A former student at a Roman Catholic college has filed a lawsuit against the school, after ending up with a roommate who she says repeatedly made love with her boyfriend in their shared room. Lindsay Blankmeyer, 21, claims the college in Easton, Massachusetts didn't do enough to help her when she complained about her roommate Laura Sidla's overactive sex-life. Blankmeyer suffered from depression and attention deficit disorder before she enrolled at Stonehill College, the lawsuit alleges, but was driven into a suicidal depression after school officials failed to offer her reasonable alternative accommodation. Suing: Former student at a Roman Catholic...

Woodruff Park will be closed next week for work crews to repair damage that city officials said was done by Occupy Atlanta protesters. The downtown park will be closed for up to two months, AM750 and 95.5FM News/Talk WSB reported. Parks Commissioner George Dusenbury told WSB that the park will be closed for at least two months. He told the station that repairs to the park's damaged irrigation and electrical systems will cost more than $30,000. Dusenbury said the park "took a lot of abuse" during the encampment by the protesters, which began on Oct. 6 and culminated in the...

This is for everyone, but particularly for Freepers in Virginia where Tim Kaine is running for the Senate. (Please observe my sarcasm.) There is a website, , that targets Rush Limbaugh and offers a petition demanding that Limbaugh apologizes to Sandra Fluke for his description of her. Which, we all know he has done (being the gentleman that he is, unlike Liberal/Democrat media commentators and journalists who spewed vile slang terms when they referred to Palin and Ingram). We have yet to hear those Liberals apologize, but I digress. On the site, it is the claim that Limbaugh (on...

(CBS News) Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul said an apology by conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh to Georgetown Law student Sandra Fluke for calling her a "slut" and a "prostitute" was not sincere, and was made only because it best served Limbaugh. On CBS News' "Face the Nation," the Texas congressman told host Bob Schieffer that Limbaugh's apology "was in his best interest." "He's doing it because some people were taking their advertisements off of his program. It was his bottom line he was concerned about," Paul said.

Dear Conservative Radio Talk Show Host, As an avid listener of Conservative talk radio, I know there is no small amount of competition nor an eagerness to separate yourself from the pack. And, in this attempt, it is unfortunately not unheard of for one host to revel in the misfortune of another. I believe the scientific term is "schadenfreude". Or is it "freudenschade"? I forget. No matter. You know what I mean. And, more importantly, you know who your are. You must all be aware by now that your every word is being monitored by left-wing agitators in hopes of...

Windows 8 is now available for anyone to download, and it already shows a ton of potential. In fact, Microsoft’s bold new OS, which reminds us a lot of Windows Phone, outshines the iPad in some key areas. Granted, there were things we didn’t like in our Windows 8 Consumer Preview — and the iPad 3 or iPad HD is just around the corner — but there’s no question that Apple will soon have a real fight on its hands. Here are the top 10 ways Windows 8 is better than the iPad right now. ( is a joint venture...

DIVIDE, COLO. -- Republican Presidential hopefuls are busy campaigning for their party's nomination, but in one small Colorado city, the campaigning is being done for mayor - and the candidates aren't exactly human. Nine animal candidates are running for mayor of Divide, a small city on the west side of Pikes Peak. The election is actually a fundraiser for the Teller County Regional Animal Shelter. Each vote costs $1, with all proceeds going toward renovations and expansion for the shelter. . . .

BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Sujapa, an undocumented immigrant from Honduras, pleaded with lawmakers Tuesday to reject a bill that targets illegal immigration. “It’s dangerous for me to say, but the reality is that families come here because it’s a life or death situation at home. We risk dying if we stay and the alternative is to come here,” said Sujapa, who would only give her first name.

IT LOOKS like Neanderthals may have beaten modern humans to the seas. Growing evidence suggests our extinct cousins criss-crossed the Mediterranean in boats from 100,000 years ago - though not everyone is convinced they weren't just good swimmers. Neanderthals lived around the Mediterranean from 300,000 years ago. Their distinctive "Mousterian" stone tools are found on the Greek mainland and, intriguingly, have also been found on the Greek islands of Lefkada, Kefalonia and Zakynthos. That could be explained in two ways: either the islands weren't islands at the time, or our distant cousins crossed the water somehow. Now, George Ferentinos of...

The ongoing debate over birth control took a particularly nasty turn recently when conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh called Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke a “slut” and “prostitute” for speaking out about the issue. Fluke, a birth control activist, spoke with TODAY’s Matt Lauer about Limbaugh’s comments and the failure of a GOP-sponsored amendment that would have allowed employers at religious institutions to opt out of providing contraception in health plans.

Courtesy of Danielle Byerley, Florida Museum of Natural HistoryAs scientists continue developing climate change projection models, paleontologists studying an extreme short-term global warming event have discovered direct evidence about how mammals respond to rising temperatures. In a study appearing in Science February 24, 2012, researchers from eight institutions, led by scientists from the University of Florida and University of Nebraska, found a correlation between temperature and body size in mammals by following the evolution of the earliest horses about 56 million years ago: As temperatures...
