San Francisco mothers, including a pregnant woman, and nannies are being targeted in violent, broad-daylight robberies at the hands of masked minors in the crime-ridden city. Police have connected a group of teenagers to at least 11 such attacks last week in Noe Valley and nearby areas, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Chinese company Da Jiang Innovations, the world’s largest maker of drones, has donated drones to 43 law enforcement agencies operating in 22 U.S. states to enforce social distancing rules. Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America (MDA) has launched a new campaign claiming Facebook and Instagram are "effectively hosting online gun shows." According to PR Newswire, MDA is asking "Facebook and Instagram to immediately enact a policy prohibiting all gun sales and trades of firearms on their platforms." The Navy says eight sailors have been discharged after a hazing incident aboard a San Diego-based amphibious assault ship. Navy spokesman said Saturday the eight received general discharges following allegations they assaulted and choked a fellow sailor aboard the ship, the Bonhomme Richard, on Jan. 17, as part of an initiation rite. The Pentagon says it won't ban smoking by troops in war zones, despite a recent study recommending a tobacco-free military. Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell says troops already are under enough stress and making enough sacrifices in fighting the two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. And he says Defense Secretary Robert Gates doesn't want to do add to that stress by taking away one of the few outlets they have to relieve it.
