After two successful efforts to replace small bridges in 55 hours over one weekend, the Pennsylvania Turnpike says it is looking for more opportunities to use the fast-replacement approach. In late September, the turnpike was closed for a weekend between Cranberry and Beaver Valley to replace a bridge in New Sewickley Township. Crews built the new bridge directly beside the existing structure, demolished the old bridge and used paraffin to slide the new bridge across beams into place. Earlier this month, it replaced another bridge on the Northeast Extension in Lehigh County. In that case, sections of the new bridge...

A feckless White college professor has posted his “Cracka Commandments” as some kind of warning to frighten White people into being submissive to Blacks during what he sees as the coming “Black spring.” The professor, Christopher Driscoll, a liberal simpleton from Lehigh University working with such deep thinkers as a rapper named Asheru and a Theater professor from Lehigh named Kashi Johnson, was very excited to be allowed to help frame the Ten Cracka Commandments (TCC).” The TCC with sane commentary are as follows: 1.) “Always remember that white privilege is real, even if you do not understand it. Use...

Jasmine Rand, the attorney for Trayvon Martin’s family in the State of Florida v. George Zimmerman trial, spoke at Lehigh on Thursday in a lecture called “Sexualizing Race, Gendering Sex.” Trayvon Martin was a young African-American man walking home from a 7-Eleven in Sanford, Fla., late at night while wearing a hoodie and holding a package of Skittles. George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch coordinator for Martin’s gated community, shot him for “looking suspicious.” Throughout the trial that followed the incident, the phrase “I am Trayvon Martin” was used to generate support for the victim. “That phrase, it was born on...

ItÂ’s commencement season. College seniors across the country are donning mortarboards, getting misty-eyed and preparing to face the realities of President Barack ObamaÂ’s sparkling economic recovery. The Daily Caller is a little misty-eyed, too, because college students will soon disperse from campuses for a long summer, which likely means far fewer stories about stupid and otherwise outrageous occurrences on campus. The time is right, then, to celebrate the academic year that was. Here are the 20 stupidest, most outrageous and most cringe-worthy campus moments of 2012-13. Florida Atlantic University: Worst university in AmericaWhat an embarrassing year for Florida Atlantic. The...

The good people at the Mousegun Addict blog have done some external ballistics testing with Lehigh Defense's Maximum Expansion bullets using water and Corbin SIM- TEST ballistic medium, and the results are positive but mixed. Suffice it to say not one of us would volunteer to be shot with this exotic ammunition. This highly specialized ammo runs about $2 per cartridge, so tests are very welcome. Currently the Maximum Expansion line has offerings in .38 Special, .380 and .45 ACP, 9mm, .40 S&W and even subsonic .300 AAC Blackout. Maximum Expansion ammunition uses a solid copper bullet that is machined...

Some Southern Lehigh High School students who camped in the school's courtyard overnight as a senior prank could face trespassing charges and disciplinary action. Brian McLaughlin of Upper Saucon Township police, who is assigned to the school as a resource officer, said 17 boys took part in the Monday night prank. He is investigating whether any others were involved.

This is a celebration of my right to free speech, press and petition the government. As a whole, the citizens of the United States consider their country to be a democracy. Roger Baldwin, who founded the American Civil Liberties Union in 1920, said, “So long as we have enough people in this country to fight for their rights, we’ll be called a democracy.” And now, citizens, we must fight for a more egalitarian society in the United States. With such an egalitarian society there are no social classes. There is no private property or state. Communism would permit the complete...

Moore yells in Lehigh speech: '4 more days!' Activist moviemaker tells packed house that Bush must go. Dozens of protesters gather outside. By Genevieve Marshall Of The Morning Call October 30, 2004 America has shifted to a more liberal ideology and it's only a matter of time before George W. Bush and the Republicans realize that they are in the minority, filmmaker Michael Moore said Friday in a speech at Lehigh University's Stabler Arena. ''Four more days!'' Moore yelled, rallying Democrats to head to the polls on Tuesday. It is also a reference to the end of his month-long, 60-city...

Click on the thumbnails for a full-size picture In a shocking display of partisanship on a campus already known for its left-wing bias, Lehigh University has placed an exhibit of 5 full-sized wall photographs depicting President Bush and his cabinet in compromising situations in the home of its History and Political Science departments. One of the photos depicts President Bush in a drunken stupor fondling a woman's breasts, while another depicts a group of whores, one of whom represents Dr. Condoleezza Rice, surrounding a table displaying numerous elephants, the Republican Party symbol. The artist, Larry Fink, draws a connection...

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- The photograph confronts anyone walking through the lobby of Lehigh University's humanities building: A man who could be President Bush's identical twin smirks for the camera, his left hand touching a woman in a negligee. The 4-foot-by-4-foot image, part of a satirical exhibit by internationally renowned photographer Larry Fink, has upset student conservatives who see it as evidence of a liberal bias on campus. ``My first impression was tasteless, absolutely tasteless. The picture of the president borders on slanderous,'' said David Hauptmann, 22, a senior international relations major. The exhibit's curator, Ricardo Viera, makes no apologies, saying...
