Defense: The firing of two nuclear commanders in a week adds to a body count that suggests we have either the most corrupt and incompetent general staff in history or our military is being reshaped for other purposes. The Obama administration, which has fired no one over scandals such as its Fast and Furious Mexican gun-running operation, its criminal negligence in the terrorist attack on our Benghazi diplomatic mission, or the use of the IRS to target and intimidate political foes, seems to have a curious obsession lately about ethics and competence in the U.S. military. Last week the Air...

The top officer and enlisted soldier for the 143rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command have been temporarily suspended, officials announced Monday. Brig. Gen. Bryan W. Wampler, the commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Don B. Jordan were suspended Oct. 10 pending an ongoing investigation, said Maj. Thomas Campbell, a spokesman for the 1st Theater Sustainment Command. The 143rd ESC falls under the 1st TSC. Campbell said he could not discuss the ongoing investigation, but he did say it is not related to any criminal misconduct. The 143rd is currently deployed to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait. Wampler took command of the 143rd in January,...

Video at link: The Air Force’s two star general in charge of the units responsible for its 450 nuclear missiles has been fired “due to a loss of trust and confidence in his leadership and judgment.” Maj. Gen. Michael Carey has been removed from command of the 20th Air Force, according to an Air Force statement. That command is responsible for the three wings that maintain control of the 450 intercontinental ballistic missiles scattered in missile silos across the northern plains. Lt. Gen. James Kowalski, the commander of Air Force Global Strike Command, made the decision because of what the...

The Air Force just announced the firing of a 2-star general named Michael Carey. He was in command of the 20th Air Force, with 450 ICBMs under his control. His boss, Lt. Gen. James Kowalski, said, "It's unfortunate that I've had to relieve an officer who's had an otherwise distinctive career spanning 35 years of commendable service." The reason officially given was "conduct" and somebody leaked that it was alcohol abuse. Perhaps that is the true and only reason, but something seems odd here. A quick internet search reveals Carey as a model officer who joined as an enlisted man...

WASHINGTON — The Air Force fired the general in charge of its nuclear missiles on Friday, just two days after a Navy admiral with top nuclear weapons responsibilities was sacked. Both men are caught up in investigations of alleged personal misconduct, adding to a cascade of turmoil inside the nation’s nuclear weapons force. The Air Force removed Maj. Gen. Michael Carey, a 35-year veteran, from his command of 20th Air Force, responsible for all 450 of the service’s intercontinental ballistic missiles. Carey, who took his post in Wyoming in June 2012, will be reassigned pending the outcome of an investigation...

Carey, who took his post in Wyoming in June 2012, will be reassigned pending the outcome of an investigation into personal misbehavior, the service said. The Air Force would not specify what Carey is alleged to have done wrong, but two officials with knowledge of the investigation indicated that it was linked to alcohol use.

The Air Force on Friday fired the general in charge of all land-based nuclear missiles, the second time in a week that a senior commander of the country’s nuclear arsenal has been let go for allegations of personal misconduct. Maj. Gen. Michael Carey, commander of the 20th Air Force, was removed from his job “due to a loss of trust and confidence in his leadership and judgment,” said Brig. Gen. Les Kodlick, an Air Force spokesman. Air Force officials said Carey has been under investigation since this summer for allegations of “personal misbehavior” but would not specify what prompted his...

Lt. Gen. Mark P. Hertling, the now-former commander of U.S. Army Europe, quietly departed Germany last week and retired days later at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. “Lt. Gen. Hertling’s decision to retire was a matter of personal choice... "The command didn’t alert the press to, nor issue a news release on its website, where Hertling’s official biography now says he “was” USAREUR commander from March 25, 2011, through Sunday.

Last December, in my post, “Obama purges U.S. Command, Part 1,” I wrote: Within two months after the Benghazi attack, four senior U.S. military officers were purged: Gen. Carter Ham, on October 18.Adm. Charles Gaouette, on October 27.Gen. David Petraeus, on November 9.Gen. John Allen, on November 13. Ostensibly, Petraeus’ “retirement” and Allen’s suspended promotion are due to both men’s moral conduct. But surely we are not so naive as to think that Petraeus and Allen are the only U.S. military officers who’ve ever committed adultery or written flirtatious email. As for Ham’s “retirement” and Gaouette’s “temporary re-assignment” (reassignment to...

“There are many purposes behind the feminists’ [left’s] efforts to restructure the military, but you can be sure that greater national security is not one of them.” ~ David Horowitz, National Review, October 5, 1992 Here we go again, the left has their man in the white house and they don’t have to worry about re-election for four more years, therefore, unfettered by public opinion or sane rational thought, the war on the military will begin in earnest immediately. Look for the left to appoint a 21st Century version of Congresswoman (Democrat) Pat Schroeder to bring the DoD to its...

Bear with me folks, I'm not a conspiracy nut but there has been a series of unusual happenings in the senior military officer staff. Supposition: If you were a senior military commander and seriously concerned with the direction of the country; with upcoming presidential elections, how could you ensure the current administration loses? First, Find like minded senior officers I knew well and respected. Meet with them and devise a plan. Second, I would find information so damaging to the current President that he could not possibly be re-elected. Third, I would confront him with the information and demand he...
