Congressman Mike Rogers [R-Michigan] gave an interview recently and said he walked out of a meeting a few weeks ago between you and US Ambassador Dan Shapiro with a sense that you were at wit’s end over American policy toward Iran. Are you? No, I am not at wit’s end. I believe we have to stop Iran, I believe we can stop Iran, and I think certain things are needed to do that. One of them is setting clear, designated limits to Iran’s nuclear weapons programs activities. I think that has not yet been done, but I am an old...

But he said he did not know who carried out the attack. "People don't go to demonstrate and carry RPGs and automatic weapons," sad Arizona Sen. John McCain, the top Republican on Levin's committee. The pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future is preparing a new round of television ads in the state of Michigan, breaking the GOP's silence on the airwaves there, according to several sources familiar with the group's plans. The Romney-boosting group will run commercials in the Detroit, Flint, Grand Rapids and Lansing markets between Sept. 19 and Oct. 2, one media-tracking source said. The dollar figure for the buy remains to be seen, but the geographic scope is pretty comprehensive. ROF will also air ads soon in Wisconsin, according to a second source. The Romney campaign and its independent-spending allies have...

PORTSMOUTH, N.H. – Flush with cash, Mitt Romney plans to open a new front in the White House race by challenging President Barack Obama in upper Midwest states where he might not have dug in otherwise. Obama is intensifying his efforts to cast his Republican rival as out of touch, which he's already been working pretty hard at doing. This is the beginning of the homestretch to Election Day, when everything in the two campaigns goes into overdrive and a September or October surprise could upend it all. -snip- In the coming weeks, Romney's team is expected to pay for...

Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson vows that a check-off box asking voters to confirm their U.S. citizenship will once again appear on November ballot applications, raising concerns among voting rights advocates who argue it's unnecessary, intimidating and could suppress voting. (snip) "Johnson added the citizenship checkbox to ensure that only U.S. citizens participate in Michigan elections," [Sec. of State Department spokesman Fred] Woodhams said. For several years the left and their media minions have claimed that by bailing out Chrysler and General Motors, President Obama saved Detroit. On Friday, the perilously liberal schlockumentarian Michael Moore debunked this in an article at the Huffington Post astonishingly saying, "No, he didn't." "Last week, I said on the HuffPost Live webcast that we had all better start practicing how to say 'President Romney' because, living in Michigan, I can tell you that there's trouble here on the two peninsulas and it's not just because Romney is a native son or that we like to watch kids from...

When the Romney-Ryan ticket announced a major ad campaign in eight states last night, the media noted that Wisconsin and Michigan were not among them and then jumped to the conclusion that these states are no longer in play. Wrong. Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul told Right Turn that the campaign is “definitely not” abandoning these states. She told me: “Stay tuned.” The Romney-Ryan camp, I was told, has expensive ground games in these states, as well as in Pennsylvania. .........Hotels contacted by The Washington Times about bedbug reports either referred calls to their corporate headquarters or didn’t return messages. Charlotte has a long way to go before its bedbug levels approach cities such as New York, Cincinnati and Washington, D.C., where recent infestations have made national news, but a study this year by pest control company Orkin shows activity there has been on the rise. The survey, released in March, rated Charlotte as having the 33rd-most bedbug reports of any city in 2011. The list was topped by Cincinnati, Chicago and Detroit. By contrast, the GOP’s choice for its...
