New York City’s LaGuardia Airport has been ranked the worst large airport in the United States, according to a new survey. The notoriously unpopular facility, which is located in Queens, came in last among 21 airports in its category. Even more surprising is that LaGuardia came in last despite this year having an all-time high traveler satisfaction rating. The ranking was conducted by JD Power and asked about customer experiences. New York’s other major airport also scored noticeably low — it was ranked fourth worst among the country’s mega airports. Among those that also received a poor score were Newark...

If you thought trips to the airport were tough enough, now it seems flyers have been forced to drag their bags along the side of the road just to get in and out of LaGuardia. Was it a case of poor planning by the Port Authority? And will things gets worse as construction clogs the airport? As CBS2’s Lou Young reported, building the new airport at the old airport was bound to cause problems, but no one was expecting this kind of trouble.

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo introduced a plan to completely overhaul LaGuardia Airport that comes with a $4 billion price tag for the first part. He made the announcement Monday at a luncheon detailing new infrastructure plans for his state. Vice President Joe Biden was at the meeting. Biden, who last year compared the airport to something found in the "third world," fully supports the plan which will break ground next year. Total construction will take about 18 months, Cuomo said. "It is actually happening," said Cuomo. "LaGuardia Airport is un-New York."

A passenger plane skidded off a snowy runway at LaGuardia Airport, smashing its nose through a seawall fence and breaking off a wing Thursday morning. Everyone on board is “safe” and there were no serious injuries, but some of the 135 passengers and five crew members on board suffered “bumps and bruises,” sources said. At about 12:30 p.m., a middle-aged black man who appeared to be in shock was seen getting wheeled on a gurney through Terminal D, where the passengers were being examined and treated. A Delta airplane slid off a runway late Thursday morning at New York's LaGuardia airport, its nose breaking through a fence before skidding to a halt. Video from CNN affiliate WABC shows people walking off the commercial jetliner and onto snow-covered ground at the airport. Emergency vehicles could be seen then around the MD-88 aircraft, which Delta said had 125 passengers and five crew members aboard. The incident didn't cause any known injuries, according to New York's fire department, which indicated that all passengers were off the aircraft about 30 minutes after it landed. Delta said in a statement that...

In a sarcasm-laced letter, Gov. Tim Pawlenty on Tuesday brusquely rebuffed DFL legislative leaders' invitation to a summit meeting that would address the state's ongoing financial crisis. Late last month, Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller and House Speaker Margaret Anderson Kelliher invited former governors, speakers and majority leaders to a "Minnesota Leadership Summit." In Tuesday's letter to Pogemiller and Kelliher, Pawlenty declined the invitation. "The state already has a 'Minnesota Leadership Summit,'" he wrote. "It's called the legislative session and it lasts approximately five months."
