  • Paul Ryan, Joe Biden, and Liberal False Equivalence

    Catholic Vote ^ | August 10, 2012 | Carson Holloway
As Josh Mercer noted earlier today, Mitt Romney’s selection of Paul Ryan as his vice-presidential running mate sets up a stark contrast between the two Catholics on the two contending national-tickets. Ryan is pro-life and a supporter of marriage as the Church understands it (and as it has been understood by the whole human race time out of mind, that is, as a union of a man and a woman). As a public man, at least, Biden rejects these Catholic positions and advocates for the opposite positions. This contrast will, of course, be somewhat embarrassing to liberal Catholics who want to...

Liberals upset with Barack Obama's few compromises with the GOP have a new moniker for the president many consider the most left ever: "Deeply conservative." Academics and liberal pundits have started talking about Obama as right-of-center politically just as he has begun to reach out to independents and moderates in his reelection campaign. Some are true critics who wish he would do more for labor and welfare recipients and implement tougher carbon limits on coal plants. Others are trying to portray Obama as a middle-of-of-the-roader attractive to moderate voters, not the liberal Mitt Romney attacks daily. The latest claim that...

Every attempt to find the dumbest thing in liberal world this week just led to another, and another, each dumber than the last. Picking just one to rant about became a task of epic proportions, so two of them it is. In no particular order…A Chicken The name Adam Smith has a storied history, particularly in economics. Now, that name has a smudge on it thanks to Adam Smith of Arizona. This Mr. Smith became infamous on Wednesday for his uncontrollable hatred for anyone who might disagree with him on the issue of gay marriage. That’s fine. Far be it...

A while back I posted some match-ups for conservative women and superheroines (see them here) with the promise to follow up with liberal super villains. The premise is simple (and in this case, easy to make), match up a liberal to a villain in pop culture. With the previous post it was limited to comics/sci-fi, I loosened up a bit for this one.In some ways this was a little more difficult, some of the villians have very little source material to work with. However, I do have more matches than I did with the ladies.

Its been like this since 6:00 AM. It was 8:15 PM. The employee had a tired but sincere smile on his face as he went from car to car, already a block from his restaurant, thanking customers for both their patience and their support. Chick Fil-A Appreciation Day has apparently taken on a life far greater than anyone could have envisioned, and according to reports pouring in from around the country, the Bible-respecting chicken franchise has had to call in off-duty staff in an attempt to keep up with the hordes of people flocking to the store. For seven years, the people of London has been preparing for the Olympics. The city has been scrubbed clean and new facilities were constructed for the big event. City leaders have been very proud of the massive effort that it took to stage the Olympics. Unfortunately, there have been a number of real problems such as a lack of security personnel and hundreds of empty seats at numerous events. The embarrassing footage has forced organizers to fill in seats with members of the British military.

For too many years the left has used the charge of racism to put opponents on the defensive and deflect from serious debate on the issues. This practice also gets used across the spectrum of demagoguery. Are you against laws that lead to grammar school children being taught about gay marriage or religious adoption agencies being forced to close because they won't place children with gay couples? You're homophobic. Are you against laws that support federally funded abortions for 13 year old girls without parental notification? Sexist. Apparently, Mayor Rahm Emanuel agrees, saying, Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values. Thomas M. Menino, Bostons mayor, has also vowed to deny the restaurant chain a permit to build there. The problem with this sanctimonious dissing of Chick-fil-A is that there is no proof the business has discriminated against gay couples, let alone any of its customers or employees. In fact, company executives assured Moreno they would leave the debate about gay rights to the politicians and government. But those assurances apparently arent good enough. The recent General Convention of the Episcopal Church has prompted a broader discussion of the fate of liberal Christianity. No surprisethe Episcopal Church has been one of the most aggressively liberal influences in American Christianity in the past few years, pushing hard against the traditions of the broader Anglican Communion. In The New York Times, Ross Douthat goes so far as to ask, "Can Liberal Christianity Be Saved?" But that question necessarily prompts two others: What is Liberal Christianity, and Should it be saved? Liberal Christianity is dying on the vine. Mainline denominations are taking big hits across the board....

The general consensus amongst most experts and analysts -- even those hired by the mainstream media -- is that there are political biases in mainstream media. Media has been divided into two distinct factions: liberal and conservative. The bad news in recent decades has fallen on the shoulders of the liberal media. Ratings for CNN have been in steady decline since 2003. Canada's Postmedia has announced major cutbacks that include layoffs and less circulation. Although Postmedia is not often recognized as liberal, it has been known to focus extensively on biased editorials and op-ed pieces in its major newspapers. This...

It’s a Massachusetts Rorschach test. In 2009, the state unemployment rate peaked at 8.7 percent. It’s now down to 6.3 percent — a 28 percent drop. Meanwhile the number of Bay Staters on food stamps has jumped from 720,000 to more than 850,000, a 15 percent increase. Here’s the test question: Is that a good thing, or bad? Look, the economy still stinks, but it doesn’t stink as bad as it did in 2008-2009. And yet, from 2007 to 2011, spending on food stamps went up an astonishing 135 percent. And it’s still going up. Mark Levin is now insisting that Romney reveal his plans on how he wants to replace Obamacare and fix the other entitlement programs like Social Security, Medicare, etc. He understand that there may be strategic reasons for keeping it quiet, but considering the fact that Romney is making some very liberal appointments to his team including his transition team appointment Mike Leavitt, a guy who has been pushing for health care exchanges in the states, Levin feels its high time for Romney to explain to the American people what we should expect from a Romney presidency in terms of repealing/replacing...

Gay is OK", says Iman Women lead prayers, homosexuals are accepted and same-sex marriages allowed: In the US, a group of liberal Muslims have more and more followers. One of their leaders is an openly gay imam. He is patient. It just takes time for everything. Daayiee Abdullah sits in front of a still locked house on a small stone bench, waiting. Behind the seat, a ladder is leaning against the wall, which leads to a window frame a few feet above. There, a painter is painting with white paint, directly above him. Abdullah does not care. He is clothed...

Ex KGB defector and university professor Yuri Bezmenov once said, It is worth noting that the stated goal of the communist dialect is to nudge people from the truth a little bit at a time, until they are so convinced of false realities, that they are no longer capable of discerning the truth even when they see it in front of their own eyes. The lefts Orwellian usage of language is so scientifically deceptive, that most of us have friends or family members, who although otherwise reasonable, have been so profoundly nudged from the truth, that no amount of...

Gun rights advocates recently discovered that the gun control group Mayors Against Illegal Guns has burrowed its "gun violence prevention coordinators" (read "anti-gun lobbyists") into city payrolls from Augusta, Maine to Seattle, Washington, at taxpayer expense. MAIG is the brainchild of New York City's zealous anti-gun billionaire mayor, Michael Bloomberg, who formed the group at a 2006 gun control summit held in Gracie Mansion and co-hosted by Boston Mayor Thomas Menino. MAIG touts an agenda of "commonsense reforms" that gun rights advocates see as being somewhere on the far side of repealing the Second Amendment. With a membership that started...

Pelosi defends $1M tax-cut threshold proposal from liberal criticsBy Mike Lillis - 05/31/12 01:32 PM ET House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is pushing back against liberal critics of her proposal to extend the Bush-era tax rates only for those earning less than $1 million per year. President Obama has supported a tax-cut extension only on family incomes up to $250,000. The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP) a left-leaning group often cited by Democrats reported Wednesday that hiking the threshold to $1 million would sacrifice hundreds of billions of dollars in federal revenues, perhaps leading to...

This liberal groupee feigned offense over Allen West remarking that his liberal groupees were at his town hall again. Two older veterans called her out on it and she proceeded to tell one of them f you!, at which point the veterans wife stepped in to defend her husband. The liberal groupee then slightly shoved the wife who promptly shoved right back and threatened to wrap her cane around the liberal groupees neck. Awesome! This is just more evidence of the profound effect Allen West is having on the left in Florida. Their heads are about to explode! Watch below:
  • Shamed, Civil Beat Revises 'Fact' Check Questioning Djou's Afghanistan Combat Record

Even after updating a May 17 Fact Check which this writer characterized as "taking three sentences from an hour-long May 1 Rick Hamada interview with Afghanistan combat veteran Rep. Charles Djou, twisting Djou's words into a pretzel and fact-checking statements Djou did not make", Civil Beat is still lying about Charles Djous Afghanistan combat record and his votes in Congress relating to that war. (See article below.) Shamed into retracting their false rating, Civil Beat on Friday shifted to a half-true. In spite of the shift, the half-true rating remains a lie which hangs on a single sentence of willful...
