Representative Mike Kelly (R PA) introduced an amendment last night to H.R. 1960, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2014 (NDAA), to prohibit federal funding for the implementation of the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) for one year. The audience rose to its feet after Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Penn.) chided Acting IRS Commissioner Steve Miller about the Internal Revenue Service’s treatment of taxpayers at a hearing of the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday. The hearing focused on the agency’s targeting of conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, including those with names that included “tea party” or “patriot.” “You get a letter from you folks, or a phone call, it’s with terror that you look at it, and now this kind of reconfirms that—you know what—they can do almost anything they want, to anybody they want, anytime they...

Acting IRS Head Steven Miller was not sure of much of anything during his testimony on Friday at a House Ways and Means Committee hearing in the wake of an ongoing Internal Revenue Service scandal. The controversy erupted after IRS official Lois Lerner apologized during a conference for targeting conservative groups applying for tax exempt status. The move by the IRS has made many question the powers of the vast government agency.

Rep. Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) went on a rant during outgoing Acting IRS Commissioner Steven Miller's testimony before the House Ways and Means Committee on Friday, earning himself a standing ovation at its conclusion. After an intense line of questioning, Kelly used up the balance of his speaking time by laying into Miller with a nearly three-minute long rant. "I have to tell you — where you're sitting, you should be outraged. But you're not," Kelly said to Miller, who resigned on Wednesday at the request of the White House. "The American people should be outraged, and they are. ... This...

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: I saw this last night. Congressman Mike Kelly, Pennsylvania Republican, got a standing ovation while he spoke in the House. That doesn't happen. No applause is allowed members of Congress. A president can go in there and, of course, they raise the roof. But the protocol does not permit applause, a standing ovation, or this kind of stuff during session. He got a standing ovation for what he said. There's a visual here that I want you to have while you listen. He holds up a stack of papers. It's 11000 pages of lending requirements, and he's...

Representative Mike Kelly, speaking on the House floor today, managed something very rare in the history of the institution – he got a standing ovation. Applause is usually forbidden in the house, but Kelly‘s blistering attack on regulatory red tape and Washington’s culture of control was apparently so powerful that several of his fellow house members couldn’t resist showing their support, clapping, standing up and shouting “USA! USA! USA!” Would you applaud this way? See Kelly’s speech below and decide for yourself:

Pennsylvania Congressman, Mike Kelly, wants to end the $7,500 tax credit that affluent purchasers of electric vehicles are currently taking advantage of. The most hyped of these vehicles has been General Motors' Chevy Volt, but other plug-in cars, like Fiskers and Teslas, sell for close to $100,000 and make a strong case for Rep. Kelly's argument. Let's look past the recent Chevy Volt fires. The value of a vehicle will be determined by the consumer. It does not matter if Jay Leno and other rich purchasers say they love their Volts. The real questions are, should taxpayers be paying...

House Republicans aren’t worried about primary threats from Tea Party activists, who are unhappy with the level of spending cuts in the 2011 budget deal and the possibility of raising the debt limit. Mark Meckler, co-founder of one of the nation’s largest Tea Party groups, said votes in favor of the budget deal and raising the debt ceiling will make for a toxic electoral combination for House Republicans. “I’m literally getting emails by the hour from people talking about primary challenges,” Meckler, a leader of the Tea Party Patriots, said. But freshman members of the House don’t appear concerned. “It’s...
