I don’t know about you, but when I want articles on women that read like bitter Summer’s Eve scripts, I turn to Newsweek. Under the editorial control of Tina Brown, the rice paper magazine barely struggles against its bias towards conservative women to view them with anything other than contempt. Check out Newsweek’s latest cover, which they happily Tweeted out minutes ago:

Bachmann says she won't vote to raise debt ceiling By Rod Boshart Journal Des Moines Bureau Sioux City Journal | Posted: Tuesday, July 26, 2011 5:29 pm Alex Brandon ANKENY - GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann said Tuesday that President Barack Obama has a serious spending problem and it's time to cut him off. Bachmann reiterated her stand that she will not vote to raise the national debt ceiling, but she advocated a temporary fix that would pay the interest on the debt and military salaries as a way to stave off an economically risky U.S. default scenario as an...

Because she leads the pack of GOP presidential contenders in Iowa, Michele Bachmann has been attacked on all fronts. The mainstream media has attacked her husband’s controversial “gay therapy” clinics that received federal taxpayer dollars. Those on the left have accused Bachmann of being a lightweight demagogue who is insensitive toward gays. And those on the right have expressed their irritability at someone who they accuse mugs for the cameras while lacking a record of significant legislative accomplishments. And last night, The Daily Caller published a story that detailed Bachmann’s history of nearly debilitating migraines and her alleged dependence on...

Benjamin Franklin said, “Sin is not hurtful because it is forbidden, it is forbidden because it is hurtful.” Someone ought to hang that quote in every doorway of every school and office of the Atlanta Public Schools system. Last week’s release by GeorgiaGov. Nathan Deal of an investigative report on widespread cheating within APS on the state’s standardized curriculum tests raises more questions than it answers. How did a school system the size of Atlanta’s establish such pervasive unethical habits? Apparently some 178 educators, including 38 principals, are named as perpetrators of this educational fraud, and more than 80 have...

Sarah Palin, Ron Paul and Michele Bachmann are surging in Iowa, according to a recent American Research Group poll of Republican voters. Rep. Bachmann (R-Minn.) received 21% of the nods from the poll of 600 likely Republican caucus voters, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who came in second with 18%. Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), who Wednesday said he wasn't "cut out to be in politics," came in a respectable third place with 14%. But Palin's results were impressive. In April a similar poll found her receiving only 4%, but now a similar group of Iowans put her in...

Bachmann signs "values" pledge to oppose same-sex marriage, Sharia law, pornography By Stephanie Condon Social conservative presidential candidate Michele Bachmann ups the ante in Iowa by signing a "values" pledge that other Republican presidential candidates may not support Socially-conservative GOP presidential candidate Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota has become the first candidate to sign a conservative Christian group's pledge to oppose same-sex marriage and uphold "core values." Bachmann's commitment to the pledge ups the ante in Iowa, where the other Republican candidates may now be pressed harder to prove their social conservative credentials. The support of groups like Family Leader,...

For years now there has been a clear power struggle within the Kansas Republican Party, but some major party figures say something about that tussle has changed. The rift between conservatives and moderates, they maintain, is widening into a chasm that could have significant implications for the party and the state. "I see Kansas Republicans being more divided than in years past," said Senate Majority Leader John Vratil of Leawood. (snip) ...conservative forces in the Capitol are stronger than ever. But many aligned with that side of the party want more. They seek decisive legislative majorities that could push an...

"Bachmann surges far ahead of Republican contendersBut candidate trails if Rick Perry, Chris Christie, Sarah Palin enter race Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is surging far ahead of her Republican rivals in the race for the 2012 GOP presidential nomination, according to a new Zogby poll. The U.S. representative from Minnesota, who led among announced candidates in a June 21 poll, has now added 10 percentage points to her previous mark, and now stands at 34 percent. That's a 19-point lead over second place Herman Cain, who stayed the same at 15 percent support. Get ready for severe inflation that could destroy...

Michele Bachmann says "John Wayne was from Waterloo, Iowa" and the media goes nuts. Ohhhhhhhh what an idiot, she confused John Wayne with John Wayne Gacy the serial killer. Ha ha ha. Now comes word that… yes indeed… Clyde Morrison and his blushing bride Molly got married in…. Waterloo, Iowa. And settled there. Later moving to Winterset, Iowa. Where they had their bouncing baby boy ...Who grew up to become -- yes indeed -- John Wayne. Not John Wayne Gacy.

Here is the Left’s understanding of her statement: • Michele Bachmann hopes Melissa Etheridge's cancer will teach her to stop being gay Here is the fuller quote about this 2004 point: • "Unfortunately she is now suffering from breast cancer, so keep her in your prayers. This may be an opportunity for her now to be open to some spiritual things, now that she is suffering with that physical disease. She is a lesbian**." [....] After some fun I asked this of another friend who posted info on Bachmann’s “gaffes”: …. Tell me, what most bugs you about Bachmann besides...

Chris Wallace is back again commenting on one of his interviews, but this time he is also apologizing. Earlier today he interviewed Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann and rather bluntly asked her “are you a flake?” It’s a question that Wallace now admits he regrets. Wallace acknowledged that Bachmann seemed perturbed by the question and then addressed his viewers:

The greatest speech by an American leader on Israel. This is what America needs in the White House. Seriously, this is greatness. What a breath of fresh air and righteousness in Obama's current climate of hatred and jihad-enabling.

"The conventional wisdom that Mitt Romney is a 'clear frontrunner' has taken root among political pundits. But a new poll suggests that Republican voters simply prefer candidates who aren't in the race yet, and that Romney is quite vulnerable. In the past, we have seen how poll results can be dramatically different based upon which candidates a pollster chooses to include. The latest polling experiment puts Romney in a head-to-head matchup against various candidates, including those who have not yet declared they're running. (No, Sarah Palin wasn't one of them.) The poll, conducted by IBOPE Zogby/Newsmax, pits Romney against Chris...

Presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann joins fellow conservatives Newt Gingrich and Tim Pawlenty in being attacked with glitter by gay rights activists. According to the Star Tribune, the Minnesota congresswoman was “glittered” Saturday after delivering a speech at the RightOnline Conference. The publication reports that Minneapolis gay-rights activist Rachel E.B. Lang came up to Bachmann and twice chucked glitter at her. (Major Garrett critical of 2012 Bachmann bid because ’she can’t keep anybody on her staff’) Bachmann continued walking even as Lang yelled, “You can run, but you can’t hide.” Lang was quickly removed by security. “My response to Michele Bachmann’s...

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Michele Bachmann said again Monday that the American intervention in Libya was a mistake — but this time she had to talk over a heckler who shouted vulgarities at her. Jenny Watkins, 22, shouted at Bachmann from the back of a large room at the University of Iowa here, while a male companion held a sign that read "Desensitized Homosexual" — a reference to an earlier part of Bachmann's speech, when she said she worried that children in elementary school would be desensitized to homosexuality. The two might have been escorted out with little fanfare, but...

Republican Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is not afraid to continue to beat the birth certificate drum as a criticism of President Obama. Appearing on the radio show of conservative host Jeff Katz, Bachmann didn’t bring up the birther issue, but when prompted by Katz with it, happily declared how she would be different than Obama. Katz was amazed that his sons had to provide more documentation to play little league baseball than what he alleged Obama ever had to provide. Bachmann assured Katz how there won’t be any lingering questions with her:

PRESIDENT Barack Obama and his glamorous wife Michelle are living a life of luxury at the taxpayers’ expense, according to a bombshell new report. American tabloid the National Enquirer says Barack has spent a fortune on parties, vacations and expensive designer clothes. “It’s outrageous Obama and his family are spending money like water when the rest of America is frantically tightening their belts in a desperate bid not to drown in their financial woes,” said one political insider. “How can he pull this kind of stunt during what amounts to a modern day depression? “Obama and his wife are acting...

The Washington Post had an interesting article on June 25 headlined, “A First Lady Who Demands Substance.” .....(snip)..... it ended up revealing a Michelle Obama that is an angry, arrogant, martinet that isn’t aware that “first lady” is an honorary title that has no proper, Constitutional role and is not an elected position with legal, legitimate powers of its own.

Every week there is another Obama publicity/public relations stunt. If you were in charge of the Obama propaganda machine what would you do to promote the Obama image and to misdirect people away from all of the disastrous Obama policies? If I were in charge of the Obama publicity machine, I would have Michele vacuum the White House rugs on the Oprah show, to show that she is a humble, real, folksy person. What would you do.

US Congressional Candidate Cindy Sheehan Calls on Pelosi to Explain Silence on Torture Briefing. US Congressional Candidate Cindy Sheehan today called upon Nancy Pelosi to respond to a story printed in the December 9 Washington Post which claims that the Speaker of the House was present in a 2002 meeting where four members of Congress were given a virtual tour of the CIA's overseas detention sites and torture program. According to the CIA, no objections were raised by any member of Congress present in the meeting, even though waterboarding, the interrogation technique profiled in the meeting, is illegal under international...

It’s vital that we ask questions of this Administration as it continues to insert itself into the private sector. Most recently, it’s reported that the Obama Administration is considering asking Congress to give the Treasury Secretary the authority to take over non-bank financial companies, such as large insurers, investment firms and hedge funds. Giving the Secretary this authority would be an unprecedented transfer of power to the federal government. The current model for regulating the financial markets relies on independent agencies that are independent from the political process. I have serious concerns regarding the role of government intervening in the...

BUTTE, Mont. -- Barack Obama wants to make something clear: He loves America. After a series of incidents that prompted questions about his patriotism, the Democratic presidential candidate is peppering speeches with explicit statements on his love of country. "I love this country not because it's perfect but because we've always been able to move it closer to perfection," he told an audience in North Dakota. And in Montana: "It's a country where ... I've seen ordinary Americans find justice, where I've seen progress made for working families who need leaders who are willing to stand up and fight for...
