few recent examples — moderates are warning that ignoring them will lead the party to disaster in the midterm elections and the 2020 presidential contest. That anxiety has largely been kept to a whisper among the party's moderates...

President Donald Trump’s refusal to rehash allegations of Kremlin-backed interference in the 2016 presidential election during a joint press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin Monday incensed Democrat lawmakers and left wing media pundits. Standing alongside Putin, President Trump steered clear of confrontation with the Russian, while questioning U.S. intelligence and last week’s federal indictments of 12 Russians for hacking into Democratic email accounts to purportedly hurt Hillary Clinton in 2016.“I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today,” President Trump said following a...

Would it surprise you to learn that if you were picking a governing philosophy based only on personal satisfaction, many would choose to be conservative? The perks cover everything from a potentially better sex life to the ability to lose a few pounds and a sense of greater meaning in life. Don’t take my word for it; let’s go to polls. Researchers at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles recently reported on a study in the Social Psychological and Personality Science that looked at “five data sets that include representative samples from 16 countries,” finding that conservatives found...

Over the past several decades, the left has convinced United States citizens that it is the only option for black and other minority voters. If any blacks dare to deviate from this narrative, they get labeled as an “Uncle Tom” or worse. Fortunately, for the benefit of America’s black community, many black intellectuals have risen to prominence who challenge the left’s perceived ownership of the black vote. And while I do not think the color of someone’s skin matters when seeking truth, these intellectuals provide a perspective and persuasive ability that can’t be matched by others. Thomas Sowell Perhaps one...

On a friend’s Facebook thread, I recently posted the following. It was in response to a rather sanctimonious rant saying things defending socialism since Venezuela isn’t the only socialist country in the world. Also, the person asked if the millions going without health insurance in America mattered. Without the wealth that only free markets, free people and capitalism can create, there’s nothing to socialize. There’s nothing to redistribute. There’s nothing to steal or give away. Does that mean nothing to you? It should. Because in order to have wealth redistribution, you first have to get wealth! In order to socialize...

The latest line of attack from liberals against Brett Kavanaugh, President Trump’s nominee for the Supreme Court, is knocking the judge for his “frat boy”-sounding first name. “We'll be DAMNED if we're going to let five MEN—including some frat boy named Brett—strip us of our hard-won bodily autonomy and reproductive rights,” the influential pro-choice organization NARAL tweeted Tuesday. Comedian Stephen Colbert of CBS’ “The Late Show” also mocked Kavanaugh’s name. “Now I don’t know much about Kavanaugh, but I’m skeptical because his name is Brett,” Colbert said during the monologue on his show Tuesday. “That sounds less like a Supreme...

During a lecture at the Library of Conservatism in Germany, British philosopher Sir Roger Scruton described conservatism as a philosophy that recognizes and acknowledges that good things are easily destroyed but not easily created, such as law, peace, freedom, civility, the security of property and family life. He contends we depend on the cooperation of others for the aforementioned to exist because we have no means or ability to single handedly attain it. He states “the work of destruction is quick, easy and exhilarating.” “The work of creation is slow, laborious and dull.” For the African American, the journey from...

Hollywood tends to pack summer with escapist flicks — popcorn movies that have little to do with the real world, unless you consider rampaging dinosaurs a pressing societal problem. But these five socially-conscious films are sneaking into cinemas, and each has something compelling to say. Sorry To Bother You This surrealistic comedy starring Lakeith Stanfield (Get Out) and Tessa Thompson (Creed) is earning rave reviews for wicked social satire that touches on race, class and capitalism. Stanfield plays Cassius Green, a telemarketer in Oakland whose career takes off once he adopts a “white” telephone voice with customers. Reviewer Kam Williams...

"Faris’ response to the Normalcy program is that there is no value in conserving a burning house. The endangered state of American liberal democracy, he argues, calls for emergency steps from Democrats and the left. They should take advantage of legal and constitutional silences to “transform American politics in a lasting progressive direction,” Faris writes. “Doing so will require party leaders to pursue policy changes that will be ridiculed by their opponents as outrageous affronts to democratic decency and received by their own voters with puzzlement or even shock. They need to do it anyway.” The list of those changes...

Netflix says it has signed Barack and Michelle Obama By: By DAVID BAUDER , AP Media Writer May 21, 2018 NEW YORK (AP) — Barack and Michelle Obama are getting into the television business with Monday's announcement that they had signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. The former president and first lady have formed their own production company, Higher Ground Productions, for the material. In announcing a deal that had been rumored since March, Netflix offered no specifics on what shows they would make. Netflix said the Obamas would make "a diverse mix of content," potentially including scripted and unscripted...

They come in all different disguises. * Protesters disrupting the Mexican restaurant meal of a Cabinet Secretary, forcing her to leave. * The owner of an innocent-sounding “Red Hen” restaurant in Lexington, Virginia boasting that she refused to serve the presidential press secretary Sarah Sanders and asked her to leave. Sanders quite politely did. Now we learn from Sanders’ Dad, Governor Mike Huckabee, that when Sanders did as requested and went to another nearby restaurant — the angry Red Hen owner followed and kept harassing her. (Note: At press time I had heard that Sanders herself was present at another...
