CANBERRA (Reuters) - Two in three Australian travelers are either members of the notorious Mile High Club or would like to be a member, a survey showed Monday. Asked if they would consider a mid-air sexual encounter, almost half of 1,110 people surveyed wanted an adventure, while 12 percent already had mile-high membership wings. "People are obviously looking for more stimulating entertainment than a movie or a CD when traveling by plane," Totaltravel.com global marketing manager Paul Fisher said. A flight attendant for Australia's flag carrier Qantas was sacked last year after claiming to have had a tryst with actor...

A Seattle-area man has been charged by federal air marshals with groping a female passenger aboard a United Airlines flight that was diverted to Pittsburgh as a result of the alleged incident. Michael L. Holland, 46, made his initial appearance before a magistrate on Monday on a charge of abusive sexual contact, according to Ted Hresko, special agent in charge of the Pittsburgh air marshals' office. Holland had been chatting with the woman Sunday on United Flight 917, which was bound for Seattle from Dulles International Airport near Washington D.C., Hresko said. ""The next thing you know, he's groping her,"...

LAS VEGAS -- A plane headed for Las Vegas from Seattle was diverted to Portland on Thursday afternoon after at least one passenger said a couple tried to join the "mile high club." US Airways Flight 1473 left Seattle at 2:58 p.m., but a pair of unruly passengers caused it to be diverted and head for Portland International Airport. The flight landed in Portland at 5 p.m. and a spokeswoman for US Airways said two people were escorted off the plane after a dispute with flight attendants. A passenger said the couple was fooling around and decided to go into...

Tony and Julie Elwood booked the first A380 double suite but the journalists clamouring to see inside their room prevented them from beating the sex ban Steve Bleach The A380 may have the world’s first airborne double bed, but it won’t be put to the obvious use if Singapore Airlines has its way: “If couples used our double beds to engage in inappropriate activity, we would politely ask them to desist,” said the company’s Stephen Forshaw. “There are things that are acceptable on an aircraft and things that aren’t, and the rules for behaviour in our double beds are the...

The new Airbus A380 proudly flown by Singapore Airlines last week is a huge aircraft with plenty of room for all kinds of activities. Except one: sex. If you're thinking of booking the world's first flying double bed, you'll first need a lot of money. And second of all, no desire to have sex. Singapore Airlines has said that if couples using the double suites "engage in inappropriate activity," they'll be politely asked to stop. One of the first couples to fly in the suite thought this seemed a bit unfair since the flight attendants kept bringing champagne. We agree...

A California man who prosecutors said got a little too friendly with his girlfriend during a flight was convicted Thursday of interfering with flight attendants and crew members. Carl William Persing and his girlfriend were seen "embracing, kissing and acting in a manner that made other passengers uncomfortable" during the September flight from Los Angeles to Raleigh, according to a criminal complaint. Persing twice threatened a flight attendant who told the couple to stop and refused to serve them alcohol, prosecutors said. The FBI met the couple when the plane landed in Raleigh. Persing, 41, will probably serve jail time...

Qantas stewardess tells how she fell for Hollywood star in Seat 2K...and how after a mad, passionate fling he abandoned her to face the sack... The attraction had been immediate and overwhelming from the moment they first made eye contact. But as Qantas stewardess Lisa Robertson leaned over towards Hollywood star Ralph Fiennes to offer him a drink, she could not have imagined how the evening would unfold - or that she would end up in a passionate tryst with him in the aircraft lavatory. When rumours first emerged that Ralph Fiennes joined the Five Mile High Club in the...

HOLIDAY flings, mile-high club fantasies and flirting with attendants are common on Australian flights, according to an eye-opening survey by online travel company ZUJI.com.au. If the national survey of more than 1000 people in August is to be believed, 45 per cent of men and women have enjoyed some extra "R'n'R" by having a holiday fling after reaching their destination. Some but not many men start their holiday fun early by filling out their mile-high club membership form. Just seven per cent of men surveyed have joined the exclusive club. But it's unclear just who they joined the...

DENVER (AP) - A Miami man apparently hanged himself in an airplane lavatory during a United Airlines flight from Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles, and the plane was diverted to Denver after his body was discovered, police said Thursday. The Denver medical examiner's office identified the man as Gerald Georgettis, 56, and said his body was found on Wednesday. Medical examiner's spokeswoman Michelle Weiss-Samaras said an autopsy was planned. Police detective Virginia Lopez said no other passengers were ever in danger. "Right now, everything leads us to believe the male involved did commit suicide," she said. United officials did not...

Some folks on the ground are having problems with the Mile High Club. San Antonio Air Tours is offering charter flights for sex in the sky. But officials in Castroville, Tex., west of San Antonio, made it clear they do not want the charter service using the city's airstrip. And Stinson Airport, a municipal field on the south side of San Antonio that the tour company uses, pulled the promotional brochures out of its lobby and asked the Federal Aviation Administration to look into whether the service is legal. Phillip Carroll, owner of San Antonio Air Tours, contends it is....

A Texas travel agency which organises clothing-optional holidays, is to run what it claims is the world's first nude flight. Houston-based Castaways Travel says sex won't be allowed on the flight from Miami to Cancun in Mexico. It has chartered a Boeing 727 for up to 170 passengers for the May 3 flight to the El Dorado Resort & Spa. The crew will be professionally dressed, and passengers must be fully-clothed for check-in and takeoff. Company owner, James Bailey, said more than half the seats on the flight and rooms in the resort have already been booked, reports the Miami...

Clothes on the Cancn flight will come off at cruising altitude. Miami passengers on a flight to Cancn won't be fretting about dressing comfortably. In fact, they won't be dressed at all. A Houston travel agency specializing in clothing-optional vacations is organizing the outing, which it claims is the first nude flight. But no hanky-panky, please. ''Inappropriate behavior is not condoned,'' said James Bailey, who owns Castaways Travel with his wife, Donna Daniels. ``This is not a Mile High Club, not a bunch of groupies or anything. It's just a fun flight.'' Castaways has chartered a Boeing 727 for...
