Austin private equity firm Clear View Group has purchased two iconic African American lifestyle magazines from Chicago-based Johnson Publishing in a sale that took place in May, according to the Chicago Tribune. Ebony, a periodical that has reflected the lives of African Americans since 1945, was a notable influence and observer during the civil-rights movement of the 1960s. Historical images of subjects such as the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., Muhammad Ali and Lena Horne were not part of the sale. Jet magazine has transformed from print to digital only.

However, I can't find any issues on amazon, ebay, or any other site. It's a fairly obscure magazine today, although it was much more popular in the 80s and 90s, from what I understand. Hi all, I've got a question regarding buying magazines for a couple of handguns, and due to age, factory magazines (what I prefer, except for my AR and 1911,) are simply not available. I've got a late 80s Taurus PT99 in 9mm & a Star FireStar in .40S&W. The mags in both are getting a bit long in the tooth. Factory magazines are simply no longer an option for either. The most commonly available magazines for both are Meg-Gar or Promag. In the case of the Firestar, it appears that the only choice IS Promag, though I've seen references to...

The magazine will still feature women in provocative poses, but they will no longer be fully nude, Playboy said in a statement. It marks the latest step away from depictions of full nudity, which were banned from the magazine's website in August 2014. The magazine claims it website...

Time notes that during the 1979 Iranian hostage crisis Jimmy Carter negotiated with the Iranian Mullahs who took over Iran after deposing the Shah. Reagan also negotiated with the Mullahs, Time notes. Of course, in both cases

It’s really very, very simple for New Jersey Governor Chris Christie. New Jersey’s absurd citizen control fetish doesn’t play well in New Hampshire, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Utah, Nevada, South Carolina, North Carolina, Arizona, or Michigan. These state comprise the first two months of the 2016 Presidential primary season, and the majority of Republican voters in these states are either very pro-gun to begin with, or are trending towards passing much more Second Amendment-friendly laws. One day into the Colorado ban on magazines that hold more than 15 rounds of ammunition, pawn shop owners have discovered the first unintended consequence of the new law — people who’ve pawned weapons with now-outlawed 30-round magazines can’t get the magazines back, even if they pay off their pawnshop loans. Under Colorado law, when customers pawn items, they transfer ownership to the pawn broker in exchange for the right of first refusal to buy them back under the terms of the pawn agreement. As of Monday, it’s illegal to buy magazines that hold more than 15 rounds, leaving some...

That has now changed, and the bill has some . . . interesting provisions. Despite Rep. One of the most talked about components of gun control legislation is a magazine capacity limit. Proponents of gun control will often question why anyone needs more than X number of rounds (often 10) in their magazine. This is usually answered with a response about how it isn’t about what we “need” or with an analogy like “why does anyone need a car that goes faster than the speed limit.” Both of these answers are true but they leave a lot to be desired because there are practical reasons for why we actually do need magazines with larger capacities. Many...

More 3D printed magazines coming. The people at Defense Distributed are hard at work creating files to print out popular magazines in standard capacities of 10, 15, 17, 25, 30, 33, and 40 rounds. At least one of the people working on the DefCad site has already printed a floor-plate and magazine body for a Glock pistol. The early Glock magazines were made of plastic, so they are well suited for this process. We will not know how these designs will hold up until they are actually printed and tested. However, 30 round magazines that were prototyped for the...

3D printed magazines have been successfully used by Kel-Tec for three years, I discovered at the NSSF Shot Show in Las Vegas yesterday. I talked to Tobias Obermeit, Lead Design Engineer at Kel-Tec, one of the most innovative firearms manufacturers in the United States. Mr. Obermeit said that "Without 3D printing, the PMR-30 would not have been developed, especially the magazine." Mr. Obermeit informed me that a prototype magazine would be printed and then be used for 100 to 150 rounds, when they would develop cracks. The magazine would then be discarded and another magazine printed. Tobias Obermeit holding a...

QUESTION: HOW MANY GUNS PROTECT THE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT IN CHIEF? When I was active duty, there was a minimum of about 30 guns around the POTUS, established in 3 "rings of security". Senators and Congressmen in active service were assigned a minimum of 2 guns (men) each, and, when retired were assigned one each. They carried large magazines of ammo and a minimum of 3 magazines each. So how many gun that the ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT IN CHIEF wants to outlaw, along with the magazines he wants to outlaw, does he have protecting him every day? The United States Citizens KNOW...

No, you are not a felon or a 2nd Class citizen if you call a "magazine" a "clip." It IS something you might as well get figured out, though, and correct if you want to have respect within the shooting community. It's just a fact, many will judge you as someone who doesn't know much about firearms if you call them "clips." I might still love you, but many won't. :-) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoSNHe413rY

    B. Todd Jones, the Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Cathy Lanier, Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., are being challenged on selective enforcement of the District’s ban on so-called “large capacity ammunition feeding devices” for semi-automatic firearms. This column will serve as a follow-up to an earlier request asking who authorized violation of the ban, after NBC’s David Gregory produced a magazine during his Dec. 23 “Meet the Press” interview with National Rifle Association head Wayne LaPierre. That request was documented by Gun Rights Examiner and sent to the respective...

If you own a semi-automatic firearm or detachable magazine, they may be banned, taxed, and registered and you could easily become a felon unless you act NOW Anti-gun legislators led by Senate President John Cullerton and backed by Governor Patrick Quinn (D) substituted and passed sweeping draconian gun and magazine bans in the Senate Public Health Committee today. House Bill 1263, amended to include a ban on many commonly owned firearms passed in this committee by a 6 to 4 vote. American Thinker ^ | January 3, 2013 | William A. Levinson
Senator Dianne Feinstein's latest divide-and-conquer attack on the Second Amendment has made even Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) a sucker for the argument that private citizens do not need high-capacity magazines. These include not only 30-round rifle magazines, but 17-round magazines for handguns like the Glock. Why does anybody need a high capacity magazine? If Senator Manchin were to educate himself by, for example, attending Front Sight's four-day defensive handgun class, he would learn the two primary answers: (1) Failure to stop the aggressor, and (2) Multiple aggressors Failure to Stop The classic .38 caliber revolver, with a capacity of six...

David Gregory walks free while Iraq vet was jailedIt’s been more than a week since police in Washington, D.C., opened an investigation into NBC’s David Gregory’s possession of a “high-capacity magazine” that’s prohibited in the District on on national TV. Metropolitan Police Chief Cathy L. Lanier’s spokesman refused Monday to respond to whether Mr. Gregory had even been interviewed yet. This is a rather curious departure for a city that has been ruthless in enforcing this particular firearms statute against law-abiding citizens who made an honest mistake. In July, The Washington Times highlighted the plight of former Army Spc. Adam...
