Jared Polis really doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. If you saw the Colorado congressman speaking on the House floor last month wearing a clip-on bowtie with a polo shirt under his blazer, you know what I’m talking about. He’s been this way since he first emerged on the scene. About 10 years ago, when he was just 28, Polis was one of four wealthy Colorado Democrats who pooled their considerable personal resources to create a state-of-the-art political machine that was ruthlessly effective in turning this once-red heartland state a stunning shade of blue. But Polis wouldn’t run with that...

LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4)- Police in Longmont are trying to figure out how a toddler got her hands on marijuana that made her sick. Two year old Evelyn tested positive for pot and ended up in the hospital but her mother doesn’t know how the child came into contact with the now-legal drug. Evelyn’s mother, Aida Hernandez, believes the child ate part of a cookie she found on the ground in the grass outside of their apartment. “It was brown, like a chocolate chip cookie,” said Hernandez.

The homeowner pointed the gun at Carter and told him to "hit the ground" several times, police reported. Carter instead attempted to back out of the house and made it out the back door onto the patio, but the homeowner again demanded that he lie down and fired a single shot into the ground. Carter then complied, according to reports. Longmont Police Cmdr. Jeff Satur said Tuesday that the investigation remains open and he cannot comment about additional details. He said the Boulder District Attorney's Office is reviewing the case to make sure the homeowner did not violate any laws...

LONGMONT -- The closing of Longmont's Butterball plant at the end of the year marks the end of a 51-year run for Longmont's turkey plant. Both he and his wife work at the plant, and both will start the new year looking for work. LONGMONT — Free Marijuana in Longmont is collecting signatures to ask voters in November to change city pot laws. The group wants to legalize possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana for adults and reduce city penalties for public consumption of marijuana and possession of some types of drug paraphernalia. Volunteers have been walking neighborhoods, knocking on doors and visiting local bars and hangouts as they try to collect the 3,485 signatures they need to put the question before voters. Free Marijuana volunteers...

As I was driving to work the other night on my trek from Boulder to Ft. Collins a fairly large two sided 'advertising' sign in front of a church, Faith Community Lutheran, in Longmont caught my eye. Upon first glance at about 55 mph I thought it was an advertisement for 'Mountain Dew' and about a 1/2 mile down the road my natural curiosity caused me to turn around for a closer look. The sign said "Experience what Jesus can Dew for you", along with the hours for the church services. Get this... the color scheme was exactly that of...
