American flags were everywhere, and red, white, and blue were the colors of the day at Patriot1’s house in Metairie, LA (a suburb of the Big Easy) for the Gulf Coast Freeper get together. Approximately 40 patriots sang patriotic songs, reminisced and watched videos about past Freeper activities, and enjoyed the top-notch entertainment provided by JR and the Freepettes, while feasting on a large variety of delicious food. Patriot1 adorned her fence with 16 posters filled with photos from past Freeper and patriotic activities, as well as printouts of articles from FreeRepublic.com concerning these activities. She also displayed Freeper memorabilia ...

After a real good, but chilly FReep in Olney, a bunch of us returned to the Olney Compound for the D.C. Chapter's Christmas Party, a warm fire, and some good cigars. As dinner time approached, over 30 FReepers, Lurkers and honored guest had arrived. Pics were by iMacMan and VAFlagWaver. Cindy_True_Supporter (she's no dummy) forgoed standing on the cold corner to help [Mrs] T get ready. But after we arrived from our Olney FReep, at lot of us pitched in (just a little), while also nibbling on the chip & dip and candies. Honored guest were Legionnaires Glenn (USMC -...

A great time was had by all at the Tampa Bay area freepers dinner held at a New Port Richey restaurant. Good thing we had a semi-private room as the air was thick with animated freeptalk and loud laughter (especially at a certain end of the table !). Diners included M. Kehoe, Mr. and Mrs. Seek the Truth, Mr. and Mrs. Gonzo, Bob Ireland, Quinton Ireland, Scottteng, Rice Bug and MinuteGal....plus Matchett P-I, the Florida Central Chapter Leader who drove in from the Orlando area to join the gathering of Eagles here on the central gulf coast. A table prize...

Stephanie Burns and Ben Parkinson strolled down sun-drenched Fillmore Street with political thievery on their minds. Both are grass-roots volunteers for Republican presidential contender Ron Paul, a Texas congressman whose libertarian views might seem to make him a tough sell in this legendarily left-wing city. But Burns, Parkinson and other Paul supporters have been spending their weekends marching, staffing tables and knocking on doors in an improbable quest: picking up some of California's 173 convention delegates in the Feb. 5 primary. On the surface, the plan seems quixotic given general assumptions about California: that the state is too big for...

I recently had the opportunity to travel to HarleyD's hometown and thought it would be fun to meet a fellow FReeper/Calvinist. After all, if FR can be used by God to bring couples together in marriage, surely there must be room for friendships. I contacted Harley and he was agreeable to meeting for lunch. After a few emails to hash out the details we set a time and place and at the agreed upon time we got together for a little more than an hour and got to know each other IRL. We had a great conversation! Topics covered included...

Hello You People, The Kentucky Chapter Meeting is now concluded. I wish we could have had a larger turnout. But we had fun, nonetheless. In attendance were RonPaulLives, SomeCallMeTim, Skinkinthegrass, BlueOneGolf (and his family), and Lurker Jeff. To quote SomeCallMeTim, "I learned a great deal about Kentucky politics that I didn’t know. It was also really fun to hear the various brands of Conservatism that we all have. So many viewpoints and varying priorities.... but, we all were united in our love of Liberty. I guess this constant unites Freepers more than any other." A-men to that. We have decided...

We have had a slight adjustment in the plans for the 5PM Saturday, April 22nd Meeting of the Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com. Our get-together will now be held at Kreuz's BBQ at 619 N. Colorado St. in Lockhart, Texas(25 miles SE of Austin and 35 miles NE of New Braunfels). Kreuz's BBQ is directly off of 183. Since we have a BBQ Controversy over who had the better BBQ in Lockhart, we have decided to switch to Kreuz's because of the facilities which include a separate meeting room and better bathrooms. For all of you investigative folks, here's...

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Frustrated by government and empowered by technology, Americans are filling needs and fighting causes through grass-roots organizations they built themselves — some sophisticated, others quaintly ad hoc. This is the era of people-driven politics. From a homemaker-turned-kingmaker in Pittsburgh to dog owners in New York to a "gym rat" here in southwest Florida, people are using the Internet to do what politicians can't — or won't — do. This is their story, but it's also an American story because ordinary folks are doing the extraordinary to find people with similar interests, organize them and create causes...

It's time once again for the DC Chapter of Free Republic to gather for our annual Christmas party. This year, we're planning something a little different. Mr. & Mrs. trooprally have graciously offered to host our Christmas event at their home in Maryland on Saturday, December 10, from 3:00-7:00 p.m. They will furnish plenty of delicious food, buffet-style, including choice of turkey or ham and lots of side dishes. The sodas and mixers will be provided, but please BYOB. The modest cost for this mouth-watering spread will be $15 per person -- much less than if we were to have...

Howdy fellow Freepers in the Northern California area,For Halloween, my husband and I are planning on attending the "Monster Bash" aboard the historic U.S.S. All proceeds goes to the preservation of this historic (and most haunted) landmark. Hope we see some FReepers there!Link to the Hornet's website here. Here is the official advertisement:

Hurricane Season historically ends at the beginning of November. Since we've been through quite a bit this Summer, I thought I'd put out the feelers and see how much interest there might be in a gathering / get together type Barbecue / picnic during the first weekend of November. So far, my home base of Lafayette, LA has fared pretty well with Katrina landing to our east and Rita to our west. If you're from the gulf area, or will be, or would like to be passing through during the weekend of 11/5-6. In addition to just getting together, we...

(CNSNews.com) - Anger over a recent U.S. Supreme Court decision involving the use of eminent domain is now affecting how some constituents in Virginia's 8th congressional district treat their incumbent House member. A small group of Virginians Friday held a mock auction to sell the office of Democratic U.S. Rep. James Moran after Moran refused to denounce the Supreme Court's Kelo vs. New London verdict, which affirmed the right of a municipality to seize private property for commercial use. The House resolution, denouncing the Kelo decision as the nullification of private property rights, passed overwhelmingly, 365 to 33. Thirty-two of...

During the 2004 Democratic primary, new online site Meetup.com gained media notoriety as it propelled the Howard Dean campaign to the forefront of the Democratic ticket. Thousands of liberals were meeting monthly to send Dean to the White House. The liberal media bias had spawned a liberal online virus. In response, Townhall.com decided to counter the liberal invasion and co-opt Meetup for its own purposes: to further the conservative agenda. Using Townhall’s resources, we promoted the Meetup groups to you - our valued Townhall.com readers. With great success, our Meetup force grew to over 25,000 people strong. Townhall enthusiasts all...

Are there enough FReepers on the Western Slope of Colorado to warrant a breakfast/meet n greet in Grand Junction on Saturday, April 16, 2005 at Starvin Arvin's? I would like to see us playing a bigger role in local and national politics, and thought this would be a great time to get to know each other and work on a plan on getting involved. If there is enough interest, let's do it! I think we could make this a regular thing, and eventually get special speakers in and more.

This is a great opportunity to meet with the candidates and find out where they stand on the issues that matter to you.
