New map for what to plant reflects global warmingupdated 1/26/2012 1:48:29 PM ET WASHINGTON - The government's official map of colorful planting zones is being updated for a warmer 21st century. **SNIP** It's the first time the government map has been updated since 1990 and much has changed. Nearly entire states, such as Ohio, Nebraska and Texas, are in warmer zones now.

"Recent satellite images of Greenland make it clear that there are in fact still numerous glaciers and permanent ice cover where the new Times Atlas shows ice-free conditions and the emergence of new lands," they say in a letter that has been sent to the Times. The first map is a disturbing illustration of food and inflation riots around the globe in 2011 (updated through Feb. 19) I came across on Google.
