Police in northern Baghdad found a mass grave Tuesday that contained the remains of 15 people, an Interior Ministry official said. The grave was in a house under construction in the Ur neighborhood, which used to be controlled by Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army militia. Iraqi officials say gunmen have killed a cleric loyal to US foe Muqtada al-Sadr in the southern city of Basra. Police say Sheik Oday Ali Abbas al-Ajrish was killed on Friday evening near his home. A Basra police officer and a medic from the city's morgue confirmed the killing. Al-Ajrish's brother, Mohammad al-Ajrish, is a member of the tribal council for southern Iraq. Al-Sadr lives in Iran but retains significant influence in Iraq.
