  • MH17 missile 'came from Russia', Dutch-led investigators say

    09/28/2016 10:55:04 PM PDT · by Berlin_Freeper · 42 replies ^ | 28 September 2016 | BBC
International prosecutors say Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 was downed over eastern Ukraine in 2014 by a Buk missile that had come from Russia. They also narrowed down the area it was fired from to a field in territory controlled by Russian-backed rebels. All 298 people on board the Boeing 777 died when it broke apart in mid-air flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur.

An Australian couple who lost three kids when Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down in 2014 has some happy news: they have welcomed a baby girl. Perth parents Anthony Maslin and Marite Norris’ kids – Mo, 12, Evie, 10, and Otis, 8 – were flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur when their plane was shot down by a missile over eastern Ukraine in July 2014. The three kids were killed, along with their maternal grandfather Nick Norris.

Research group: images of twenty Russians responsible for downing MH17 The number of people in the picture for the downing of flight MH17 is reduced to twenty Russian soldiers. They know which of them on July 17 2014 the Buk missile fired at the unit of Malaysia Airlines. That says Eliot Higgins, founder of the international collective research Bellingcat in an interview with NOS. The network of citizen journalists urged through social media and other public Internet resources on the military. A comprehensive report containing their names and photographs has Bellingcat two weeks ago given to the Dutch Public Prosecution...

"That's a horrible thing that happened," he said. "It's disgusting and disgraceful but Putin and Russia say they didn't do it, the other side said they did,...
  • Final report MH17. Dutch Safety Board: Buk surface-to-air missile system caused MH17 crash

    Dutch Safety Board ^ | 13 October 2015 | Dutch Safety Board
The crash of flight MH17 on 17 July 2014 was caused by the detonation of a 9N314M-type warhead launched from the eastern part of Ukraine using a Buk missile system. So says the investigation report published by the Dutch Safety Board today. Moreover, it is clear that Ukraine already had sufficient reason to close the airspace over the eastern part of Ukraine as a precaution before 17 July 2014. None of the parties involved recognised the risk posed to overflying civil aircraft by the armed conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine. Download press release

Dutch investigators repeatedly rebuffed Russian efforts to insert alternative theories into an authoritative report about the July 2014 downing of a Malaysia Airlines passenger plane over eastern Ukraine, according to documents released along with the anxiously awaited report on October 13. Appendices published (here and here) with the Dutch Safety Board’s report show that Russia attempted to convince investigators to invoke "other scenarios," such as the possibility that Flight MH17 was struck by an air-to-air missile. Critics have accused Moscow of floating the air-to-air-missile and other theories in order to deflect attention from substantial evidence indicating the Boeing 777 was...

MOSCOW -- As Western media broadcast somber footage from a darkened room in the Netherlands dominated by an assembly of dented, shrapnel-riddled pieces of a passenger jet shot down over Ukraine’s conflict zone last year, the pictures on Russian TV on October 13 were dramatically different. [....] On their front pages and Internet sites, Russian media moved headlines that seemed aimed at absolving Moscow of any of the blame for the downing of Malasyia Airlines flight MH17, which crashed on July 17, 2014, on territory held by Russia-backed rebels in eastern Ukraine. “Experts Say MH17 Might Have Been Downed By...

The long-awaited Dutch report into the shooting down of flight MH17 suggests attempts were made to cover up the causes of the disaster, including a bungled autopsy on the body of the captain in which metal fragments from a Buk missile were deliberately removed. *** The report by the Dutch safety board said that more than 120 objects, “mostly metal fragments”, were found in the body of the first officer, who had sustained “multiple fractures”.. When Dutch experts identified the captain’s body they found it had already “undergone an external and internal examination to remove foreign objects”. Despite apparent attempts...

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine by a Russian-made Buk missile, the Dutch Safety Board concluded on Tuesday in its final report on the crash in July 2014 that killed all 298 people on board, most of them Dutch. But the long-awaited findings of the board, which was not empowered to address questions of responsibility, did not point the finger at any group or party for launching the missile.

Data from black boxes, satellite imagery and photos from the crash site were expected to feature throughout the report and findings would be “based on objective analysis of available evidence”, the briefing note said. “The purpose of the report is to determine the cause of the accident, not identify who was responsible,” it said. The online sharing tool was launched in April, giving airlines up to date information about the airspace status of countries such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Ukraine, Egypt, Yemen and Mali. Other recommendations by the taskforce regarding conflict zone risk, included a comprehensive review of existing requirements...

The Russian arms manufacturer says it has begun work on the next generation of the Buk medium-range advanced defense missile system. The V.V. Tikhomirova Scientific Research Institute of Instrument Design announced on Tuesday that work has begun on the development of new versions of the Buk self-propelled medium-range surface-to-air missile system. "The management of Almaz-Antey, our parent company, has given us the task of working out a proposal for the further development of the Buk air defense missile system," Yuriy Beliy, NIIP's general director, told RIA Novosti on Tuesday. • MH17: 'Russian missile parts' at Ukraine crash site

Fragments of a suspected Russian missile system have been found at the Flight MH17 crash site in Ukraine, investigators in the Netherlands say. They say the parts, possibly from a Buk surface-to-air system, are "of particular interest" and could help show who was behind the crash. But they say they have not proved their "causal connection" with the crash. MH17 crashed on land held by Russian-backed rebels in July 2014, killing all 298 on board. There were 283 passengers, including 80 children, and 15 crew members on the Malaysian Airlines airliner. About two-thirds of those who died were Dutch nationals,...

RUSSIAN-backed rebels in Ukraine’s east believed they had shot down a Ukraine Airforce fighter jet as disturbing new footage shows them ransacking the luggage of passengers and crew from Malaysian Airlines Flight MH17. A year ago today, 298 passengers and crew including 38 Australian citizens and residents died aboard the Kuala Lumpur bound commercial flight after it was shot down over east Ukraine, 40km from the Russian border. Much footage exists particularly on the internet of the aftermath of the downed airliner, smouldering over three main wreckage sites about the rebel stronghold of the embattled Dontesk region. But, after a...

A new independent report finds that Russia doctored photos to implicate the Ukrainian military in the shooting down of the Malaysian airliner MH17 last July, casting doubt on Russian claims that neither separatists armed by Russia nor its own military were to blame for the disaster. The report is the latest by the independent analysis group, Bellingcat, which has been using open source material -- often video and photos posted on social media -- to provide hard evidence that Russia has been sending troops and weapons into eastern Ukraine to support rebels there, despite denials from the Kremlin. MH17 was...

This is a recent report put out by Bellingcat which shows that the Russkies photoshopped their alleged evidence of Ukrainians shooting down MH17. This had been debunked through other means, for example, that the Ukrainian SU25, which was one of the possible culprits for this, is a ground attack plane that is too slow and can't reach the altitude the Russkies were claiming. Subsequently the Russkies got into a Wikipedia war trying to upgrade the SU-25 on the internet in order to fool stupid people. Nevertheless, if you still need more, this report goes into great detail showing that the...

The fragment forms part of an exhibition marking 70 years since end of WWII A Russian museum plans to exhibit a plane fragment from downed flight MH17, despite the fact Dutch investigators are still combing the area for evidence to establish who exactly shot down the Boeing 777. Local media published photos of the fragment brought from the militant-held area of Donetsk by a Russian veteran's organisation, to the museum in the Russian coastal town of Eisk near the Ukrainian border. The so-called souvenir will form part of an exhibition commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Soviet Union's victory over...

Russian secret services may have executed the troops suspected of shooting down Malaysian Airlines flight MH17, say sources involved in the investigation of the crash over eastern Ukraine. The Dutch-led probe is leaning towards a conclusion that a BUK missile fired from rebel-held territory downed the Boeing 777, killing all 298 on board. And it is highly likely the aircraft was shot out of the sky by Russian military personnel, according to a report by the Netherlands' state broadcaster NOS, citing anonymous sources in the police and the group of investigators working on the probe into the plane's loss.

A report released today by German investigative group CORRECT!V concludes that a Buk surface to air missile launcher operated by the 53rd Russian Air Defense Brigade shot down passenger jet MH17. The report, titled MH17: Searching for the Truth, marries fresh testimony from military experts, separatist fighters and residents of east Ukraine, with photo, video, social media and satellite evidence to produce a compelling account of the events that led to the tragic deaths of all the Malaysian Airlines flight’s 298 passengers and crew on July 17 2014.

Russia has adopted a new military doctrine, keeping North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) expansion first among its list of primary external threats. The revised doctrine [PDF in Russian - 29 pages with 58 sections], signed by President Vladimir Putin on Friday, is comparable to a 2010 version, which also listed NATO expansion as a primary threat. Additions to the doctrine include a highlighting of the threat from "global strategic antiballistic missile systems" and a Russian goal to protect its interests in the Arctic region, according to Russian state-funded news organization RT. The doctrine’s adoption comes days after Ukraine took a...
