I want to say Thank you Holy Lord! My hubby (Netmilsdad) wiped out on his motorcycle today. He was on a very busy street (five lanes on both sides). Through the Grace of God, he has only a broken collar bone. He could have died, been run over, paralyzed, head trauma, ect. He is fine. A painful fine, but fine. Wear your helmets!

It takes a serious modder to look at his motorcycle and think "I could put a Viper motor in there." This thing is truly badass and totally street legal.

The production of Harley-Davidson Sportster engines in Wauwatosa will be shut down for about 14 weeks late this year, including the company's entire fourth quarter.

200mph jet cycle could be world's fastest Imagine sitting on top of two jet engines, catapulting yourself to 200 mph in 7.887 seconds. If this unconfirmed wild ride is for real, that feat would make this jet-powered motorcycle the world's fastest. Sure beats that 155mph superbike we were gawking at last year. Not much else is known about this alleged world record-breaking stunt, except that the cycle's powered by J402-CA-702 Model 373 turbine engines, originally developed for the U.S. military's cruise missiles, with each engine developing 1,000 pounds of thrust. We're speechless, except to say that must be one hot...

On an August morning in 1978, French filmmaker Claude Lelouch mounted a gyro-stabilized camera to the bumper of a Ferrari 275 GTB and had a friend, a professional Formula 1 racer, drive at breakneck speed through the heart of Paris early in the morning . The film was limited for technical reasons to 10 minutes; the course was from Porte Dauphine , through the Louvre, to the Basilica of Sacre Coeur. No streets were closed, for Lelouch was unable to obtain a permit. The driver completed the course in about 9 minutes, reaching nearly 140 MPH in some stretches. The...

There seems to be a trend among manufacturers to design motorcycles for people who don't really like them. It's no surprise, then, that Honda, the world's largest manufacturer of two-wheelers, wants in on this nontraditional crowd. This is, after all, the "you meet the nicest people" company that virtually invented the concept of motorcycling as a mass-market pastime. Now it wants to broaden those horizons further, and it sees a niche smack dab between the loafer-wearing scooter crowd and those preening, leather-shod bikers. Its solution is the DN-01 ($17,499). While it looks like a motorcycle (well, sort of ), it...

Steve McQueen’s bike jump is an iconic movie moment, but is it as authentic as it looks? To find out, we recreated it. Nick Rufford reports: Two feet, four, six . . . 7ft off the ground. After repeated nervous, muddy attempts, Bud Ekins, a motorcycle stunt rider, coaxed the old Triumph into the air, flew over the strands of fake barbed wire and into the history books. The sequence helped make The Great Escape a cinema classic and turn Steve McQueen into an international star. It also made Ekins, who doubled as McQueen, a legend among fellow riders. In...

Indianapolis - Undercover police snatched the wheels of unsuspecting MotoGP fans over the weekend. It was a secret sting operation to seize and recover stolen motorcycles. But one Harley owner says police went overboard in his case. Briggs Blakemore just got his hog back - a 1981 Harley Davidson Electra Glide Classic. His bike sat locked up in the police impound for...

(dpa) - Senator John McCain, 71, heads to the unlikely town of Sturgis, South Dakota, on Monday to rub elbows with the rowdy tattooed rebels of the American roads at a campground rock concert. With a population of 780,000, South Dakota on the Great Plains is hardly an election-day prize for either McCain's Republican Party or rival Democrats. But the state doubles in population during the annual August motorcycle rally in Sturgis, at the foot of the Black Hills, that draws an estimated 500,000 to 600,000 out-of-state "wild hogs" who roar cross country to celebrate their bike culture. McCain plans...

The 2008 National Motorcycle Show in Toronto has always been heavily influenced by the American V-twin crowd and highlights some of the area's top custom builders who have on display a fine array of one-off custom machines. This year's show, however, had one very unusual one-off custom, the Uno. The orange and grey coloured Uno made its first public appearance balanced on its two side-by-side wheels and its footpegs. Looking more like it should have been ridden by George Jetson as he pulled up to his space platform, it looked out of place amid the other custom creations in...

Whoever coined the phrase "it's just like riding a bike" probably never switched motorcycles. Even experienced riders can be wobbly on an unfamiliar bike, according to a recent study from the Progressive Group of Insurance Cos., a motorcycle insurer. Progressive reviewed nearly 2 million motorcycle insurance policies over a five-year period and found that riders who switched to different types of bikes were nearly 70% more likely to crash than riders who kept the same bike. The study also found that riders of cruiser bikes, such as Harley-Davidsons, who switched to high-performance sport bikes like Suzuki GSXRs were 3 1/2...

MILWAUKEE - Cities from New York to Denver are giving motorcyclists the silent treatment. That worries riders rights groups, which fear that a wave of ordinances aimed at muffling Harley-Davidsons, hushing Hondas and stifling Suzukis will create a confusing patchwork of laws that motorcyclists won't be able to navigate. The motorcycle industry is concerned it could turn these frustrated riders away. 'From our perspective, this creates enormous problems for us because people notice the one motorcycle that makes a lot of noise,' said Bill Wood, spokesman for the American Motorcyclist Association. 'They don't notice the 50 that pass that don't....
