A sizable number of Americans think the federal government is coming after their guns. Fifty percent (50%) feel gun confiscation is unlikely. This includes 20% who think the government is Very Likely to make this move and 23% who say it’s Not At All Likely... --snip-- The survey of 1,000 Likely Voters was conducted on March 30-31, 2013 by Rasmussen...

There have been 70,291,049 background checks for gun purchases since President Obama took office, according to data released by the FBI. In 2009, the FBI conducted 14,033,824 background checks. If we subtract the month of January (Obama did not assume office until the end of the month) we get 12,819,939. There's no real reason for this piece, I saw a graphic that said it and thought I could do it differently, and I did.

Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott wrote a letter to President Obama on Tuesday saying that the state will head to court over the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty should Mr. Obama sign it and the U.S. Senate ratify it. “The UN has concluded its negotiations on the Arms Trade Treaty,” Mr. Abbot writes. “It is now up to you to sign it — or reject it. Do not sign this treaty.” Mr. Abbott writes that he understands the apparent purpose is to combat illegal arms trafficking around the world, but that the treaty could draw law-abiding gun owners and gun...

The United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday signed off on a sweeping, first-of-its-kind treaty to regulate the international arms trade, brushing aside worries from U.S. gun rights advocates that the pact could lead to a national firearms registry and disrupt the American gun market. The long-debated U.N. Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) requires countries to regulate and control the export of weaponry such as battle tanks, combat vehicles and aircraft and attack helicopters, as well as parts and ammunition for such weapons. It also provides that signatories will not violate arms embargoes, international treaties regarding illicit trafficking, or sell weaponry to...

Thursday is the deadline for reaching a deal. U.N. diplomats, speaking on condition of anonymity because negotiations have been private, said Wednesday the United States was virtually certain to go along with the latest text.

Says Obamacare leading U.S. down pathway to socialism The surge of bullet-buying confirmed by the federal government – purchase estimates run into the billions of bullets – even as the U.S. military scrimps to find training ammo is raising lots of questions about the government’s so-far unexplained actions. But a video that has been around since last year is being forwarded across the Internet as an explanation. The six minutes recorded by Lt. Gen. William G. “Jerry” Boykin, retired, warns that America is well along the pathway that other societies have used to bludgeon and beat their populations into submission...

WATKINS GLEN, Feb. 25 -- The Schuyler County Legislature's Public Safety / Criminal Justice Committee voted unanimously Monday morning in favor of a resolution opposing the State's passage of the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act -- a gun control law enacted on Jan. 15. Nearly 50 people filed into the small confines of the Legislature chamber to support the resolution, which was crafted by Schuyler County Sheriff Bill Yessman and County Clerk Linda Compton (and can be found in its entirety here). The vote followed a brief presentation by Yessman, and drew applause from the audience....

New York - -(Ammoland.com)- Oath Keepers Founder Stewart Rhodes gave a fiery speech to approximately 3,000 New York gun owners, urging them to refuse to comply to the “SAFE Act,” to refuse to disarm, to nullify at every level. He also urged them to make sure their county was a “Molon Labe” county, asking them “is your county a ‘come and take it’ county, or is it a‘bend over and take it’ county? Which is it?! Find out now!” He told them to make sure all the gun owners and veterans in their county are ready to stand up, and...

From Cashill's novel 2006: the Chautauqua Rising, which was published in the year 2000, New York State officials exploit a school shooting to strip state citizens of their constitutional rights. (snip) The gun people came first. By noon, thousands of them were on their way. From all over the East, hell, from all over America, Canada too, they converged on Western New York in pick-ups and SUVs and RVs and who knows what else, many of them bearing the banner, Chautauqua or Bust.

The National Rifle Association (NRA) has added 500,000 new members over the last month and a half. Jacqueline Otto, media liaison for the NRA, spoke to CNSNews.com and confirmed the new membership numbers: "We mark that [membership increase] from the, you know, Congressional calls for gun control and President Obama's executive orders and things like that. That's what's driving the increased membership." CNSNews.com asked: "That's approximately over what time span then?" "A month, month and a half," Otto said.

This is the whole meeting (other than what the man with the camera couldn't catch due to full memory), 33 minutes long. It is very energetic and contentious and well worth watching and sharing. These men are angry, outspoken, and not afraid. Here's a link the a 4 minute video of excerpts: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=BTdhVxva5KU

If you are a reader of comments here at American Thinker then you have probably noticed an increasing use of the term molon labe. For those of you unfamiliar with the term and too busy (or too lazy) to look it up, I've done it for you. It is a Greek expression first attributed to King Leonidas of Sparta when the Persian invader Xerxes I, prior to the Battle of Thermopylae, demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms and submit to him. Its essential meaning was, "Up yours, pal: come do your worst." In so many words, it is...

When They Come For Your Guns, You Will Turn Them Over Posted By Jim Karger On August 13, 2012 In Featured, international living,Legislation,The Daily Reckoning “When they come for my gun, they will have to pry it out of my cold, dead hands,” is a common refrain I often hear from the Neo-Cons when there is a threat, credible or otherwise, that the US government is going to take their firearms. And, when I hear this crazy talk, I agree with them openly. “You are right. They will pry your gun from your cold dead hands,” which I often follow with...

I created this graphic for John Hawkins at Right Wing News to help get out the word about the Day of Resistance that the websites listed below are organizing to push back against the creepily fascistic tactics of Democratic Party's latest attack on the second amendment (I went sans my logo on this one, because it's not about me).If you want to help there is a Facebook page where you can help organize here.Click the image to get the full size version. If you really want to annoy somebody, do their job for them in a very public way. This is an angle of the growing separation between American localities and the federal government. From general discontent, to increasing non-participation, to open calls for secession, the public in most states have had enough and are actively driving wedges between themselves and Uncle Sam. When states and local law enforcement join the party, then it is only a matter of time before realignment or divorce becomes reality. After calling for inept, unworkable and unproductive gun control laws (forgive the redundancy), Barack Obama has...

I would like to rebut the Jan. 13 Guest Opinion, "Rebutting the arguments of gun-control advocates." The writer cites supposed minimal gains from gun legislation in Britain. Yet according to Britain's Piers Morgan, last year Britain had 30 gun murders, compared with approximately 20,000 in the U.S. And they had no mass murders. The author cites absurd statistics of all the thousands of crimes that were supposedly prevented by guns. What's the source of that data? Then, we were "treated" to a pedantic interpretation of the Second Amendment. We don't need an English lesson, sir, just rational thinking. Remember, when...

Will You Submit & Obey? Eric Peters January 27th, 2013 In New York, we have a prequel of what’s to come – the repeal of the Second Amendment and summary criminalization of peaceful citizens merely for possessing the means of self-defense, even in their own homes. As in Great Britain, citizens of NY face prison if they use proscribed weapons against murderous thugs – even in their own homes. The tyrants Michael Bloomberg and Andrew Cuomo have made their decision. Now New Yorkers will have to make theirs. And so will the rest of us – if, as seems likely,...

After Democrats in New York rammed a sweeping assault on the right to keep and bear arms through the legislature that failed to exempt police officers from the draconian restrictions, gun owners and even some lawmakers are planning what has been dubbed potentially the largest act of civil disobedience in state history. According to news reports, gun rights activists are urging everyone to defy far-left Governor Andrew Cuomo’s new registration mandate while daring authorities to “come and take it.” Analysts say the legislation, passed in a frenzy last week in the wake of the Newtown shooting, represents the most brazen...
